Somewhere a crime is happening...in the new Robocop remake

wouldn't expect the suit to look exactly like that. there will most likely be significant cgi enhancements. I think it looks pretty decent though. I'm cautiously optimistic about the movie in general.

I don't why they're even bothering making this. Robocop isn't even a good movie.

Stereotypically robot-like, you mean. There are plenty of sleek, modern looking robots. It's a fairly logical redesign (or rather - reinterpretation of the concept using modern art styles), although I can understand that people want it to be more reverent of the source material.

Let's hope this is more faithful to Verhoeven than Verhoeven was faithful to Robert Heinlein.

It's not the sleekness that bothers me, it is the fact that it looks like a guy in a suit. If they wanted to go sleek they should have used CGI to make it obvious that it wasn't just a guy in a suit, make the limbs be something that looked too slender, or jointed slightly differently or something.

The clunkiness of Robocop was his best feature. He wasn't human and it was apparent with everything he did. His movements, his pinpoint shooting accuracy, his rigid adherence to the law. It made Robocop finding his humanity that much sweeter.

To this day Robocop's ending is my favorite ending to any movie ever.

Will hold my judgment untill trailer. The set pics from Avengers looked like really bad cosplay, but in the movie itself they turned out great and I expect with Robocop the difference will be even bigger

Robocop at the time was a satire of the machismo, sadism, and semi-fascist leanings of action movies of the day.

It stands to reason that a Robocop for the 2010s would go after brooding, navel-gazing superhero origin stories.

Exactly. The original was an actual good movie, not some trashy flick that's only good for nostalgia value. It even got a Criterion Collection release.

Is the new Robocop design supposed to resemble a dildo?

Ever since I heard this was getting a remake, I thought 'Why?'

Well, for $$$ obviously, but if ever a film doesn't need a reboot, it's Robocop. Same exact story with Total Recall. The best parts of that film were the bits they copied straight from the original. The stuff they added was mostly bad, and the film as a whole was highly forgettable.

Robocop was the film of my childhood, fuckin love that shit, and it holds up incredibly well.
The ED-209 reveal, Emil melting, that gun, and so many quotable lines. Even the TV version from the 90s is enjoyable for it's horrendous dub of all the cursing (that armed robber in the store screaming 'WHY ME? WHY ME? gets me every time).

Some films cry out for a remake. Clash of the Titans for example, even though that turned out to be utter dross, or Tron. Robocop is not one of them.

Calling it now -

I (will not) LIKE IT!!!!!!!

I dunno, that suit looks pretty badass to me.

I've heard good things from the Elite Squad movies from people so I guess I'll reserve judgement until a trailer comes out.

Yes. Because a movie should bomb purely because you don't like the suit. God forbid it actually turns out good.

He didn't say it should bomb because of the suit. Just stated two random facts.

1. The suit is bad.

2. This movie is going to bomb.

But, this movie is not going to bomb because of the costume. It's going to bomb because it is a seemingly worthless remake with a shit script that is going to be pushed out in the dead of winter with no marketing.

It's such a triumphant moment. Finding the good in the bad, just fuck yea. Stand tall.

Wow, youtube comments pointed out two things i never noticed.
There's a random pair of legs (crew?) in the holster shot behind him, and that his voice does become more and more human throughout the movie as he rediscovers himself.

Damn you. Never noticed the legs. They had to know they were going to be in the shot. Must have just figured if they didn't move, nobody would notice the out of focus legs.

How do you figure that it will get CGI enhancements? If they we're going to make CGI enchancements he wouldn't be wearing a full suit, just take a look at RDJ set pics from Iron Man 2. I hate to break it to you but what you see in those pics is basically what you will see in the movie.

A big problem is that the exposed hand makes i feel even more like a suit rather than a robotic body.
