And, once again, Sega flat-out ignores the audience that have given Sonic the most exposure and the best sales this gen.
Sega are so incompetent with this IP it's unbelievable.
If that Dimensions rumor has any weight
I can see "new physics" being tweaks to ep1 so the overall feel is still going to be shitty.
Episode 1 appeared in the Steam registry so Episode 2 will probably get a PC port as well. There should be a PC release. Maybe mods can save the game, if Sega fails again.
Are people really this thirsty for Sonic games?
No-one else makes Sonic-style games. Seriously, no-one. I mean, there are fan games/romhacks, but they're all terrible (and often for the exact same reasons as the real games). People have to get their fix somewhere, and Sega's the only dealer in town.
The Adreno 200 is the very definition of crappy, the fact that the UI on WP7 devices is hardware accelerated, is irrelevant.I own a WP7 (truly now a 7.5 device). It not a top tie hardware wise but the OS is pretty fast (a single core device blows up a dual core Android). It is not garbage graphics wise, but since you have to use C#/XNA and cannot use C++ a simple port is not possible. When you make things specifically for WP7 the graphics show up (like IloMilo, Fable Coin Golf, and even HydroThunder).
Besides, at the time of release of Sonic 4 ep2 we may already have Windows Phone 8 devices (target july/august if I am right), plus 7.5 devices are already faster.
Seriously. oololololololDat facial hair
This will never happen. The Sonic Cycle will only be broken when most can agree that they've finally released a game that is even close to as good as the Genesis titles.
Not a game that is 'good enough'. Not a game that gets at least a 70% on Gamerankings or whatever.
It's got to meet the expectations of long-time Sonic fans yearning for another game that can stand alongside the classics.
This will never happen.
Because Sonic Team is inept or because Sonic fans are insatiable?
Ah, the eternal question.
I seem to be the only person to have loved the shit out of Episode I.
Sad but true. The real issue with this game is that post-Sega working with Taxman's Retro Engine, a now proven platform for retro styled throwback downloadable games exists for a true classic Sonic 4 across ALL platforms. By virtue of being an Episode 2, this game won't be that.
I'd say because some Sonic fans are insatiable. I found Generations much more than "good enough," and I'm pretty sure I qualify as a long-time Sonic fan.
Sonic 4 Ep. 1 is nowhere near that level. If it's true that they completely revamped the physics, let's hope they used Classic Sonic from Generations. That seems too good to be true, though.
I seem to be the only person to have loved the shit out of Episode I. And this is coming from someone whose favorite platformer ever is Sonic 2.
I will never forgive Sega for Sonic 4 EP1. Fewer larger atrocities exist in gaming that rape your childhood in front of you. This cheap PR talk and promises does not change anything in the slightest with regards to what I expect.

I believe the only larger atrocity is Sonic 2006
Maybe Bomberman Act Zero
There were a few issues I had with the placement of some platforms/enemies in a way that the level design seems to lure you into making a mistake whereas with Genesis era Sonic games that wasn't really the case.
