I'm fine with the title change: just needed to get that joke in there. ;P
Frankly, if the title changed, it should be to that proposed word-eating one.I'm fine with the title change: just needed to get that joke in there. ;P

It's not a good enough game to- |Sonic Advent. 2 HD OT| I'LL MAKE YOU EAT THOSE WORDSI think it may have been changed to make it more immediately obvious what it is.
"You're not good enough to- |SA2 OT| I'LL MAKE YOU EAT THOSE WORDS" is, sadly, not obvious.
I think most of the people who say they didn't like the game were probably past childhood when they played it.
Neither. If you held a gun to my head and made me choose, though, I'd have to think about it a little. Like, SA2 has some alright mechanics and some nice art design and the grinding system. I lurve SA2's soundtrack, though, much to the chagrin of certain people. But SA1 kind of feels a little more... cohesive? Maybe that's not the word I'm looking for. Let me think about it a little bit (prolly need to play SA1 for a bit). Now after both have been rereleased and most of us aren't 12/13 anymore which game do you prefer Sonic Adventure 1 or Sonic Adventure 2?
Perfect runs. Like. Really really really perfect runs, to the point of restarting when you do one tiny little thing wrong. If I liked SA2 a ton, I'd go for the A-Ranks and get all the emblems and stuff, but I don't think I'll do it. It'll take some time investment; time I don't really have and time I don't care to spend on SA2.I also HATE the level ranking system in Adventure 2...for a game geared towards children it's sometimes impossible to reach an A ranking.
Sometimes I pretend that's the thread title. Everyone liked it in the other thread and I feel like we should acknowledge it somehow.I think it may have been changed to make it more immediately obvious what it is.

I ended up posting your post in the Sonic Community thread, actually, because I felt like the discussion would be better there, and it's something I've wanted to bring up in that thread for a while after playing a bit of SA2HD.Yoshi said:*snip*

I would still say I lean a bit more to Sonic Adventure one...mostly due to it just simply being fun. The level layout isn't frustrating, the soundtrack is amazing, and with the DX upgrades it doesn't look too shabby. I would say that Sonic Adventure 2 took the Sonic gameplay and made it a bit more fun due to the grinding system, however there's just something about the gameplay of one that draws me to it.

Oh GOD yes, thought I needed to change my pants when I finally pulled that off (consecutively!) on Missions 4 and 5.Nothing feels better than getting that Extreme near the end of Metal Harbor
NOTHING
Adventure 1, definitely. And I agree, fuck SA2's ranking system. Always makes me feel a bit shitty when I get hit in the last part of the level and lose all my rings, or when I find out despite getting 200 rings there were 200 more that I missed. :/Now after both have been rereleased and most of us aren't 12/13 anymore which game do you prefer Sonic Adventure 1 or Sonic Adventure 2?

I still don't get itEven when I was obsessed with this game as an 11 year old, I always found the final boss being a giant lizard with the nose of the ARK shoved up his ass hilariously surreal.
Something about Eggman's grandfather experimenting with creating an ultimate lifeform based on lizards (due to regeneration and whatever), but then finding an ancient mural with an hedgehog design and so he used that as a new base for the ultimate lifeform project.I still don't get it
How did he go from giant unholy lizard to 3 ft tall hedgehog

(Don't ask me where I heard this, I honestly don't remember where, it might even not be accurate at all).

This makes it all worthwhile.Nocturnowl, just wanted to say that I just read your entire journey, and quite enjoyed your writeup.
When you die in a terrible and accidental way near the end of a stage and loses all your points, happened to me in Weapons Bed on this run.Adventure 1, definitely. Plus that necklace ain't got no style.Okay, now that I've properly played through the game for the first time in a decade, I can conclusively state that the reason the franchise fell apart after Sonic Adventure 2 is because they gave Knuckles some lame sunglasses instead of a boss pair of goggles.
So when dose this come out? Because I want to kick my brothers butt with my Chou ONLINE! Ohhhhh yeahhhh!
I can't wait until this is 4.99 definite buy then I wish they would go to sonic adventure one and retroactively correct the character models so they look like sonic adventure 2 models so they have more of a connection I bet the PC moddets will be on tht once this hits steam
Well this is rather interesting, let me know if this has already been discovered.
Was playing cosmic wall in story mode, grabbed a chao key about half way in and at the end of the stage... went to the test area map.

I just realized thread title was changed to chao gibberish lol
What are they saying something you understand?*smack*
Do the chao not say that though? I swear to god they do.

My NiGHTS review occupied most of my week so it took me a bit to get to this SA2 review, but here it is.

I don't understand how you thought that boss battle with Eggman was the hardest boss in the game, when it has always been a push-over to everyone I knew. And then you yourself beat it in one go with a couple of seconds after it started. You were like "huh, did they make it easier?".
Nope.
Also, spending 45 minutes in a hunting stage? That's crazy, Blaze. What happened?
As for your review, although it's true that the themes that appeared in the poor Sonic games that followed can be traced back to SA2; I don't believe it's fair to blame SA2 on those games. Those games that came after were poor games period, with poor gameplay, poor polish, and poor decisions; the use of the Adventure characters and storylines weren't a problem at all (unless you felt those kinds of stories to be alienating from the original Genesis games, in which case it would be irrelevant to the game's quality unless you are a Genesis kid).
Anyway, great review; love TSSZ.
Zuh? When did I say anything about Eggman's boss fight?
And Sonic Adventure 2 was a very "serious" game, and Sonic has always been at his worst when he is taking himself too seriously. Sonic Adventure 2's foundation is almost directly responsible for both Shadow the Hedgehog in 2005 and Sonic 2006. Destined bad games or not, they built off of characters and concepts born from SA2.

I don’t like complaints like: “You are forced to play this and that. The story forces me to play etc.”
The game does not force you to play it. In Sonic the Hedgehog 2006, I felt I was forced to play Sonic. Sonic games developed a bad habit of having favorite and hated characters. Isn’t that a bit boring to play only a only Sonic, over and over again? While it is true, that the play-style is different and sometimes not very enjoyable, it is not an easy task to discover that in the development of the game.
The worst thing that could happen (and eventually it did) is fear. The fear of not meeting the players expectations. The easiest solution while facing the fear is to run away. And that in this metaphor means not trying anything new and practically stick only with Sonic jumping on enemies the whole level – forever.
If you think that the story is so laughable, that you can’t write the word story without quotes, you have probably never played any other Sonic game before. The story was much more complex and believable than ever before, and ever after. Also has many qualities which keeps you playing. It is one of the very good reasons why it was and why it is still praised.
How come that nothing was improved since Sonic Adventure and still, SA2 is better reviewed? Maybe only the better story is the reason. That confuses me a lot. I don’t know why SEGA, instead of improving technical issues and keeping the good things decided to no longer consider the story important enough to give some serious effort into it. Or what happened was the real opposite. They thought, that the story is what is now interesting. However, they overestimated themselves, not believing they could screw it up next time. The story continued (well, kind of), but the technical and design issues lasted, in the hopes, they would be overshadowed.
It is probably since the Japanese people are a little bit different in evaluating the game qualities. They don’t consider technical difficulties and logic accuracy that big of a issue. If the characters legs look like they are sliding on the ground instead of running, it is a big issue overseas. But in Japan, if they are told that this representation is supposed to mean that the character runs, they accept it like that. Another example – some (I don’t know which) video-game character was supposed to be Japanese in origin, but he had green eyes. While oversees fans were making a big issue out of this and started serious flame topics about it, Japanese gamers never understood it – the game developers say, that he is Japanese, so he is, regardless what his eyes look like.
So while certain issues are very superficial, other can be still very annoying as they affect the gameplay. Especially for American gamers, who are known to be really aggressive and tend to be very loud. They always need to get what they want. If they do not get that, they will throw they console out and sue the game company for breaking their window (it is a slight exaggeration, but that’s literally what I have been told on the course for video-game programmers and designers).
