So are DLC stages confirmed? Or just people hoping that there will be?
Hope and speculation. SEGA has not made mention of DLC other than the preorder bonus.

Haven't been keeping up with the game after playing the disappointing demo, any idea if that theme will also be in the PS3/360 version?
Not sure. Given that there appear to be music easter eggs everywhere in the HD version at least, I don't want to completely say no. But right now, I'm leaning towards no.

I'm hoping that it is, because that's a great arrangement that Cash Cash did.

Wait a minute, the 3DS version has different levels from the PS3/360 versions? And a 3DS level, Casino Night, will be DLC for the HD versions? I thought all versions would have the same levels, and was looking for a version with all of them. Will more levels come DLC besides Casino Night?

Wait, you guys are certain the demo will be on JP PSN this week? Cuz if so I may get it off it X3

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Its in my LoveFilm queue and will be set to medium priority!

The only level that the HD versions share with the 3DS version is Green Hill Zone. The 3DS version has Casino Night as a full stage, while the HD version gets a pinball mini-game based on the zone aesthetic as DLC.

Casino Night is just a pinball mini-game for the HD versions. 3DS version of Casino Night is a full level.

And aside from Green Hill Zone, the level choice is different in the 3DS version. I would also note that Green Hill itself is different from the HD counterpart. So yeah, 3DS version is a completely different game.

Hope that clears up.

How's the 3DS version looking? I have a fondness for portable Sonic, and Dimps made Sonic Rush aka the best Sonic of the past decade.
It looks very unpolished and kind of buggy. And for some reason Classic Sonic has the homing attack, but they never said if it's an unlockable or not.

I'm surprised by how much I am finding myself wanting this game. I don't usually get caught up in the Sonic cycle, but this one looks like it's just what we've been wanting.

Developed by by the same developers that developed Sonic the Hedgehog 4!

doubt it, Arkham City OT made it, they were more strict about it before, i just dont like it personally. Its weird to make an OT and see pages upon pages of discussion before the game is even out.

I checked by looking at when Arkham City went up ironically.

It's indeed great, that's why I was hoping the console versions would also get it. I guess time will tell, thanks. :)

Played the demo. Love Modern Sonic's gameplay, I really like speedrunning it and it controls great. They also improved the controls for Classic Sonic, though I'm kind of bored with Classic Green Hill after playing it a shitton during the previous demo.

I'm glad you guys like the OP =) I put a lot of time into it

You should get most of the credit. I just wrote the info and preview links. You did all the images and such. It's really 75% your post.

Yeah well, it wouldn't complete without info. Plus, you're the one keeping it updated, so you'll be putting quite a bit of time into it still. xD

Anyways, So hyped for Sonic Generations, need a PSN demo soon!

Great OT, nice look.
Though agree that as far as I knew, it was 1 week before release; unless it was recently changed. I do remember asking for Mortal Kombat and timed posting it exactly 1 week (5AM here) because of that; but things may have changed since April (seeing how Batman AC also went 2 weeks earlier).

But awesome anyway, too bad the 3DS version doesn't have a final release date yet; since is the one I'm getting.

Demo is tight, they did fix modern sonic ghz. The controls are tighter from the build I played at sonic boom.

Congrats on choosing the right OT subtitle in the end (and all of it in general) guys!

Hopefully after class today I can get a taste for how both halves play from the new demo, but replaying Colors lately I'm hoping it's more of that and less of Unleashed (weird ass jump mechanic in Colors aside).

not enough Genesis zones IMO

That's no opinion. It's cold hard fact. One zone represents both Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles. That's just silly.

guess they gotta save some stuff for DLC.

It doesn't look bad as in Classic Sonic 'works' (but in the sense they've literally just copy and pasted the original level layouts) and Modern Sonic also 'works' (in the sense you just either boost or jump occasionally; it's way more basic than Rush which I was also a fan of), but compared to the HD version or even earlier DIMPS games it's very ho-hum.

Only reason to get it at launch or ahead of hte HD would be that the level selection is different and strikes your fancy more (it's arguably more balanced too; 3 classic levels, 4 'modern' levels and a greater variety in tropes) and the remixes sound excellent so far (not that the HD versions doesn't either mind you).

Another early |OT|, but whatever. Pretty hyped. Still dislike how the stage selection turned out though. The "Dreamcast" Era has terrible variation and no Sonic 3 stage is stupid. Should be fun though.

Beautiful OT, great job guys. Glad that you made it clear that this game is "100% Sonic". This game is the return to good Sonic, guys!

Amy's pink hair fits in with your raichu better tho

EDIT: Oh man if I wasn't at uni I'd listen to that credits music, but I'm I right in assuming
it's a melody of all the featured zones like the old games?

Combovers don't work when there is no hair

I'd love a game with nothing but Classic Sonic and remade Mega Drive levels, but obviously that's not going to happen since this is a celebration of 20 years of Sonic games.
