When I first started up the game, I felt as if Sonic had poor acceleration, but then I realized the homing attack/airdash is the key to get speed instantly, and I never had any issues after that. The only thing I really noticed that was "bad" was the whole walking on walls thing, but you're constantly moving in a Sonic game, so I don't see that it changes much of anything to make the whole game horrible.

This is exactly my problem with the physics and the awful acceleration with the game, you HAVE to constantly use the homing attack to actually pick up good speed. This is not how a Sonic game should work. I want to pick up good speed by walking to running. It's so really dumb that I'm forced to use the stupid air dash/homing attack 90% of the game. It's not even a good platformer due to that.

Fucccccccckkkkkkk Casino Street Act 2. :(

EDIT: On the subject of Shadow The Hedgehog: Shadow is indeed more entertaining than Sonic 4, but mainly just because of how ridiculously fucking bad that game was, not to mention the dialogs. :lol I still think it's a much much worse game than Sonic 4. At least Sonic 4 wasn't really as much of a painless game. Just a ridiculously underwhelming weak platformer.

Shadow The Hedgehog is so close to 06 for me.

It has been a long time since I last seriously played Sonic 2006, but streaming Shadow a few weeks ago so me and my friends could laugh at it, I'd say Shadow might actually be worse in many regards

Shadow controls SO HEAVILY. It feels like he weighs like 400lbs. for as long as it takes him to accelerate, how wide his turning arc is, etc. And you spend all this time accelerating, and accelerating, and accelerating and the moment you let off the stick he stops on a dime. It's ridiculous.

And then the mission objectives themselves. Ho-lee shit. So many of them are the worst, most tedious "KILL EVERY EVIL ENEMY IN THIS STAGE!" bullshit, where you have to spend 45 minutes in a single level looking for the one asshole they stashed in a secret area because Sonic Team really does actually hate you.

Everything feels SO tedious.

I suppose I'll get to re-experience Sonic 2006 soon enough though, with that thing me and ShockingAlberto have coming up.

The only time I played Shadow the Hedgehog was in the player 2 role of Maria, FLIPPING MARIA! I think she had a small toe kick and that was about it, my friend had suffered enough of the horrible Shadow gameplay and never played further.

For thing for sure, Shadow The Hedgehog's Westopolis (first level) is much much worse than the first few Sonic 06's levels. Which means the game started off much worse than 06, but thankfully the game never quite reach the bullshit levels of (arguably) RADICAL TRAIN!!, Silver's sand level and FUCKING END OF THE WORLD.

...At least from my playthrough (I gave up on Lethal Highway's tank mission.)

I actually hate Shadow more than '06. At least 06 has that fun in showing others how bad it is factor. Shadow is just dull and poorly designed.

With Sonic 06, I at least had the feeling that it would have been a lot more fun to play without being rushed and glitchy everywhere. Either way, I can revel in its utter shit factor and speculate about it being at least mediocre.

Shadow, unfortunately, is just sad, a piss-poor reminder of how Takashi Iizuka can do something utterly wrong and out-of-touch with what gamers want. (And yet people voted for Shadow and not NiGHTs! Sonic fans!)

This sounds like it'll be fun. :lol

For me, it's like this:

Shadow's cutscenes are funny and easy to riff on because they're ridiculous. The missions are really effing bad. Shadow's soundtrack isn't one of my favourites in the series either. But a lot of Shadow's levels are really bad, bordering on Sonic 06-level, or sometimes being worse than the first few Sonic Story 2006 levels.

Sonic 2006, meanwhile, has more bits that are frustrating more than anything else like the billiards level or Radical Train's mach speed section. Its cutscenes are... well, you know. The music stands out quite a bit, but the game doesn't look so hot either.

There are times when they're both on-par, and there are some times when one is worse than the other. I do, however, think that 2006 is worse as a whole product, though.

Part 11 of the LP is up. Miraculously, pokecapn blows hard at this stage.
I have to stop going to sleep early. Watching~

Edit: *head in hands* Well, you know... they aren't too bad on their first time.

Their Classic Sonic run through Crisis City is horrendous. :|

"SHIT! NO, COME BACK!" :lol :lol

I'm still astonished they got an S rank for that. I know Generations is more lenient with its grades than most of the games prior, but come on.

Their freak-out at the fake-out (lol) was beautiful.
*sees goalpost flying by*

"Oh hey, there's the g-" *jumps, doesn't work* :lol

Me too. That was a pretty bad run, but an okay run for a first time through... but not deserving of an S-rank at all.

Details are still being worked out.

Ive played Shadow the Hedgehog so many times since its my go-to game when Im depressed and want to hate myself

And I can never get over the fact that mission-based gameplay is a big deal, yet the game completely ignores that.
You cant access missions until you meet the NPC its assigned to
You constantly run across npcs from the opposing side and the game auto aligns you with them forcing you to change in the pause menu.
If you're doing a good mission, the GUN soldiers still treat you as an enemy and vice versa.
The game only saves mission progress when you hit a checkpoint for the first time, which can make cleaning up a few missing things extremely frustrating

Westopolis also has the most amazingly bad set of alternate routes in any Sonic game.
At one point you get the option of going up a bridge and homing some dudes, or going across a moving platform or two. The ground you traverse is extremely small and then youre back to straight highway.

EDIT EDIT-
Secret shame: I actually think the interior of the Black Comet looks legitimately cool and the music in those stages are neat

Which makes me think, actually... It's hard to say which version of Radiant Emerald I prefer: the "wow transparencies on the Saturn" one, or the "wow so many rainbows it's giving me a seizure" one.

I'm leaning toward the seizure one, but getting transparencies on the Saturn IS pretty impressive.

Oh yes Shadow, now we're talking.

Did anyone manage to complete the game? I might be missing some endings because I got stuck, should try again :\

Everything about Shadow the Hedgehog just turned me off...

I could take the story that they did in Sonic Adventure one and two...but the one in shadow from the opening sequence with purple monsters from space just turned me off completely...it was so awful.

The game seemed very cheap too compared to Sonic Adventure 2, it felt like a step backwards and the presentation was lacking. The gameplay was just ...not fun at all.

The last boss in shadow was the only time ive legitmately thrown a controller. It can accidentally become unwinnable and without knowing this happened the fight becomes a long futile exercise
The final stage before it is terrible too.

As long as we're on the subject of Shadow, I suppose I'll go ahead and admit to liking a bit over half of the vocal tracks. The lyrics are mostly insipid, but the music is solid enough.

Waking Up - This Machine was probably the best team theme in Heroes, and Julien-K's encore appearance is no slouch either. It's got a good, solid beat I can dig.
Chosen One - oh god so depressing. The chorus is catchier than it has any right being, though.
E.G.G.M.A.N. - Still awesome, even without most of the lyrics. The '06 theme is nice, but hearing this crop up in Generations just felt right.
Never Turn Back - WHOAOHOAOH, WHOAOHOAOH, WHOAYEAH. I think it's the piano intro that really sells me, but the rest of it still comprises one of the only decent post-Heroes Crush 40 tracks.

The original All Hail Shadow isn't terrible either, or is at least less so than Crush 40's cover.

All Hail Shadow is awesome. It's just pure nacho cheese.
I like All Hail Shadow a lot for the same reason. It makes me laugh sometimes, but honestly, it's well-composed.

At least Sciz picked most of the themes I liked on Shadow's soundtrack. I'm not a fan of the majority of the soundtrack, but there are gems in there, like G.U.N. Fortress, Prison Island, and Black Comet.

I have taken a liking to I Am... All of Me lately. It can be just as cheesy as All Hail Shadow.

Combovers don't work when there is no hair
I still remember the first AMV I ever saw, it was a bunch of random FF7 videos, including the one where Aeris dies, with Linkin Park's 'Pushing Me Away' on top.

I still think the song is, alongside their U2-ripoff 'Shadow of the Day', the only decent thing I've ever heard from Linkin Park

And Jesus Christ, Bon Jovi's 'It's My Life' deserves so much better than ending up in a Shadow AMV. That song reminds me of my teenage years, don't ruin it! *shakes fist*

No, I'd say Bon Jovi songs are more than deserving of that

Eh, Bon Jovi might be hair metal, but they're still far better than offensively terribad shit like Poison, RATT, Poison, Stryper, Poison, Cinderella, Poison, Winger and Poison.

Edit: Guns 'N Roses were mostly awful too, but it's arguable whether they were glam metal or just regular rock 'n roll with awful vocals.

Guns 'n' Roses have aged badly but they're still decent. First album, at least.

All these dudes have nothing on CRUSH 40 anyway

Crush 40 might actually be even worse than Poison, which is an impressive feat, considering 'Unskinny Bop' is one of the worst songs to come out of the hair metal genre.

Speaking of Crush40 and Shadow the Hedgehog, look what Crush 40 posted on their Facebook today, lol.

"I AM... ALL OF ME" from Shadow The Hedgehog is on Youtube now. Old one but I hope it will help you to learn how to play it :) Me with ESP Viper SL (Super Long) with Drop C tuning. Enjoy!
-Jun! / Crush 40
I think he should just play it with the guitar as opposed to playing it with the vocalless track (w/backing harmonies) in the background, tbh. (Drop C is C,F,A♯,D♯,G,C; interesting because a lot of songs use Drop D a lot.)

The video is honestly not as good as his Live and Learn or What I'm Made Of tutorial videos, though. So much interfering noise.

*brofist* I love this song so much.

I thought it was Rebecca Black?
I don't think people really dislike her. I've heard kids on campus singing that Friday song a lot, even though I think it's gone out of style.

As much as people don't want to admit it, I think people genuinely find that song catchy as hell despite its annoyance.

I heard she had a few songs since, but they haven't been good?

Ummm....no.

The original has zero energy. The singer is asleep at the wheel, the exact same drum loop carries the whole four minutes, and the spots where it should build up to a crescendo are completely flat. Crush 40 is phoning it in even by their standards and they still put on a better performance.

Part 11 is up.

It's funny, I was kind of expecting at least Modern Sonic to get an S here (having done Classic Sonic's stage recently, I know the bar for an S rating there is surprisingly strict).

Great episode. I love when they say they actually love it. :D

Was expecting a stronger reaction to the grind down the church tower though. I showed that bit to my friend recently and his jaw hit the floor.
