What are you people doing in here? -_-

This map drives me insane. Why do you drive me mad, Wacky Workbench Act 1? Why? Is it because no path is safe?

It's like they went straight up crazy and decided that their players were masochists (I'm exaggerating, but I don't like this map).

double post, my mistake
Tsk tsk.

There're the comics, why can't we talk about that?
We can talk about that. I haven't had any time at all to go through any. Finals are next week so I can't even touch them until the 15th. ;__; But then after that I won't be all stressed and frustrated from lack of sleep and eyestrain and whatever.

Stop playing awful Sonic games!

I think the thing I dislike most about Wacky Workbench is that when you are on those floating platforms it's incredibly easy to lose all sense of bearings and not know where you are since there aren't any landmarks around, just more floating platforms.

Also it's annoying as fuck when you want to get through a low area but can't because you keep bouncing off the damn floor.

I remember first playing it and being all like "don't know what everyone's complaining about, this is easy" but then I had to get the rings and find the various other fluff for my second run and my word did it take a twisted turn. Add in the fact that it's the most illogical generator hiding place in the game.
If anyone looked through that DKC2 secrets articles posted here last night it's like the compete opposite of that.

It does at least have this though.

Sonic CD is so far from a 1/10 it's not even funny. That's almost as bad a ranking as saying Sonic 2K6 is a 5/10.

But Wacky Workbench is certainly the worst stage in the game, yes, if only for that confounded bouncy floor.

I gave Sonic CD at least 3 good tries (Going far enough to beat the game most of those times) and I still hate it terribly. There is one fun level in that game and I have to go through a bunch of terrible stages to get there. And Wacky Workbench is one of the worst Sonic levels I've played. Only surpassed by the death pits ridden Sky Canyon and Altitude Limit.

Like I said before, the game revolves around time travel so why do so many of the levels work against you? At least it appears in the Gems Collection they had mercy and severely reduced the time needed to jump through time but then they changed it back. None of the levels outside of Stardust are any good:

Palmtree Panic: A kinda weird look Green Hill Zone, a simple zone but nothing remarkable about it.
Collision Chaos: A pinball level set in...what exactly? It's like a zone that doesn't know what it wants to be so it assualts you with color and lots of pointless bouncing around.
Tidal Tempest: Reminds me of a futuristic Labryinth...a more colorful version but it's still a crummy water level.
Quartz Quadrant: Is it supposed to be a mine...or...what? What does this level want to be? And the conveyer system is kinda annoying.
Wacky Workbench: *insert a bunch of censored words here* this level. This level can go to hell because it's so poorly designed. Super charged floor, background hazards...it has it all.
Stardust Speedway: Very fast level, this one most reminds me of playing an actual Genesis game...plus the music (US side) is cool too.
Metallic Madness: Chock full of hazards, is long and is also generally a real pain to playthrough. Death Egg this isn't.

Like seriously? A maddening collection of levels, highlighted by one gem. Only Sonic Rush is worse when it comes to a collection of levels.

And the less said about the Special stages, the better. Seriously they are no fun at all.

People say its a surreal kind of game...well there are plenty other surreal kind of games I can play which are more fun than this.
Thus I consider it a 1/10 game, only redeemed by the soundtrack and Stardust Speedway.

Screw Sonic CD.

Heh, why do people post/forward things that seem like they could be fun at a time when I can't budget the time for it? :p Well, I hope it does decently. (Unless those IRC things truly descend into cliques and whatnot; that part doesn't sound fun.)

Stop playing awful Sonic games!
I like Sonic CD outside of Wacky Workbench being annoying as hell.

This. It's stupidly annoying.

WHAT IS THIS?

WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS

Edit: I just remembered that the Past version of this portion of the map is even worse.

Darn you Nintendo and your download caps. My PS3 laughs at you...LAUGHS.

Wait no, it refuses to let me get online...screw you Nintendo, my PS3 and 360 work on it perfectly and yet you refuse to work...=(

While I wait for Nintendo to catch up in the 21st century, I'm trying to see how fast I can beat Emerald Hill...so far I've gotten 27 seconds but I remember as a kid hitting 26...I can do better!

Guys, after playing the Genesis games...I think I may have to take back my opinion on Sonic 4.

Annnnnnd how did I forget the Aquatic Ruin music? I have to add it to my Ipod soon. And after playing it, I don't think I hate this level as much as I used to.

Screw you Blue Pirahna, screw yooooouuu...hey, I bet these guys evolve into Johnny from Rush Adventure.

People want to know why gambling is so bad, look at Sonic...teaching those poor kids how to gamble with the one armed bandit. Shame on you Sega...shaaaaaaaaaaaaame. Casino Night isn't colorful enough though...I wish they would bling it out even more like Casino Street. This is supposed to be Vegas! Viva Las Vegas!

I hate how if you go into ball mode on the flippers and stuff, you sometimes get stuck in ball mode and Sonic won't uncurl...glitches, glitches...we got some glitches!

WHAT THE FREAKING HELL?! Gad zooks, bonkers and gee whillikers...the Blue Pirahna went backwards to hit me. Backwards...warping time and space, destroying the code of the Matrix...destroying the laws of physics and my own mind to bite me. Why...why...is this life?

Play Mystic Cave for the funky beats.

It is funky...Funkzilla fun.

The Mystic P Funk...take a trip down to the Starship

Oh oh oh and we got some lag...or something, there are some frames between when you hit an invincibility box and when it actually kicks in and I found that out the hard way. Ouch. Bye rings...fly fly fly away from my gloved hand...

Hee hee hee!

So like is Hill Top like in the clouds or something? I never really gave the background a hard look before. And I am glitching the hell out of this game, springs won't work, I walk through walls...I break the code!

...Are you playing Backbone's port by any chance? I heard their ports were bad but geez that sounds really glitchy!

Also I was asleep all day, Green Scar visited the IRC! :O

also who is Bean, tell him/her I'm alive now

I'm playing on my Genesis but it's a copy from my childhood and I ripped into the code of those games so much, weird stuff happens a lot.

If I ever give Backbone another cent...even the smell of a penny...I will sell all my games.

I just jumped through a solid platform. *Chris Rock voice* And you know what happened when I jumped? I jumped through a *insert string of cuss words here* platform!

*Spinball Break*

Toxic Caves...I'd like to believe exists in all of our towns...somewhere down below, a tiny blue rodent is being knocked around by brightly lit flippers, trying to avoid a hideous and evil metallic dragon as he strains to attain the white light at the end of the tunnel. Oh Sonic...if you see a long dark tunnel, STAY AWAY FROM THE LIGHT!

Ahem...I'm gonna bag me some worms. Fried worms for all!

I think my Genesis is bewitched, I keep glitching through platforms and like...stuff. I need to get my friends from the Other Side to help me out.

I think I've hit 34 Sewar Warps.

Ahhh yes, I remember how the barrel that followed you around, mysteriously moves by itself once you unlock the boss. Oh and the bulletin board needs to be more snarky.

His freaky form aside (This never freaked me out as a kid and I don't know why), I'm sad we don't hear this boss music more often...it is boss. I am boss...this is the boss music of boss!

I went back to playing Generations since installing my new 7950 and man, I forgot how good this game looks and now at a completely solid 60. I've been opening it up and killing time here and there to play and look at it. Currently planning to do all the challenges and S rank them 32/45 so far for New Sonic. Although not really looking forward to old Sonic, something about his movements in this game feel slightly off enough that I don't want to play him.

Most of the new Sonic challenges are actually fun, except anytime it features one of his friends. Then it's just some tedious, gimmicky thing.

Sonic Rush is worse when it comes to a collection of levels.

Whoa now let's not get crazy here.

It's kind of funny how all my friends who don't play Sonic generally seem to think Rush is one of the best. Also I agree with them, but outside of Unleashed Wii and Sonic 4 I love Dimps' Sonic games so :

Leaf Storm and Water Palace is as good as it gets. Everything else is either too cluttered or a real pain of a level to get through.

I've been thinking lately that Sonic is a double edged sword for SEGA. Unlike Mario, most of the time it's quite a ways bit more difficult to create levels for and at the cost of also making the game shorter at the same time.

Tell me about it. Sparkling Seaside Zone was such a difficult level to make, ugh.

Explains why levels can be so hit or miss at times. Other games, there can be a whole string of levels I like but Sonic...each one can be a home run or a failure.

Sonic levels are difficult to design because you have to think of every possible situation and avoid as many poor enemy/spike/pit placement as possible. Of course that's a bit of an exaggeration because once you get the hang of it it isn't too bad.

Dimps has no excuse though (I still demand an explanation about White Park Act 3, Dimps. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!). They've been designing Sonic games since Pocket Adventure.

Is Sonic Pocket Adventure good? It looks kinda decent.

It's actually fun the last time I played it... despite being unoriginal. The music selection is really awkward as hell though.

EDIT: I ought to replay it and see how it holds up. And funfact: with an exception of Chemical Plant, every level that Sonic Pocket Adventure ripped off was ripped off again in Sonic 4 Ep 1 and 2.

Hmm...It seems like Sonic 2 essentially for the Neo Geo. At least from the level layout I can't notice any differences besides some extra BG stuff or altered colors.

I might be mistaken but I thought the level layout was mostly different with a few nods here and there.

Sonic Pocket Adventure is surprisingly not dimpstastic, it's kinda rehash, but it is an actual 8bit Sonic game I enjoy.

Seems they used Sonic 3's music for this one.

It's almost like night and day at times compared to the console versions, right? In terms of framerate and general look. Planning on getting any mods for it at all, or not really?

Pocket Adventure is good, and the remixes are really nice-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpnaEw_FQzQ
It's a remix of the Boss theme of 3 though (which in turn is a remix of Sonic 2...at least I believe it is).

This is Green Scar, and I'm back
I've been away for a while
But I'm here to kick some butt in Sonic Gaf

And so on.

Maaaaaaaybe you wanna workshop this some more.

Welcome back!! How was your vacation from GAF? :p

I've been played a buttload more games. Mario 3D Land, Ocarina 3D, Sleepy Dawgs, Sly Raccoon... I think the GAF stereotype of talking about games more than playing them is super true. :lol

Shame it coincided with a significant increase in my work for uni. Hell, I'm supposed to be writing an essay right now. Procrastination is eternal, GAF or no GAF.

Oh, and I'm calling dibs on OT2. I saw Beef thinking he could get it, but nuh-uh sister, nuh-uh!

I play games here.

More people need some spinny spin Spinball in their life. I just wish there were more stages. Pinball and Sonic go so well together. Give me a checkered board like Green Hill, give me a water board like Hydrocity and the casino level needs to assault the player with bright lights, flashing lights and enough doggone lights to give anyone a seizure and render them comatose as they mumble the words to the song.
