I have a tendency to always assume everyone is white, or occasionally Asian.
I think we said that most of SonicGAF is black or from Britishland with some exceptions a while ago.

I think some people were surprised when I said I was West Indian and not Asian. -South- Asian roots, maybe.

Like I mentioned in the thread, it's really not as bad as those screenshots imply because you get hella rings through normal gameplay. I've just played through the first tour in World Tour mode and racked up nearly 20k, didn't spend a penny on microtransactions.

That said, it's certainly no replacement for the Vita version as far as being the definitive portable edition.
Yeah, as far as I can see, the Vita version is truly the best mobile version of the bunch.

I don't know why people are surprised by the IAP, though. I think I've come to the realization that a lot of the games from bigger companies just feature it. But with that said, like you said, you can certainly advance just fine as-is without paying a cent. Rayman Jungle Run/Fiesta Run has IAP and I had no idea because you could progress normally. Same with Final Fantasy ATB. I could progress by myself just by changing the in-game clock. :V I mean, we have a few games on Vita that feature IAP, but like some mobile games, they just don't feature it as heavily as the Zynga model did.

It's only when you do have to pay out the ass for the original game and then -have- to pay for IAPs, then I have a problem. But I don't think I've played a mobile game where you were absolutely forced to pay for something in order to advance. Zynga abused that model completely, and I guess that's where it gets its perception from.

I've come to actually like mobile games a lot over the past year. There's a lot of good stuff on there, some of which made my GotY list this year.

Does anyone know where I can find most of the Wave Master Studios composers group photo? I've seen it somewhere, I don't remember.
I don't think Wave Master Inc has it on their website anymore, which is really weird. I know the [H] photo's still there, and that's from the Sega Sound Unit.

It could be on the site still, but I'm having a hell of a time finding it since it looks like the Wave Master site got bigger from the last time I checked.

You're right Schala, Xillia's EX Dungeon is a pain in the ass. It's just 20 floors of recycled maps with nothing unique. I ended up just making a beeline for each portal. And I finally beat the Golden Mage Knight, which in itself took me 45 minutes. Took me five months but now I can finish up Sonic Lost World because I'm finally done with Tales of Xillia.
until the Milla playthrough
Milla playthrough should honestly take you 4-6 hours. It took me that long both times I plat the game.

Plat takes about 60-80 hours depending. I plat the game twice and don't want to go back to Xillia 2 in a hurry despite having tried to make to effort to do so. Don't plat the game if you're going to play Xillia 2 because you'll dislike the environments forever because asset reuse. I, and other importers from what it seems like, just don't want to play Xillia 2 further than I already have because it's rather creatively bankrupt in terms of its environments and trophy requirements. :/

Did you beat the three Golden Mage Knights and then completely beat the EX Dungeon? I thought the EX Dungeon was more boring than anything else. I felt they just didn't try anymore. Xillia 2's EX Dungeon is a little better, but I feel like it's best to go through it after multiple playthroughs since your affection meter between characters can be carried over on a NG+. I'd also like to note that Xillia 2's EX Dungeon is impossible with more than 2 players if you're playing MP, as you MUST be linked with someone to cause damage (otherwise you'd be doing 1 damage).

With that said, it's not a secret that I don't like the Xillia games as much as GAF does (and I knew GAF would like it way more than I would for various reasons), which is why I've decided to refrain from looking at/posting in Tales threads for a while (also because they tend to drive me nuts).

trying to get through ys and wonderful 101 simultaneously. both are the same length but w101 seems like it goes on forever. i've both for about five hours each and ys is mindless dumb stuff but i'm liking it more than w101.
I don't even know if I'll get to TW101 yet since I'm playing BD and AC: Pirates atm.

AC Pirates is pretty fun. There are some misgivings I have (with respect to balancing and the whole "progress the story further to unlock this upgrade" thing), but I'm enjoying it more than AC3. More shit to do, basically. Ship Upgrades and hideout upgrades work similar to building up towns or much like AC2's Monteriggioni model.

SonicGAF's Song of the Day - #98

Song: Sea Gate
Game: Sonic Heroes
Composer: Jun Senoue

Guitars: Jun Senoue
Bass: Takeshi Taneda
Drums: Toru Kawamura
Sonic Heroes track. :(

You basically said what I was going to say. Half-baked theme for a half-baked game.

Y'know how everyone moans about Navi and Fi etc from the Zelda series? Omochao is that but with a genuinely irritating voice. (Okay Navi's is annoying as well.)

You can at least destroy Omochao. Those other two are invincible and are therefore worse by default.

I'm decidedly neither black nor from Britishland.

I mean, I spent Summer '96-Summer '99 in Cheltenham, but that doesn't really make me British. Honorary Brit at best.

I sorta love omochao for how outright silly the lil' fucker is, especially when you do bad things to him. I also confess that he did legitimately help me at least twice when I was younger.

I forgot which stage it was, but it was a knuckles level where you were in a dark, cave-like area. It was near pitch black, and the only thing I saw in the room was Omochao's glowing orange eyes.

Kinda made me jump when I first saw it lol

You may have said it but I don't believe it.
But this does make me think, Heroes Soundtrack almost works in perfect tandem with the progression of the stages themselves, starts off well with the opening Seaside and Ocean Palace stages, then begins sliding downhill in the Powerplant and keeps getting progressively weaker until Frog Forest does its best to salvage both the level design and soundtrack but the stages afterwards drag it back down closing on the solid if not remarkable Egg Fleet/Final Fortress combo.
Soundtrack ultimately ends with Eggman's legs cracking to a gentle piano piece.

Who came up with the idea of the 'emblem' style/design as the cover for S&K?

I even like Rail Canyon's theme ヽ(´▽`)/

There's very few songs I dislike from the game, but I felt the majority of them were great. Also those casino and mansion songs, so gud

It's time for the Americans to get what we've been getting for the past two weeks, except for the ice storm.

Though, I don't think you guys should complain about the cold because it's really really really cold here and the PS4 can't even double as a space heater like the PS3 could.

Y'all shouldn't be complaining about the snow.

I love the snow and the cold. A Foot and a half of snow in a day and -30 wind chill two days later is a bit much even for me.

That's a pretty interesting question, one I'm surprised I haven't asked myself. I looked through the S&K credits and there's no specific accreditation for a cover artist. It could be any of the following artists, or perhaps not even:

Character Designer: Takashi Thomas Yuda
C.G. Artist: Kunitake Aoki
Animator: Takashi Thomas Yuda
Enemy Artist: Satoshi Yokokawa
Scene Artists: Kunitake Aoki, Chie Yoshida, Tsuneko Aoki, Shigeru Okada, Takashi Thomas Yuda, Satoshi Yokokawa
Art Assistant: Osamu Ohashi

Whose idea was it to fill a Sonic game with all sorts of tiny ledges that constantly stop your momentum and, worse, make you automatically slowly wall climb them? What happened to slopes?

And you're right, the homing attack is screwed. I died a dozen times before it finally decided to charge up to max and knock the red guy off the edge. I have no idea what its deal is.

That is the weirdest shit, lol. Why are the bridges in Lost World raised like 6 inches off the ground? What was the purpose of that?

edit: I just Mario Tennis on the 3DS VC and I can't handle the nostalgia. The intro music started playing and I started tearing up.

I should try out those games sometime. Hearing them ahving RPG elements sounds very interesting.

And in speaking of nostalgia, going a bit off topic but it's kind of strange but I don't feel as nostalgic towards things as I used to these days. However I still enjoy all these old games as much as I have before! Nostalgia-glasses be damned, Pokemon Blue is still hella fun.

Sonic Lost World in two sentences.

Hahaha pretty much.

I only just noticed this post now for some reason... no, there's no reward that I'm aware of for fighting him the other two times, so I'm leaving that for later if I feel like it. I don't want to go through another 55 floors.

Speaking of asset reuse, I wonder when we're ever going to get a fresh set of generic enemies.

Snow still has that magical feeling for me since I haven't lived in an area that wasn't hot and sunny most of the time. It's pretty cool seeing it in Vegas every once in a blue moon, but I'm sure I wouldn't have the same sentiment if I had to shovel snow every morning.

Bravely Default demo is awesome...must resist importing a 3DS to play it a month early.

I always liked the Eternia, Symphonia, NDX set of monsters. Eggbears are cool too I suppose, but most of the enemies are generic yeah. :/

Someone story-timed Sonic Universe 59, I liked it, and man Omega is hilarious in this issue.
I take it Eclipse is a new character for the comic right?
