Lmaooo, this dude pasterpl pasterpl really said that Sea of Thieves retaining 20% of its 69k max ccu is better than Helldivers 2 retaining ~12% of its 458k ccu 11 months after release. This reminds me of when Xthots say shit like "God of War *only* sold 25 million, that's 1/5th the total PS4 install base, that's really not that impressive" Remind me which was the last Xbox game that surpassed 5 million in sales? Was it Halo 3 or some shit? In 2007?

Halo 5 sold 5 million in its first three months of release. No clue what the final total was.
However, after that, Microsoft began changing their metric for success. Sales of everything began dropping when Game Pass became a major part of their platform.
I'm not sure they have good "sales totals" for any of their games any more.

Then their minions shouldn't bring up sales numbers or Steam ccu numbers in arguments, since they use Game Pass as a cover for both.

Kinect Adventures

People don't want to admit that Kinect was the highlight of Xbox sales wise but look back at the numbers it was Kinect that got Xbox 360 to 80 million

I wonder what will happen to the lunatic xbox fanboys after the hardware and gamepass are gone and the "xbox" starts operating exactly like Bethesda and Activision, when they were profitable.

Maybe they'll join a group of flat-earthers... they'll start to become trained monkeys who jump on politicians' stages? but without having money auhhuauh

I've just looked at your post history and you seem to 100% be what you are talking about but in a different camp.

Just let it go dude. It's video games.

It makes absolutely sense, because Xbox is no longer competition. Sony loves easy money, this is easy money. But let's not overdiscuss it. You say no, i say yes.
With Xbox dying, their userbase will be moving onto a different platform.
Playstation will be the most logical option for the vast majority of the Xbox installbase.

You didn't think it through at all.

It would be crazy if this happened but I doubt it will.
The person who started this rumour, Special Nick is now saying it's been cancelled.

It was all bullshit from start to end. If it happened it wouldn't be any different to MLB either but as of right now there's nothing to suggest it is.

You know what. I hate these "leakers" "content creators"

Modern tech has given everyone a voice and they haven't earned it or deserve it.

Bunch of idiots.

Why would existing Xbox owners sell their Xbox and get a PS5? There is no reason and the casuals don't even know about console sales. All the important games are still coming to Xbox and as long as it stays this way, they won't move.
If a game like GTA VI or FIFA wouldn't come to Xbox, they would move.

Sony porting Helldivers after a year to Xbox wouldn't change anything. No Xbox owner would say "Oh wow, finally so i don't have to buy a PS5".

That doesn't look to be happening though. When you look at sales numbers.

Isnt ps5 behind ps4 now?
Wasn't there data that showed a significant portion of the PS5 userbase was completely new to Playstation, which falls in line with a steady decrease of the Xbox installbase compared to last-gen?

Whatever Xbox is losing, the majority of that is what Sony is gaining.

This will only snowball from here. And that's ignoring the fact that Sony repeatedly stated that they ultimately want people on Playstation consoles, not on other platforms.

No, casuals are ignoring Xbox lately, as word on the street says Xbox is dead and all their games will be coming to Playstation anyway.

Again, Sony wants people on Playstation consoles and Xbox dying is pushing people away.

I still don't get how porting an old game to a dead platform would stop people on that platform from buying a PS5. I don't see any disadvantage for Sony whatsoever. But the game day1 on pc on the other hand probably cost them some console sales.

Sony did say that. There must be some truth i guess but the data shows that ps5 sales are not ahead of ps4. So they either have a large user base of ps4 users who have no interest in upgrading (that's bad) or the one growth sector we constantly hear about is pc and steam.

It's about incentive, dude.
Not exactly rocketscience.

Or is the concept of exclusivity suddenly a completely foreign concept?

Sure, but the economy is terrible as well.
For some reason, people like to act like everything returned to normal after the pandemic ended.

We are still talking about a then 1 year or older game with a then >90% player decline. This wouldn't have any impact on PS5 sales, that's no rocketscience. either.

Firstly 50K isn’t low.

Secondly why does it matter when HD2 is a paid game?

The game has sold 12 million copies in 3 months.

It isn’t an F2P which is dependent on micro-transactions where high players numbers matter for the games survival.

Let’s not confuse a Paid GaaS with F2P GaaS.
So from the initial players only 0.84% are playing. Imagine thread about any other game titles game XYZ lost more than 99% of their player base 8 months after launch, how would you cal, it? It is nowhere to be found it top ten played charts on PlayStation, Steam seams the only one holding the fort.

And that is based on assumption that helldivers stopped selling after achieving 12mln in sales.

According to SteamDB, HD2 currently has about 17K CCU on Steam.

HD1 had a peak CCU of ~7K on Steam.

Pretty sure that Sony and Arrowhead are more than happy with current numbers, as HD2's success was completely unexpected.

So your argument is kinda moot.

I am sure that Sony and Arrowhead are very happy how the game did, especially after achieving 12mln sales after 3 months and becoming the best selling Sony game this gen (I mentioned that multiple times), so I am sure what you are suggesting. I never said that HD2 was unsuccessful (it is probably one of the most financially successful games they have ever done within this first 3 months), but as I said, proven by numbers, is the fact that huge part of that initial player base is not longer there. So no, my point still stands. GaaS game is SP where you relay on huge sales in initial period to generate positive ROI, GaaS game objective is to become “evergreen” money printing machine without frequent major overhauls.

I'm all for this idea, especially if Sony forces Xbox players to create a PSN account for the game as a PC, that would be awesome. I can't wait. (I leaned back in my chair, closed my eyes and imagined - I bought a game for Xbox but in order to play on Xbox I need to create a Sony account. My God, this is divine)

Then you didn't listen to Ryan when he discussed their Gaas strategy and he stated that Sony's criteria for a success isn't a binary one.

Not only that, we have absolutely no idea what their projections were for HD2, but it won't be anywhere near 12mln sales and I doubt they expected the game to have a higher CCU than 17K on Steam by now.
What they have now would probably be what they expected to be a best-case scenario.

I didn't need to see your history, you replied

Really, the end of the Xbox will be good for the mental health of Xbox fans, especially those on Twitter.

The problem that anyone who has the potential to believe in conspiracy theories, after having already believed in "helldivers2 on xbox", may end up joining another sect with another lunatic delusion.

It's much easier for a guy who believes in HD2 on the Xbox to join another type of sect than to stop being a delusional fanatic.

Sony's Gaas games are multiplatform. Just not on Xbox. But why would Sony follow Microsoft's example there? MS put games on PS5 simply because they need more revenue streams. The growth from Microsoft Gaming is coming solely from the ABK side of things. That isn't a problem Sony has currently.
Uh....35 or so million Xbox users. I think Sony would like a few million more users don't you think?
