Sony Is Allegedly In Preliminary Talks To Bring Helldivers 2 To Xbox Series X|S

The Discord manager confirmed this about a week ago. He said it was up to Sony and Phil to “duke out”. They aren’t even in the talking phase.
TBF the discord manager would know jack shit lol

but this is Sony, any xbros shouldn't get their hopes up. Best you can do is hope for Lego Horizon in a couple years.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

As i've said multiple times in the past... only a matter of time before both companies have more games on both platforms.
That could be a good thing, but regardless of who’s in charge, they’re not going to just let it go easily. Now, with all the recent moves by Microsoft (like buying Bethesda and Activision), they’ve basically changed their bargaining power. But let’s ignore all that for now. It would be in Sony, Microsoft, and even Nintendo’s best interest to have an equal share of the market so they can all make money and be successful. If they can figure that out, it would be great; and people could choose their own ecosystem. But the real problem is, they’d all lose their motivation or interest to offer their own ecosystem, which isn’t what we want, is it?

It’s a nice thought, but I’m not sure if it will materialize.

Yes to the first question, No to the 2nd one (where did I suggest that Xbox is thriving? Or do you agree with meme saying that Xbox sold 0 consoles?)

I don't usually take memes as serious arguments. Why do you?

Looking at steam charts it is getting at most 10% of the peak players nowadays, and this is on weekends and holidays, weekdays it is lower. So yeah, they have lost 90% of initial player base = almost dead.
Is Halo Infinite Dead then?

Helldivers 2 will have a constant fan base who will play regularly and when new content drops players will drop back in.

The 3rd game with a new engine is going to slaughter next generation. Money printing machine.

This would have to be my most regrettable purchase on Steam this year.
Reskin it with ODST and the Flood and it'll go nuts on Xbox for like... all 12 of us

Yes, Halo Infinite is dead now imo. and it was already dead some time ago. Multiplayer got like 1% of the peak players still playing, but it is dead. 99% of the initial player base left the game.

Helldivers 2 are getting below that 10% of player base on some week days, but it relatively fresh game compared to Halo, both are in their last stages. Helldivers 2 is almost dead, and Halo Infinite is already dead.

I am sure that HD3 will sell very well, especially on PC but by the time they do release they will have to bring something new to the table(except new engine and better graphics), as I am assuming we will be getting more HD2 clones in near future, especially in the F2P GaaS space from other developers.

The game has like 50k concurrent players as we speak and that's just on steam. So many games wish they were as dead as Helldivers.

Yeah his take is absolute stupidity

I think it makes sense for Sony to go ahead and port it at this point. The exclusivity window already got whoever was going to buy a PS5 just for this game to do so.

And Xbox still has a large Shooterbro audience that would love to play this. Bungie is already releasing games even day and date on Xbox, so I don't see the harm to their overall strategy by having HD2 come to Xbox

It will sell a few extra million units, I'd think.

I know the Sony fanboys will cry but all GAAS games should be multiplatform. That is one reason why MS put Grounded and Sea of Thieves on PS5.

Sony's Gaas games are multiplatform. Just not on Xbox. But why would Sony follow Microsoft's example there? MS put games on PS5 simply because they need more revenue streams. The growth from Microsoft Gaming is coming solely from the ABK side of things. That isn't a problem Sony has currently.

Because Bungie already is, and even if Xbox audience is small, it's not small for shooter games.

Sony releases their AAA games on PC that do like 50k peak users all time (and generally sell like shit, from what I can tell). I think HD2 on Xbox would be way more viable of a port than, say, Ratchet on PC.

As I said it didn’t make sense, would make sense if it would be day 1 multi-platform release. But doing it now it would waste of time and money working on porting it to Xbox.
It's just funny how some people are acting as if it would be the same thing as xbox putting games on playstation.

Last 30 days average was 31,715 just below 7% vs peak number or 11.6% compared to peak monthly average, so the players lost is between 93%-88.6% - this suggest that approx 9 out 10 players moved to other games since launch. Even when you take your 50k current cu numbers, the numbers are not looking great for a GaaS game. Just to be clear, I said that it is almost dead, it is not completely dead like eg. halo infinite.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.

not every GaaS game need concurrent player count like COD.

i dont think arrowhead expect the player count to reach around few hundred of thousands when they launched.

As Skifi28 said, many devs with their games could have amount of concurent players like HD2.

I fail to see how percentages matter. If a game can maintain a healthy amount of users (or a huge amount in this case) it's far from being dead or close to being dead. Baldur's gate 3 also has 90k users right now vs the 900k peak at release, so just 10%, is it dying when a ton of people play daily? Most people usually move on and only a small percentage of users remain, it's normal. If that percentage equates to 100 people then sure, it's dead. On the other hand if it is larger than some brand new big game releases, then it's doing great.

And before the inevitable "But BG3 is not gaas" let me remind you that Helldivers is also a buy to play game.
