Sony lock up Tom Hanks and Ron Howard for more Dan Brown garbage

ugh dan brown. I enjoyed the da vinci code book. I then began to strongly dislike basically everything else about dan brown :(

I'll watch it. Like this adventure type films, though National Treasure is more enjoyable for me. That being said, I found Angels and Demons more entertaining than Da Vinci Code, I found it better paced and exciting.

On that note, why didn't they make another National Treasure?!

They are making another, they're just taking their sweet ass time.

I'll be there day one. I'm a sucker for these movies, I must've watched both of them about 50 times.

Speaking of which, I need to watch them. Now.

Inferno is horrendous transhumanist propaganda. And boy is it preachy.

This. It's like no one here has even read it, which is probably best for them. I hope the movie keeps its garbage ending so that everyone can LOL and SMH at it like I did while reading it.

I enjoyed the first two, will watch the third.

Hanks kind of neuters Langdon's character, though. He's way more of a player in the books.

It always just reads like Dan Brown's self-wankery fantasy, so I'm okay with Hanks playing him more normal that debonair.

I'll allow it because at least Hanks has the Spielberg Cold War thriller and A Hologram for the King on the way.

I haven't seen or read any of this Dan Brown nonsense.

I finished Inferno just a few weeks ago, it was a decent book for those throwaway moments. Miles better than The Lost Symbol, I love that they just skip that one.

But yeah, I feel that Tom Hanks is a complete miscast as Robert Langdon.

Lost symbol was a fun read even if some of the plot teleports around every now and then. I actually liked the wisdom/enlightenment theme to it than the preachy religious themes to angels and demons. Sucks they are skipping it.

I've only seen the DaVinci Code movie and it was a piece of shit. Nevermind the ridiculous story and Tom Hanks' Ancient Aliens haircut and ENORMOUS forehead, it wasn't even a decently made movie. What a piece of shit.

They're skipping Lost Symbol?

Regardless of the book series order (doesn't matter since the movies didn't really stick to it), Lost Symbol would've been huge in the US being set in Washington.

Well..the audience for those movies have always been mostly foreign and the studio propably thinks America's history isn't generally all that interesting to people outside of USA. Especially since National Treasure already did it, so it would feel like rethread.

I liked the movies and the books, i'm all in for more. Haters be damned.

Yup. Sure, they aren't the greatest, but they're definitely better than 90% of the shit released over the last few years.

I'm disappointed they skipped The Lost Symbol. I haven't read Inferno yet, so I suppose I should do that.

I like that they're doing Inferno first, even though Browns 3rd Langdon book was "The Lost Symbol", which was just a meh book to begin with.

I assume that if Inferno does well, they'll either adapt Symbol into a movie or wait for Brown's next book and just forget Symbol ever existed.

At least Dan Brown has an excuse, he writes this stuff. What's Hanks? Didn't make enough cash from his greedy typewriter app IAPs?

great job on the title, op. had a good laugh.

i agree the story is junk, but i thought it was entertaining as heck. b-movie style fun with high budget, and tom hanks immaculate hairline.

Well the last film had anti-matter bombs and parachuting clergy, so I'll be interested to see how they try and one-up that. I'm expecting something awesome like the Pope kung fu fighting Lucifer during the Super Bowl.

Has Howard even made a really good movie?
A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13, Frost/Nixon, Rush, Cinderella Man, Ransom, Backdraft, etc.

In short, Yes. He has made absolutely terrific movies. He made a bunch of duds, but he is a very capable director. Besides, how can you hate on Opie Taylor (played by Ronny) in Andy Griffith Show?

I think Tom Hanks is one of the best actors of his generation, but never have I been more unimpressed with him than I was watching him in those two films.

He is so much better than that material, and Captain Phillips was proof of that.

I really like the movies, but this book (Inferno) was awful. I found it so, so dull (all the "omg, I understand what that means now!" stuff just wasn't interesting) and the ending is just absurd. I mean, not in a priest-in-a-helicopter way, but in a "why did I just sit through the proceeding 90% of the narrative?"

Like I said, I liked the others.

Angels and Demons was one of the funniest non-comedy films I've ever seen.

Pope Ewan McGregor saving the Vatican by flying an antimatter bomb in a plane into the sky before parachuting away from it as it explodes
absolutely fucking killed me when I saw it the first time.

If there's more of that in this new one, I am there.

I loved that film and his yanky accent was great except when he was screaming and all I could hear was Woody.

Same here. That scene slayed me.

I can't say I didn't have a good time.
