Exactly, the whole discussion started in the PC thread because "PC fans" couldn't admit that consoles have an advantage, like needing more powerful PC hardware to deliver console-equivalent graphics.

That's when I started mocking the "end of the PC."

Especially for the sicko who keeps discussing % of "programming for metal."

Of course consoles have an advantage with low-level dedicated APIs, but thanks to DX12 and Vulkan it is not much of a one anymore. You certainly won't get 50% extra or double the performance on console equivalent hardware.

But why you started mocking PCs is utterly irrelevant, you claimed you would not see console gamers doing something when you literally did that exact thing. And it wasn't just you either, there were plenty of other posters in that thread attempting to dunk on PC. Most of them are banned for that very fanboy warring. You seem to be following the exact same pattern.

They want to transform the studios from an organization that built games to showcase their consoles into an organization that builds games for profit, independent of PS hardware.

Basically, no studio gets to piggyback on the overall success of other studios and console hardware. Every studio needs to be profitable on its own or there will be consequences.

And I bet she's also thinking about any games or gaming IP that makes money beyond gaming. As in being a TV show or a movie too. Sony really wants to grow their gaming IP, beyond gaming and into other sectors.

I'm assuming that seeing how the Uncharted movie, TLOU, and the Twisted Metal show have generated really good revenue helps. Even the Gran Turismo movie made a slight profit, but more importantly probably helped the overall Gran Turismo brand, being that it hit #3 on the Netflix charts and received a 98% Rotten Tomatoes audience score.

Sounds like you have more a of a problem with gaming as a whole than with just Sony.

Not really. I still play and enjoy games , I just have little energy to trudge through games like Outlaws that bring nothing new and what they do bring is subpar compared to older games.

I still enjoyed Spider-man 2 like I enjoyed the original/remaster because the original was good but certainly nothing worthy of a huge price hike - a friend lent me that too as I was fuss. Playability has nothing really new and the graphics changes are largely inconsequential, even if they look better, certainly not worth the price of a new console as has been my feeling this whole gen, and PC porting has made that sentiment even worse.

So as I tried to explain from my previous message you quoted, I'm struggling to justify needing the console when the games exclusive to it and scream "system seller" are pretty much non-existent. Less exclusive content just makes looking ahead to PS6 even less desirable where the potential promise of "system seller" game is even smaller than it was at the start of this gen - before all the strategy changes. I'm still interested in the hardware for hardware's sake.

People have accused a lot of Gaf for being Sonygaf over this gen, but in reality lots of us stating we aren't giving PlayStation a free pass for failing to deliver games that meet this gen's hardware expectations, or abandoning their first and third party full exclusives strategy is just proof that Xbox could have been the dominant player or owned half the AAA console market if they'd delivered and given us games we had to have - that needed us to buy their console. I'm just being consistent IMO and still love great gaming.

PC gets more indies than console since the process for publishing there is easier. Steam had 19k games released on the platform last year. PS store shows 7.5k games total for PS5.

Wrong. I play consoles for exclusives and the benefits of getting great 3rd party games. Now that Sony is not really releasing 1st party games and Steam eventually gets whatever they do release PLUS they get FAR more games that are actually quality indies, I'm happy to stay on Steam over consoles. Plus Switch 2!

Wanting and actively working to get users to spend more time on devices is another entirely.
In a world where users only have so much time GAAS are unsustainable.

But it isn't hot air in terms of hardware compared to PS4, the hardware hasn't even been scratched as shown by the recent UE5.7 Witcher showcase vertical slice.

It is just a poor strategy shift by Sony to hit PC 12month's later too and minimal effort, as the latest MLID video dev talks about at 45mins to 1:07mns, and a lack of capable game directors, designers and developers that aren't funnelled by UE/Unity default features churning out template games.

Marvel Tokon, Patapon 1+2 Replay, Everybody's Golf Hot Shots were announced in 2025. For 2025 Sony will have a record number of PC releases, wouldn't make sense to announce more and in any case they don't have pretty much to port anyways.

I forgot now which one of the upcoming China Hero Project and India Hero Project games were going to be published by Sony, but I assume they will be released on PC and very likely day one because countries like China or India are pretty PC centric and for these teams extra PC sales are needed, while Sony don't care about exclusivity of these games (their main goal is to market PlayStation on these countries and get many pitches from these countries from other teams, where among tons of crap there may be some new team with a lot of potential).

Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Yotei, Saros and Wolverine haven't been announced for PC because they wait for several months or a few years after their release to announce the PC ports.
