I'm positive Sony is doing their due diligence on this, but Senior VP's also don't tend to sit on computers accessing databases, getting into chats, etc. He likely sat in meetings all day. It is not cause for worry in that sense at all.

I'm pretty sure these gaming networks (Steam, Xlive, PSN, etc.) have systems in place to try and detect grooming type behavior in an automated fashion. Hopefully it works well.

I get what you're saying. Feels like we need a different word for this. While this is wrong in every single way, it's a very different class of crime compared to going after babies or toddlers (fucking blows my mind every time I think there are people that are into this).
