don't know why companies do this, but these few countries are very often blocked.
There's a new law which recently came into effect requiring game companies to obtain an official license to distribute their games there. I guess Shift-Up / Sony didn't apply for the license because they thought it wasn't worth it based on how many copies they'd sell in Vietnam. That's the only thing that comes to mind on why they'd block the game in VN.Vietnam
The long-term region lock specifically was one of the dumbest decisions I've ever seen Sony make, so it's good to see them going back on it.
Isnt the game banned country side by some?

As for Russia pretty much all the big publishers dont want to be in the middle of that shit so Valve just doesnt set a price for the game.
Some games have no prices but can still be activated, so Valve isnt seen as being complicit in accepting money from Russia.
Let's hope this paves the way for the rest.Their games are still region locked.
So Sony hasnt done a turn around, I think ShiftUp just had more power with this release cuz im sure they own the actual IP.
Every Sony game since they started this policy has random blocks for countries.
Let's hope this paves the way for the rest.
As I said, keeping all these regions locked for the long-term was just a bad idea, like I get putting your defenses up when you're in the middle of a mass-refund campaign, but keeping them up when it's been long over is just a bad idea imo.
Sony published this game and they resolved the issue just fine.Werent the region locks tied to needing to have a PSN id so any country that doesnt support PSN was auto locked out?
But games that dont even require PSN id still have the same locks.
So it must just be a Sony Publishing mandate now and if its a game Sony owns then devs have no say, ShiftUp owns the game so they can say nah mane we releasing our game wherever we can.
This needs to come from the top....cuz devs arent gonna fight when they are under Sonys thumb, for games which are just published by Sony there is hope.
The others..........

The issue is organizational within Sony and thus very solvable imo.
They're still the publisher of the game - hence why Shift Up didn't know about the region issues. Sony's publishing/distribution rights for Stellar Blade is the same as it is for HD2.What I mean is this game was also region locked but Sony doesnt own the IP.

Sony probably has a vested interest in continued good faith partnership with Shift Up.
