I REALLY hope this is not the ultimate eventuality.

That game looks really good, but it is NOT good enough to carry a show with.

Uncharted needs to be the flagship.

If The Last Guardian doesn't show up, I give up for real. Last year, our resident "insiders" were saying it was too big for anything but an E3 reveal so I'm holding them to their word. I'm not going back on the "maybe it's going to be at TGS" bandwagon.

There was more than that last year and I thought last year sucked. They showed 4 1st party games, Diablo III, FFXIV, FFXV, KH3, AC: Black Flag, Watch Dogs, Elder Scrolls Online, Mad Max, Destiny and NBA 2K15 along with the indies. They also announced Planetside 2 and DCU Online the day before. I'm guessing you're just using the term "a couple" loosely.
 
all this talking about TLG being a potential focal point for a Sony E3 presence...

True, but they were also talking about the Versus rebranding and KH3 showing up. I don't think anyone was really expecting KH3 so soon.

Anyway, if TLG is there then I fully expect it to be what closes out the show. It won't be the best selling game at the show, but I don't think that there's anything in Sony's portfolio that would net the reaction that it will when it's shown again. And that's what E3 is really all about.

I guess I am using it loosely. I just feel the only first party game they really showed was The Order. DC, Knack, Shadowfall and InFamous were kinda glazed over in trailer form.
 
Square Enix to steal the spotlight. Then TLG to steal that spotlight back as a 'ONE MORE THING' moment.
I hope there is no Morpheus stuff.
 
I'm hoping it'll mostly focus on new/unannounced PS4 games and at least a few new Vita games as well. We'll probably get a new FFXV trailer. I wouldn't mind seeing a new trailer for Persona 5 either.

I expect stage demos for Destiny, The Order 1866 and Assassin's Creed Unity.

I hope they don't spend too much time on Morpheus because it's not like we can get a feel for it by watching it demoed during the conference.
 
I'm expecting some stiff person on stage to say.."our content will give you an experience like nothing you've had before..."

I'm expecting to be bored by graphs showing what their companies has sold

I'm expecting audience members to clap at ackward moments during the presentation

I'm expecting musical acts from performing artists I don't give a crap about.

I'm expecting to see announcements that leaked online weeks ago.

I'm expecting to see some great trailers...and some lame ones too.

I'm kinda expecting them to say at the beginning of the conference "All of the games shown here are running at a resolution of 1080p", I wish it had 60FPS too, but that's just dreams.

Now for games, I'm expecting gameplay of announced titles, and Project Beast, and hopefully other new games.

Maybe as a special guest, Valve?! I just want some megatons.

Vast majority of people don't care about Vita. Sizzle reel is about all it deserves based on sales numbers.
 
I'm expecting to get my hopes up about a Crash reveal right before the event then be depressed as hell after. Sales chatter. Uncharted. Something from Sony Japan. More Order gameplay. Morpheus stuff. New indies. AssCreed with timed exclusivity on DLC. GTAV ps4.
 
i'm expecting a resurgence of old IP breathing new life this gen.

and 1 Japan Dev to come on stage that isn't Konami or Square.

As the bare minimum I would expect some good footage of the order along with a release date. A reveal for that beast souls game. Some word on uncharted. Even just a 30 second sizzle reel giving us some idea of what the graphics will be. Then throw in a few surprised and show off some indies and project morpheus.
 
Warhawk sequel, Syphon Filer 4, indies, Morpheus, new Bend and MM titles. And one more thing...The Last Guardian will be in stores this holiday season!
 
I'm expecting/hoping to see a strong offering of Japanese games. If it's another year dominated by Western games then I'll just go back to my PC.
 
I know most of the stuff mentioned here is probably a given in some way shape or form (including TLG), so I'm gonna wish for something small and simple(ish).

  4. Upcoming PS4 firmware features (now you can actually resume playing a game!)
  5. PS Now details (launching first on PS3 for some reason)
  6. SOE formally announce PS4 ports (Everquest and PlanetSide 2, no release dates for either)
  7. Adam Boyes Indie Spectacular
  8. #DRIVECLUB #REALLYSOON
  9. Reminder that Last of Us 1080p/60fps/awesome edition comes out in one week
  10. Uncharted 4 Teaser #2 (No Gameplay)
  11. The Order 1886 Pre-Recorded Demo (Contains at least three QTEs)
  12. PlayStation Camera games (Until Dawn is back)
  13. Destiny Live Demo ("Beta available first on PS3 and PS4 on July 1")
  14. Assassin's Creed Unity ("With 1080p graphical fidelity only possible on PS4")

  • Wipeout PS4 (Studio Liverpool is dead)
  • New Vita games (...)
  • Shenmue 3 (not in Sony's interest to fund this fully or even partially)
  • Guerilla Games' new IP (likely not ready for showtime)
  • Sony Santa Monica game (studio's already too busy supporting everyone else)
  • Quantic Dream new game (also too early in development)
  • Media Molecule (small studio, ambitious plans)

I would expect a sizzle reel based on GDC footage, and some loose talk about Sony being excited to reveal more about Morpheus in 2015.
 
I don't think Bend are working on a new Syphon Filter and I'm okay with that. I do hope we find out what they've been up to, though.

Substantial in what sense? Someone demoing a major title on stage? That's probably true. But I definitely think that they need to announce some major games that'll support it. And at the very least they need to announce studios that are supporting it even if they don't mention specific names of games. I do think that people are rightfully nervous about Sony and peripherals after Move and Eyetoy. They failed to secure serious support for either of those and their own studios didn't give them much support. So, I think they need to show that Morpheus won't be a repeat of those.

Substantial as in - Concrete game announcements, stage demos and the likes.

At best I expect them to say "Naughty Dog is developing an exclusive Morpheus experience", but realistically I expect a slide with a bunch of studios that are currently developing games for the platform, saying that there are many more to come in next year.

I don't think Sony can afford the time to waste on a product that is more then a year away at this point, when they need to position themselves for this year and Q1 with everything they've got in regards to first party and first on Playstation games.

And coming out now at E3, before the platform is done, could result in over promise and under deliver situation, which will give more backlash then they need. They need to be careful about what they say and do in regards to the new platform. So I expect them to play it really safe until they've ironed out everything internally.
