Sony's E3 2014 - What are we all expecting?

There is also TLoU:Remastered and Lily Bergamo and if that is all Sony has they will certainly underwhelm, quite surprising that with as many studios as they have that is all they got for 2014.

+ Driveclub

Microsoft has Halo remasters and Sunset Overdrive.

We'll obviously hear more as far as unannounced titles go at E3, so it's pointless to assume either company have shown their hand already.

We all know that the Naughty Gods are going to put out some Amazing work on the PS4, lets not get all MisterXMedia up in here about a 2-3X performance boost from some special sauce.

Like kind of stuff is best left to delusional fan boys.

Anyone who would think that is ridiculous. A 10-20% increase could potentially be possible though. I just want to see some damn games, preferably new ips. I sold my PS4 and I'm waiting to pick a new one up after e3.

DriveClub was already on my list. And, I think there will be a few surprises, but I'd be shocked if any of them were scheduled for 2014.

Guilty Gear Xrd is there as well :)

I guess the Uncharted trilogy remastered is a no brainer, since the sequel is most likely coming next year. It reminds me a lot of GOW situation. MS is doing the same with Halo. I don´t see why Sony would not do it with Uncharted trilogy.

If they trhow all the maps from 2 and 3 together I will buy.

I really don't know what to expect. According to some members of the media, they expect to be underwhelmed. I hope that enough is shown to at least put to rest the stupid list wars stuff. I want both companies to show at least enough to compel late-adopters to make the jump to current gen.

On that note, I listened to a podcast today that touched on Sony's games. Does anyone want to guess who said the following?

“Sony has…fucking no games. [It has] a bunch of junk announced every day… There is garbage announced every single day. Whereas Microsoft is lining up a shitload of software. [Microsoft has] Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break… and that Fable game… And other rumored stuff. Whereas Sony just has the Order.”

At least E3 will move us into the next phase of the 'games vs no games' argument I was tired of months ago.

I just want new IP's, give me something that comes out of nowhere and knocks everyone out of the park, like TLOU.
If they can do that, i'll be a happy camper :-)

This happens all the time , the media last year was drinking MS kool aid and it seems to happening again .

Woah don't you think you sold it a bit early?

That guy clearly doesn't give a fuck about Indies.

Here's what I'm expecting:

PS3: 10 Minutes

Most PS3 games will be covered in the PS4 section with multiplatform games/indies. If we're lucky, maybe a Persona 4 trailer. There will probably be a montage of PS3 games coming out as well as a price drop to $199.

Vita: 20-30 Minutes

- Indies
- Gravity Rush 2
- Freedom Wars
- Unannounced AAA Exclusive
- $149 base model

PS4: 1 Hour

- Indies
- Driveclub Trailer
- Uncharted Trailer
- The Order 1886 gameplay demo
- 3-5 Exclusives from Sony's WWS - At least 2 coming this year.
- 3-5 Exclusives from 3rd parties (mostly Japan) - At least 2 coming this year.
- Multiplatform stuff (Destiny trailer, FFXV trailer, AC5 trailer, etc)

I'm expecting Gamescom to cover most of the stuff announced last year.

Woah don't you think you sold it a bit early?

Nah I didn't take a loss on it and I played the games I wanted too. Only game in the summer I want to play is UFC. I'll probably buy one again in the Fall. I have a PS3 so I'm not really missing out on much in the mean time.

lol Quantum Break isn't 2014.

I'm going to guess that it was one of those Xbox fanboys at GiantBomb. BTW, LOL @ "other rumored stuff" on Xbox, but ignoring the fact that there are also rumors about Sony exclusives.

Are you crazy? No one in the enthusiast press would say something like that openly on a podcast.

Gies said it. No shock, I know. Although it's funny that he still holds himself out as not being in Microsoft's corner. Sessler was there and in agreement with what he said. Anthony Gallegos kind of called him out but backed down immediately.
Link? I don't believe it.

Wow, I was so wrong, LOL.

The Xbox fanboy club gathered!

Sessler and Gies why am i not surprise , don't think anyone should take what they say seriously.
Any body that thinks MS going walk over Sony this E3 kidding there self .

I mean all signs point to late 2014.

I'd be shocked. Remedy operate on Square-Enix time and we've seen next to nothing from the game or the TV show thing they have.

Game does look interesting but this is Remedy we're talking about. I don't see it coming this year.

Its Remedy, that game is not making it to 2014 it never was.

Only reason i'm saying this is because Ntkrnl has been on point on almost everything else, and they aren't other exclusives launching this year for X1 except SO, FH 2, and Halo Collection.

Knew Sessler was suspect. He really became an embarassment after e3 last year. What MS game will the media hype this year as the best thing ever? Which one will Keighley say in every tweet and video? Sunset Overdrive? Halo collection? I'm sure they will be great games(hopefully SO is a return to form for Insomniac, loved Resistance), but the media whoring for MS became really apparent last year.

I sort of agree with this. Their first party offerings at the start of this gen have seemed underwhelming to me. That's not going to stop me from getting a PS4 this summer.

It's a typical fanboy argument: "I'm not a fanboy but..." or "I own all consoles LOL, but..."

some in the media must be pissed xbox is losing.

Unless they shoot a whole tv series in the next 6 months, which is highly impossible considering we don't know anything not even the cast, i cannot see QB release this year.

Anyway, while i want Sony to absolutely shatter the earth at E3, i hope they don't blow all their loads (1st,2nd,3rd party and indies), we still have GC, TGS and VGX, i want them to keep dropping new megatons at each of them.

Love how Guies listed a bunch of unannounced Xbox games that absolutely don't have 2014 dates, then he says that Sony just has the order for 2014. Sessler comes up for air and follows with that he doesn't think The Order is ready for 2014 so Sony really has nothing.

To be fair to Sessler, he agreed with the sentiment that Sony woudn't offer much at E3, but he did point out that Sony had more games than Gies gave them credit for. I like Sessler. Preferences are human, and he comes off as a genuine guy. Gies speaks with an air of authority and acts like he is objectively concluding everything with 0 bias, and it really rubs me the wrong way.

its going to be halo 5.

To be fair, he didn't exactly say it the way you quoted. He said all those things, more or less, but not exactly that way. I'm watching football so I can't give the exact quotes but yeah it was pretty dumb.
Yes he did, in that way. He literally said garbage gets announced "for that system" every day. And 2 PS4 exclusives vs. 4-5 XB1 exclusives this fall.

Never listened to Gies in podcast before, but holy fuck...what a tool.

I had a listen to that podcast and honestly, I don't see anything terribly wrong with what they're saying. The description of what Gies said was taken out of context. He was saying PS4 has become like Steam in that every indie in the world is developing for it so a lot of junk finds its way there. I can't argue with that, it's bound to happen when you have that much developer support.

I suggest listening to the podcast rather than going for potshots at Gies/Sessler. I'm not a fan of the former as much as the next guy here but yeah, they weren't shitting on Sony like you guys think.

edit: Already beaten by benny_a.

No he never did say it exactly that way. Quotation marks have a purpose and if you omit certain things and string other things together without indicating this you're not quoting.

After E3, that will all go away. If they are entirely ignorant to the fact that Sony has a huge amount of unannounced 1st party content, then they will be surprised at E3. Works better that was for Sony, if they're expecting to be underwhelmed.

Just crazy to me that they even think that. Insane.
