I've gotten used to the new GI input. Although I still wish it was Forward + ABK, and not back. Just feels unnatural. I also think it costs too much meter that are more often better spent on BE's and CE's. Should only cost a 1/4 imo, or alternatively, 1/2 meter if you land the GI, but 1/8 if you whiff it.

Hmm sounds weird. Well it looks like I will rent first instead of blind buy. I was on the verge of buying the game a few hours ago. Guess I should test drive it first. Unless it has a bullshit online pass.....does it?
I'd probably actually use them if it was only a quarter. Half a meter to land is still too much. I land them consistently when I do use them.

I disagree. For that much meter, not much would change from a gameplay perspective in the implementation of GIs, especially since they defend against all levels in this game.
Tap and let go of guard within 4 frames of impact, I believe.

Using 4 has for GI isn't unnatural considering how you can switch places in a match switching the inputs you use. I'm glad they changed GI like this it will make playing certain people I know in the tourney scene much different especially the kind that prefer the fast hitting female characters much different.
I stay with medium or long range characters so we don't use GI that often not enough for how the bar hits to stop doing it. Anyone doing a bunch of GI's blantantly in the long run is gonna get mistimed and eat a nasty counter setup. Wish I could see how this change plays out with tourney types but I for one welcome it.

So the store I bought the game from is telling me that that the Dampierre DLC was only for the standard edition, and not for the CE. Oh fuck you guys -____-

Possibly. But keep in mind, it now catches all strikes heights and is guaranteed 60-90 damage if the opponent doesn't have the meter to reGI.
You bought it from best buy? My regular had a code in the case. That would be really stupid if the CE didn't get it.

Nah, different country. The main videogame retailer here in Mexico was also offering the DLC. Dunno if the few Best Buys there are here even offered it tbh.

I've seen so many people complaining on various sites about the fact this game has toned down the sexuality seen in the previous entries. All it reminded me of was South Park, where they had to bribe the 6th graders with a picture of Stan's mom's "hot tits." It's just such a juvenile thing to be so hung up on that it made me think these are the same guys who would take "the bewbs into the bushes."
I don't think the sexuality has been toned down.
Z.W.E.I. is oozing sex appeal.
Maxim still has a delicious open shirt.
Kilik has a way sexier outfit.
On the female side:
Ivy is still Ivy.
Natsu's suit is too tight.
Leixia's shorts are too short (and see through!).
Pyrrha's likes to do high kicks in a skirt.
Viola and Tira are in ridiculously slutty-Halloween-esque costumes.
Z.W.E.I. is oozing sex appeal.

Did you see Ivy, Sophitia, and Seong Mina in SCIV? Or Taki? Ivy wore a string. Sophitia had a gown that was quite see through. Seong Mina got all that cleavage and legs showing. And Taki had nipples sticking out hard like shes been hanging out in a freezer.

Yes. I did. I played a ton of SC4 and loved it even if other SC fans didn't.
Besides Sophitia's silly see-through robe thing, I don't feel SC5 characters are being out-classed in the sexuality department.
I do. But I still like the new characters though, particularly Pyrrha and Natsu. They do their predecessors proud gameplay wise and they have their own appeal.
Zwei is not "oozing sex appeal." Some of the male characters have open shirts but that's nothing compared to the female characters in IV. They'd basically have to be in speedos to be on the same level.
Ivy's still Ivy but she's wearing more clothes in V, Natsu's suit is tight but compare her to Taki. She had watermelons with nipples. Leixia's clothes aren't that skimpy. They're a little short, but they're not tight. Pyrrha's skirt is over tights. Compare her to her mother, who was keeping her shirt on with two-sided nipple tape. Tira shows her midriff. That's not particularly slutty. And Viola's showing her... upper thighs, I guess?
Compare basically any of the female characters in this (except maybe Ivy) to just about any of the female characters in IV and it's pretty damn clear they're less sexualized.
In a twist of irony, I could either trade 5 games and pay $30 at Best Buy to get the standard version with Dampierre, or trade in 3 games and pay $20 to get the Limited Edition from EB Games... I went the latter route, but it's KILLING me not having Dampierre. My game just feels incomplete.

The female characters in this game are as sexual to me as the ones in 4.
I suppose the cast is generally younger. So if sexual just means large breasts to you, then I can see that side of the argument.
You should take another look at Tira and Viola though.
And you be quiet about Z.W.E.I. He's as sexy as they come. You jerk.
EDIT: Oh who am I kidding. 90% of sexuality to guys is just breast size. I concede.

In regards to Ivy and Sophitia, they showed a lot of skin on top of having huge breasts. Ivy literally only had like some leather tape like stuff wrapped around her in IV. Taki had a camel toe and nipples poking through her skin tight suit. Seong Mina show all them legs and breasts.

And no, Cho Aniki is not the answer. Someone else on these forums told me Cho Aniki is what sexualizing a man is supposed to be. I'm pretty sure sexualization is meant to be appealing to the opposite sex (or same sex in same cases I guess).
Much more skin than that, low cut pants, more bulging. There aren't many hypersexualized male characters to use as an example. Most comics and games are made for men. The big rippling muscle men like Marcus Phoenix or Kratos aren't designed to be sexy, they're designed to play into the male power fantasy. Ivy is designed for straight men. Zwei is, too.

That's about as much skin as you can get without being in shorts. You don't have to be in shorts to be sexualized.
Yeah Marcus and Kratos aren't meant to be sexy. But Z.W.E.I. isn't like them. The only thing similar between those characters are... um... muscles?

Go look at the characters in any otome game. He fits perfectly into one of the otome roles. Speaking of which, so does Patroklos. I bet you'd totally find a ton of yaoi if this game is popular enough.

But Z.W.E.I. is designed to be more than just an avatar to fulfill some teen boys' power fantasies if you ask me.

I'm going for Hilde and Zwei at the top later on. Even with larger rings, her playstyle did a lot of guard damage and there really isn't a way to replenish large chunks of guard meter. Zwei (and possibly Viola) will eventually have some crazy lockdown/unblockable setups.
