Very, very similar to my own experiences. I, too, went into online for the first time this evening, went ten-for-zero in the first lobby, eight-for-zero in another lobby. Kinda disheartening. I just don't have any muscle memory for my buttons yet though. Whilst I'm not mashing randomly, I'm rarely pressing anything with an idea in mind either; my inputs are purposeless by and large, just hoping to catch a counter hit or lucky launcher. When I
do press a button with a purpose, reacting to something that's happening or that I expect to happen, it's a miracle if I do it fast enough.
I'm still really unfamiliar with the character (and the game (and the 3D-fighting game genre)), so I guess I absolutely must expect some saddlesores.
I mentioned earlier that I needed tio find some good buttons for ZWEI. Mr Nguyen must've heard my mutterous grumblings and posted
this up on the EternalRival site -- a handy little guide to ZWEI's good buttons! I'm gonna spend some time with that info for sure.
Right now all I wanna do is get kinda okay-ish. Not godlike, far from it, just accomplished enough with at least one character (or simply in SCV fundamentals) so that, in the public lobbies, which seem genuinely nice and friendly places to spend an afternoon playing online fighting games, I can at least put up a fight. Today I felt like the people I was in lobbies with must have been groaning every time my turn rolled around, so dire were my performances. And that's a sucky feeling. I want to bring them the fun times.
