SOULS series - Best to worst?

How do you rank the games in the Souls series?

For me it's;

Bloodborne > Demons = Dark > Dark 2

My logic basically broke down into this. I love the atmosphere of Demons Souls, but I thought Dark Souls had a better constructed world than Demons. Bloodborne had amazing atmosphere that reminded me of Demons Souls, plus the great constructed world of Dark Souls. The added bonus for Bloodborne was that every weapon was viable in the game. So, while I fucking love Demons and Dark, logically I find Bloodborne the best game.

Dark Souls 2 is a fine game, but it just doesn't compare to the other 3.

Haven't played 3 yet but from what I've watched of it it looks like it will top the list when I do.

For now:

- DS2
- DS1
- Bloodborne
- Demon's

They're all great games though, I don't rate one as hugely better than the others.

Demons> Dark>Dark 2.

Was a tough choice. Imo Dark 1 and DS are pretty equal for me. But im giving it to demon because its the gsme that hook me up to the series, and Dark 2 is the one that nearly made me stop beleiving in it. Thanks to Bloodborne, the genre is not dead and i have high hope for Dark zsouls 3 now.

going to play DkS2 rather soon, I played 2 times DkS1 and about 3 or 4 times BB, for me right now:

Bloodborne > Dark Souls 1

I not very convinced that Dark Souls 2 could be better than those, but I'll be pleasantly surprised if it ends up better than those for me

Bloodborne >>>>>> dark souls 2 (pre scholar of the first sin).

To be fair those are the only 2 game i either got end game at. I might have to try Dark Souls again.

I adore Bloodborne, but I think its design philosophy is different enough for it to be considered its own series.

It's a game that forces you to be offensive, agressive even, fitting its own unique world and lore.

Seems like a lot of people think differently. I know I do. I've always played souls games as aggressive as possible. To me Bloodborne didn't feel all that different. Combat is way too similar for that.

Due to the stupid enemy tracking, high poise enemies and low iframes at the start I actually had to change my play style more for DS2 than for BB.

Demon's souls also had its own unique world and lore and we still consider it part of the Souls series.

In the end it's semantics anyway.

Having not played DS3 yet I'd go with

Demon's Souls > Bloodborne > DS1 > DS2

Demon's Souls is still one of the craziest and unique games that just came out of nowhere for me and I love everything about it, I dunno which game has the best atmosphere, DeS or BB but it's very close and Latria might just tip the scale.

It's still and always will be Demon's >, it's the "innovator" in the series.

Right now I'd say it's Demon's > Bloodborne = Dark > Dark 2, although I have a feeling it will be Demon's > Dark 3 > BB=DS > Dark 2.

I've been on a semi-blackout for DS3 since the network test, but the test was enough to convince that's how it'll go.

I think my rankings would be:

Demons
Bloodborne
Dark Souls 2
Dark Souls

Haven't played 3 yet. Also, I haven't play Demons in forever, but I remember being captivated by it. They really need to remaster the damn game. Also, even though Dark Souls is at the bottom it's just splitting hairs. I love every game, my favorite series of all time.

For me DeS and DS are about on par with each other. I played DeS first but Dark Souls really drew me in like no other game really had. I really liked the large interconnected world in Dark Souls, especially since everything fit together and seemed to make sense. It also has an atmosphere about it that is unlike anything else.

It's also these reasons that make me feel like DS2 is way lower on the totem pole than DeS and DS. It fails in world building and atmosphere to my mind. The areas feel mostly uninspired, they aren't knit together as coherently and the things in those areas suffer the same kinds of issues. Ultimately DS2 may have mechanical improvements, but I just don't care/am indifferent about nearly everything in it.

For me it's:

Demon's
Dark Souls I
Bloodborne

I have not played DSII, and to be honest although I'm putting Bloodborne in third I've probably only played about 8 hours of it.

Also, if we can include games heavily inspired by Souls, I'm currently playing Salt and Sanctuary, and I would probably rank it above Dark Souls. It's basically trying to be a 2D Souls, so I don't think that's cheating too much.

Motherfucking digital movement on the left stick. An opening that thrusts down your throat how many times you're going to die. "PREPARE TO DIE EPIC MEME LOL"

So many little instances like this really gave me a bad vibe of it being made by people who didn't really quite get what made the Souls series what they are.

I know people like to scream bloody murder whenever that conversation comes up, but it's been all but proven at this point, with some of the dev staff talking about trying to emulate the design philosophy of the series. It's a fine game and still a cut above what the industry typically puts out, but it fell far short of the Souls series (and it didn't help I played Bloodborne first).

I haven't played Demon's, and I'm not going to unless they release it on PC. I have a PS3, but I just can't go back to playing it.

What a weird thing to say with an avatar of a game that is literally unplayable.

You're missing out on a top 3 game of last gen, but suit yourself =D

Also, very fucking nice to see people who didn't like DS2 are loving DS3. DS2 was a mistaaaaaaaaaaaaake.

1. Demon's

Started it all and never played anything like it.

2. Dark

Amazing interconnected world. Felt like a fuller game than Demon's.

3. Dark Souls 3

Feels like a mashup of Demon's and Bloodborne.

Bag of shit:

Dark Souls 2

Motherfucking digital movement on the left stick. An opening that thrusts down your throat how many times you're going to die. "PREPARE TO DIE EPIC MEME LOL"

That part with the old ladies explicitly telling you that you will die over and over again and laughing was so fucking bad. Like was it really necessary to basically tell the player "we made the game hard, you like that right? haha ;)))" in such blatant and cringey manner?

And in the end, the game was mostly difficult in badly designed and unfair ways.

I'm going to be really crazy here and go Dark 2 > Dark > Demon's.

I really love the world and structure of Dark Souls the most, it has a stronger elegance in its design than the other two entries.

The reason Dark 2 is my fav? The Soul Vessel, it gave the game way more replay value when i'm able to change my builds to tackle new situations or difficulties. I spent a lot more time in its world because of this. Also the three varied DLC chapters were really superb.
