whole ep was basically a dig at literary analysis and sarah jessica parker :lol

Eh, that episode was alright. Nothing really spectacular, and it was completely predictable.

Definitely enjoyable and I got quite a few laughs out of it, though.

Holy Jesus that was an awful episode. The lone laugh was Morgan Freeman. Literally, I laughed once.

edit: I understand the dig at deconstruction (I had to do a couple Edith Wharton books in school) of books/films/TV shows etc, but if they were making fun of TheCatcher in the Rye, then fuck them. That book is great.

I seriously doubt there are many people complaining about new South Park episodes who weren't once SP fans and continue to watch the show hoping it's one of the season's gems. This isn't a South Park Appreciation thread. It's a South Park thread. And "that was shit" is as valid a post as "I LOLed".
4 years of "worst episode ever" gets kinda redundant.

It was about average, I thought. And I got a really strong Family Guy vibe. Not a compliment for... obvious reasons.

I'd say Holy Fucking Shit, but then someone would go and murder someone. So I'll say it was pretty damn sweet. The South Park I know and love, where kids are being kids, adults are being fucking insane and where you can watch an half-hour of poop and vomit jokes with the occasional random celebrity cameo and get some satisfaction out of it.

Was this just a random episode or was there actually a book that Americans were freaking out about like that Oprah episode they did a while ago?

There were shades of manatee-style story structure. More than I usually remember seeing in SP eps.
What was so random about it? The jokes generally kept in line with the theme of the episode and were relevant to the plot.

I love when people try to break down and over-analyse a South Park episode.

"Oh my, I thought the acting and the overall flow of the third scene didn't coincide with
story and the overall theme of the ..." Shut the fuck up, chill out, watch it, enjoy.

They weren't making fun of Catcher In The Rye unless you count calling it not mature or controversial. They were making fun of the people who look into it like everything is a metaphor for something.
