Spectre Divide - Mountaintop Studios 3 v 3 tactical shooter...

Looks interesting enough to give a spin. The social tournament feature is a welcome addition. More games need to do that.

Legitimately cool gimmick in a tactical shooter, but those character designs are... sweet, baby.

I'm assuming the sound design will get a major boost somewhere down the line, or is that just a distraction in a pro/tactical focused game?

I'm bumping this to say - I'm someone who has played pretty much every comp shooter on the market for a long time with 1000s of hours on CS in particular and play to a high level. This game genuinely seems legit. I played the 8 hour test on Saturday night and I was seriously impressed.

The shooting mechanics are much easier than your CS/Apex level of game, but not as easy as call of duty etc.

But the gimmick of controlling two players is seriously the best and most innovative mechanic I have seen in a multiplayer shooter in...well a very long time. After just a few hours it was making sense and I was doing some really cool plays baiting with one character and swapping to another. This game has HUGE potential. I'm really shocked to only see 4 posts about the game.

Also artstyle - I FUCKING HATE the artstyle of most modern games, valorant, overwatch, fortnite, all the other slop. There is something clean and unique about this game and how it looks. Especially in motion/when controlling yourself. I really like it. The whole game has done something for me that pretty much nothing else has in the multiplayer market for a loooong time. I think the last time I got this excited and into an MP game like this was Tarkov like 5 years ago and the DayZ alpha on arma 2 before that.

The abilities seem okay - I didn't see anything that seemed busted...I mean if you've seen valorant that game is quite literally a joke now. I will say I only had a few hours, some stuff will likely end up being abused and need balancing but I didnt see anything that set my alarm bells off.

The added personal bonus for me? I love counterstrike but playing with randoms is a gamble and usually cancerous, with my aging online friend group we really struggle to get 5 people on at once to commit for long matches. This game is 3v3, so much more manageable to get people on. It's 3v3 but doesn't FEEL like 3v3 which is what's so cool about it. I still had some rounds where I got a nice 5k for example or clutched a 1v3.

My final thoughts - do not write this game off as another generic "woke" shooter like concord and the other slop coming out right now. This game is really smart, innovative and I think could really take off. Who knows it may get boring quick or be too complicated for lots of people to get into it - but it felt pretty organic learning it to me and I just desperately want to play more. I think there is a closed beta coming out in the middle of August.
