Whew, somehow got in and purchased.
Fair warning, made it to card entry. Entered. "Add funds and purchase now" clicked.
Error.
Purchase shows on my bank statement, not on my Switch. Don't have a lot of faith I'll be resolving this one easily.
happened to me and when it booted me to home there was the game downloading

Buy the digital version on Amazon.com, on the next page after checkout is a button that says Redeem from Nintendo.com. Click it, and then press the red Redeem button on Nintendo.com and the game will download on your Switch.

Hooray! I was able to enter the eShop and redeem the Amazon code from there. Then a connection error happened before it showed the OK message, but the game appeared on the home screen and is being downloaded right now. I'm totally playing Splatoon 2 tomorrow night after work!

edited cuz I feel like a dummy for getting pissed at downloading a game lol when lots of other people want it too

I had this problem when purchasing disagaea. Eshop didn't crash, but I think i hit home or got sidetracked with something, and it I didn't finalize the purchase completely. The charge appeared on my 'pending operations' section on the credit card. I proceeded to 'buy it again', but this time i did finalize the purchase. and it also went to pending operations. I didn't do anything and in the end it just charged me once, so i wouldn't worry about it too much.

Finally went through although now I have a ton of holds on my account due to entering my card information so many times and getting errors...
As a follow up to my post above, regarding the error after card entry and charging me but not downloading/showing in account....
After 15-20 more attempts to get back in to the eShop, I was finally able to. Selected "Proceed to Purchase" and this time it finalized it apparently. Said "Thank you for your purchase!" and is now downloading.
No double charge or anything.

That just means you have the credits on your eShop account. That happened to me, I just had to get back on the eShop and confirm purchase of Splatoon 2. it showed 59.99 on my balance.

I think I'm just going to wait for server load to go down. I've noticed before that when buying stuff on nintendo.com's new shop layout it charges you when viewing the order details but before hitting confirm, which means if it fails when you hit the final submit button, there's a good chance there's already a hold on the funds for your card and it might be there for the weekend before the errant charge gets released.

Website worked for me too, but Switch eshop is bugged still as well. I recommend doing it through the web...45 minutes to go

I have like 4 or 5 so I wouldn't... I believe it authorized a hold when going to purchase and then didn't pull the funds when the error occurred. Should be back in your account soon.

Just got home from work and bought it through the eShop, was assuming the worst based on the number of complaints I saw.

Start with the campaign. It will help you practice all the skills you will need for multiplayer.
As for the motion controls "clicking". Maybe just turn them off.
Other then that, in turf war always try and be moving towards empty/uncontested space that has been painted with the other team's ink (and don't play Charger)

Tells me no further action required. I check my order status, it says "payment revision needed". There's no way the card I used actually got declined, so what's going on? Is this happening because of something on Nintendo's end?

Yep, I took about 30 minutes of a break from trying. It operated just fine with my password/card info, then crashed -_-
