Oh man, I need those joycons.

How long you in Tokyo?
In Tokyo for a while.

Are those green and pink toppers the fancy charging ones or the regular ones? And how much did those cost?

(Also saw the Wet Floor CD, it's fantastic!)
They're just the regular 500 yen straps.

The joycons look amazing, but the pink strap doesn't quite match in colour due to being a different plastic. Green matches though. Oh well I'll stick with the black ones I think.

Ok now I'm just getting mad.

I downloaded 99% of it and got this message

Unable to communicate with the server

Could not perform DNS name resolution

Please try again later

My Internet is working fine.

This sounds WAY better.

Thanks, Tingly! :)
So uh just a heads up to correct something I said earlier: Gear abilities which are specific to a part of the body are not supposed to be available on gear from other parts of the body. So the Stealth Jump example I gave earlier is incorrect; Stealth Jump can show up on footwear, but it's not supposed to show up on hats or shirts ever.

Finally got it. Messing around in single player right now. The motion controls are REALLY weird to me but I'll take vets advice that they're better in the long run.

My Internet literally just died. This never happens to me. It downloaded to 99% and stopped. I was confused at first because everything else worked fine.

I'm so fucking mad and somewhat shocked. My internet shitted on me.

Guess I was lucky. Opened the eShop at midnight, bought the game, downloaded in about 15 minutes, and played a few matches online. Had to turn it off to sleep since I have work tomorrow but loving it so far. The game looks great too!

This was my experience as well. Got kicked from the store, but the download went fine.

General consensus, Is this worth getting for someone with no intention of touching multiplayer? I can deal with a 8-10 hour (is it?) campaign for the price.

Probably not. The Campaigns good and is strong all around but it's not worth $60 without Salmon Run (which is a good horde mode it seems) or the competitive multiplayer.

I haven't seen any mention of split screen multiplayer either locally, like in the first game, or online. I assume no online split screen since they want to keep that 60 fps but was hoping for at least local split screen mode.

This is kinda off topic but is anyone else going to pick up the final smash amiibo with splatoon 2? I don't see them staying in stock for long.

If you can deal with a 5-8 hour campaign and see what all the fuss is about, then I say go for it. But I can't imagine why you wouldn't touch the multiplayer. Without voice chat, you can just imagine your playing against really good AI.

I will pass then. Thanks!

Do look into it sometime in the future though. It's still a good campaign and the multiplayer community of Splatoon is probably one of the more pleasurable ones I've taken part in, it's quite easy to avoid toxicity. It's worth some of your time if only to experience a bit of the culture that the game goes to great lengths to create.

For a while, leaving a battle just to go into another one took about 10 seconds for me. I feel like I've been getting matchups faster compared to Splatoon 1.

I still miss the minigames though.

Well Splat Gaf, I stood up for no reason. With my internet dead I can't download the last 1% needed to play the game.

I will see you all in game in the morning.
Unless my internet comes back on then I'll see you fuckers in the Splat fields.

Worldwide release, servers got slammed

We've been fighting with it the past hour.

Either buy digitally from Amazon and redeem on Nintendo.com, or buy direct from Nintendo.com.

It's down. Buy the game on Nintendo's website with your Nintendo Account logged in: http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/splatoon-2-switch

Or purchase a Download code from Amazon and redeem it on their browser page: https://eshop.nintendo.net/redeem#/

Thanks guys!

Thanks for the advice, I might check it out. I'll just leave the chat off if I do decide to try out the multiplayer at all. I'm generally not competitive and I don't need some little asswipe reminding me of it. The things I'm hearing about the single player is pulling me in and I didn't play the first one.

Seeing the post here makes me seriously consider buying it digitally. Having it constantly available on the go is important....

I rarely play my Mario Kart and ARMS because i am too lazy to switch the cart (despite liking the games), and instead mostly play those digital games installed (Cave Story, Shovel Knights etc...)

...but I also want physical goods...

This game looks GREAT. Loving the speckled effect on the ink, the marks in the ink when you jump on it, the satisfying "Spaloonk" sound when diving into ink from high up... everything looks awesome and is gorgeous on the handheld screen.

Also there is now so much to do in Singleplayer. Will get plenty of mileage out of it.
Glad they've changed things with all the weapons because the Amiibo challenges were my favourite thing in the first one and now there's technically even more.

Hopefully the other types of challenges turn up too! (limited ink, time limit, etc)

Waiting on my physical copy. Can someone check if they fixed motion controls in handheld mode while laying down??

What was wrong with them?

If you're buying it for singleplayer predominantly then get the physical version. If you're getting it for multiplayer predominantly then get it digital.

Down the road the cart will only really be useful for singleplayer and local play with only the base 8 maps on the cart.

Again, don't forget you can order gear through the App. That way you get access to 3 star gear way before you get them in-game.

Played 3 matches so far and all of them lost connection in the last 15 seconds. I don't know if it's a console WiFi issue (AGAIN) or a ragequitter issue but there's something very wrong here.

I've never played Splatoon before but did like the look of the game when I saw a bunch of Youtubers I like play it. Just bought it and waiting for it to download. Pumped.

Snuck four games in before bed, tried setting up voice chat, wound up like this.

Can't wait to never touch the app again and hop back in tomorrow night. Splatoon is still the king of TPS MP this generation.

Got 3 rounds in but have to head to bed. First impression is I can't use motion controls in handheld mode, however the non-motion controls are totally serviceable/fun, not sure what the complaints were about.

I'm bringing my switch to work for the first time to play during my lunch break/show it off to coworkers.

Then back home for a night of splatoon and not much else. \o/

Looking forward to trying it on the pro controller, but I really do love the switch as a handheld.

I just looked at my Amazon order and it's still slated to arrive on Friday the 21st (which is today) but the last update was on the 20th at 4:24 AM. It departed the Amazon facility. Confused I decided to input the tracking number on USPS's website.

They said it still hasn't been received by USPS themselves yet.

This is supposed to arrive today? I really hate USPS. They always do this kind of stuff.
