Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

That looks great. :D Too bad there is no short hair in Splatoon, as I am short haircuts appreciator.

The artstyle kinda limits that since the hair are their tentacles, so they can't just chop it off unless it gets tied like the boy squids. That doesn't mean there can't be variety though. I want some Princess Leia rolled up tentacle hair.

That is true, but with a little creativity they can make extra hairstyles or they could at least make Callie and Marie's hairstyles available for the regular Inklings.

Oh true, they have really cute hair. I guess then they just want to create an iconic look for squidgirl/boy. Hopefully Spla2n will introduce more customization with hair options.

what a joke, so people with amigos get a easy ride now.
i thought they just unlocked extras...

They get the amiibo stuff, true, but in order to play the amiibo Missions, they need to complete the single player campaign first. The amiibo Missions are just single player missions with a different ruleset, so they're tied to each other.

A small detail I kind of like about the game; the Wii U splash screen when starting the game showing that bedroom with a laptop, bookshelves, general stuff lying around and some ink splatters.

I don't think that shows up anywhere else in the game but I get the sense that it's supposed to be an Inkling's "bedroom". I kind of like those small hints at lore and world building.

But is it the same bedroom from Code Name S.T.E.A.M.?

So let me tell you what I'm most looking forward to and also what I hope is done in August.

I think the movement and skirmishes are the thing I most looking forward to, not the fact that I'm coloring the terrain.
But in order to move across the terrain you need the ink it.

So whether you're in Splat Zones or the Ranked Mode you need to control of the territory with your own ink to make it easier for your team mates to also utilize the full map for movement.

The less of the map you have inked the less control you have and the more difficult it would be to make a comeback. Because if the other team controls vital choke point while one person paints the rest of the map or splatzones they automatically will win every battle.

I think that if there is a reason why you cannot play with your friends in a team from the start of the game. It's probably to make the experience easy for new players - while offering something even more intense down the line. Playing against a team will be whole different ball game especially if Nintendo patches team voice chat. That's one of the things I will petition for.

Also this is hilarious:

Amazon.fr didn't dispatch it yet, no day -1 for me, so inkly of people already playing it.
I wanna be a squid, now <:=
Oh well, the good news is that I'll get every Amiibos, at least.

Amazon is completely heartless with this stuff. It's crazy. Especially when the package sometimes only arrives a day after release because they can't be bothered to send it out two days early.

Sorry if it has already been answered, but are the arcade minigames exclusive to the amiibos, or are the figures only a shortcut to unlock them quicker? The arcade games look super-fun, but not $40 fun...

If you're talking about the squid jump mini game, it's not locked behind amiibo.

How does buying Amiibos work? Can I just walk into Walmart on the 29th and buy 1 or do I need to preorder or something?

You could try but most of the time, Amiibos aren't on the shelves.

Except really common ones like Peach and Mario.

Not sure how to gauge how fast the Splatoon ones will go but it could be iffy.

How could they nail a new competitive multiplayer concept on the first go?
I've been playing non-stop tonight and the online is flawless, almost no waiting time, no lag, perfect collision. And all the weapon sets are balanced. It doesn't need a patch for gameplay balance. Incredible.

yeah, what the hell

anyone care to elaborate on this? i assume similarly strong costumes will be unlockable in-game for amiibo abstainers?

Spyke can buff the equipment ability slots if you pay him Super Sea Snails, so in-game it's still possible to buy yourself better equipment slots if there's a piece of clothing you really like in spite of it's star count. The star count only determines how much it has available by default and how many slots it will have if you just keep using it.

If you don't have Super Sea Snails you can still pay him to use one of his own Snails but they cost a lot of money.

Ok, that's fine then. Thanks, NL.

I'm talking about the 3 other games. From what I understand, they are locked behind amiibos, but I keep hoping for an alternative way to unlock them... The amiibos look good, but I simply can't afford to pay $100+ to get the "complete" game...

If there is someone wearing the special gear in your hub would you be able to special order it?

I'm fairly sure you won't be able to special order the Amiibo gear. I don't know how it works for the ability slots. Someone else will have to chime in on that, I assume you'd have to unlock them over again but I might be wrong on that.

EDIT: Watching the Direct it seems like you explicitly order the exact kind of gear with the abilities it has, hence why it's "Special Ordered" rather than just straight up bought from the store.

The guy in the game store asked me if I wanted the LE instead of the regular version since he still had one left.

I'll admit it was hard to say 'no' but I'll have to stay strong.

The single player in this game is better than I thought, normally I get bored of shooting game campaigns but I feel compelled to complete this one. It reminds me of Mario. The background story in the scrolls is pretty interesting too.

Good to hear

The Amiibos are already so expensive as it is... 16 dollars CAD plus 5 bucks shipping plus tax... Was hoping I could just walk in and buy one in the store, oh well.

Does anyone know whether you can have Spyke order amiibo equipment? Seems like you shouldn't, but then again the amiibos unlock a lot more than just those sets and you'd have to do it one at a time so... It's worth asking, I think.

Been waiting fifteen minutes in this lobby now and it's only up to six people. Weird that you can't quit out.

Edit: Two people managed to leave so back to four. Gah!
