Was doing great in ranked today. Up to C+. Using the splattershot pro and positioning yourself smartly (don't rush) is a good strategy.

If not for work I'd play this 24/7 right now. The addiction is real.

It shoots in straight line. So naturally it's best in capturing square shaped areas or just wherever you have plenty of surface going straight forward.¨

That said my primary game plan when playing a Charger is just getting kills and letting my teammates handle the inking.
I still haven't met too many ( if any) people who play the Charger the way I do. Everyone just wants to roost somewhere. =/ Then again, this method isn't great at kills. It gets me up close and in the fray, which is something Chargers can have a tough time dealing with.
That's frightening... =/

I just unlocked the Kelp Splatterscope at level 17.

Exactly the same weapon loadout as the Kelp Charger (my favourite weapon) but with a a scope for better aiming?

good lord.

I just noticed how useful the Y button is for turning around.
But it's very badly placed, the right analog button and Y should be swapped. Analog = camera, buttons = attacks.

got a communication error, Doc, joining back in

I just had an enemy roller pop out of a pool of my team's ink color right in front of me. The lag is real

yeah it's really really bad, it'll be so much better when we'll be able to play with/against people of our friendlist.

I'm not a fan of the splat zone mode. Not with these maps anyway. Salt spray rig is just terrible, the ones with two capture zones are better but I'd love to see some bigger maps with 3 zones to capture so people are a little more spread out.

Turf war is so much more fun, looking forward to that one going into ranked mode, because I CBA ranked right now with splat zones.

3 zones is too much imo. I have too many games in the skatepark going to timeout.

Has Nintendo said anything about Turf War being added to Ranked Battles? Because that would be awesome.

oh man, I absolutely love the saltspray splatzone. so fucking crazy. the way it backs up to the high ground and the front of the zone is in front of the barriers a little bit. so many strategies to employ.

Has anyone ever thought that the Ranked battles might cycle between Splat Zones, Tower Control, and Rainmaker? That means we can't play whatever mode we want until August.

I don't think they did, but after the August update when the player base is a more decent size we should motion through Miiverse or something so all modes are available in both Ranked and Regular.

That's what changed some Mario Kart stuff, no?

It had Port Mackerel mentioned from the start, in the "Coming Soon!" chapter. No update yet of the eGuide.
Alright, thanks.
Thanks, but I prefer the overhead view of the map.

I don't recall anything changing in Mario Kart 8 due to Miiverse.

Splat Zones would be infinitely better if it had either one moving zone or all maps had multiple zones. The way it works now with one central zone in most cases is just not fun IMO.

Having a zone that moves after a certain count would be cool. It'd work a bit like KOTH does in other games and a more closely related example would be KOTH in Metroid Prime Hunters. After you scored x points in a hill it'd move to somewhere else on the map.

Yeah looking at the lobby menu and it looks like game modes rotate just like maps currently do. Not the biggest fan of that as I'd prefer each mode have an unranked and ranked version, but it's better than it being stuck on splatzone forever.

Coulda sworn there was a big movement to add an on-screen mini-map and to switch the options after a race around which happened later. Minor stuff, but shows that they pay attention.

It's possible they found out about that through some other way though.

holy fuck, good kraken rollers are infuriating in ranked. Every time I'd close in on this fucking roller he'd gain JUST enough meter to turn into a squid before I zapped him and then go ballistic on my sorry ass

stuck in C+ hell playing B-, I want my C- matches back. Damn you matchmaking!

Its definitely too chaotic with one zone. Urchin Underpass is just a mess with people everywhere, grenades, ink strikes, rollers. Unless your team is dominating and has control of the map you're just running into the zone to die among the chaos.

Although salt spray rig seems to be better since there's a huge choke point. Harder for people to just run into the zone.

there's got to be a voice command to hang back, lemmings just charging forward constantly in splat zone. I can see it cos of recon but my teammates don't know there's four goddamn trained killers just waiting for them! They don't know our best option is to charge as a group!

My hatred for the Dynamo Roller grows ever stronger. Too strong up close, too strong at range. pretty much impossible to sneak up on, can dodge charger shots by jumping constantly.

Hate it.

Rank battles are a different beast indeed! Manage to win two, but lost every other (so only got 20 points right now). All ideas and strategies I learn are mostly useless :P Is still a fun, chaotic and tense mode!

I just wish they add in the update a mode to cancel connecting after 10 or so seconds of waiting. We were all stuck waiting for one player and the time down clock keep resetting to 200 after reach 180. Had to turn of the system after about 2 minutes of waiting.

Just started playing, really enjoying it. However, having some connection problems right now, and it is absolutely horrible to watch my first ever big multiplyer waste away as I drop game after game. Really not cool.

How do you all like splat zones in Port Mackerel?

From the one match I played this morning it was interesting. Because the zones were so separated it was mostly about keeping the one on your side while making moves for the other one.

Essentially there was usually two people on our zone while one person was successful staying alive around the other. I would usually join them on that zone, first going through where our splat zone was and covering ground.

It reminded me of control points in other shooters were two had to stay on the zone to defend it while others attacked the other zone.

You check the bar at the top of the screen and your map before you rush into the middle:

- Do you have time left on the timer to wait? If not, blindly rush in in a desperate attempt to capture the zone.
- Do you have more players alive than the other team? Get to the middle ASAP
- Does the other team have have more players alive and seem to be controlling the middle? Wait for your team to respawn, paint turf to try to build your special meter in the meantime, or hide in the ink waiting for the right moment.
- Do they have the middle locked down? Try to flank them and use a special.

Regional matchmaking would prevent me from playing with gaf, most likely... since I am in SA. But yeah, double splatts are getting on my nerves, but these only happen against Japanese players.
