Like the final download, once you pre-load the game? I'd imagine super small, like 20 MB or something. I'm just guessing however, so I can't confirm.

Only reason I'm worried about going digital with Nintendo games is losing my purchases in case my Wii U corrupts. I somehow don't trust them to let me redownload my games.
However, Splatoon is the kind of game that would be so nice to have installed on your system for impromptu multiplayer sessions.

Man I wish this had came out in Tuesday instead of Friday. I have a wedding to go to tomorrow evening, but can hopefully get an hour or two in between work and that. Have a concert Saturday evening and chores etc to get done before then.

Actually kind of cool to see Nintendo respect the local time. I just kind of assumed the game would be unlocking 1AM local time.

I didn't like the Splattershot Jr. on the Testfires but I've been enjoying and going like 10-1 quite often with it this evening. The chargeshot that charges quicker but doesn't go as far is fun as well.

You know what I don't get? Why don't they just try to implement 3DS connectivity like in Smash? That way you have gyro controls and a secondary touch screen for the map and teammates.

Does the 3DS have a pole-gyro? Or just a movement gyro?
I'm pretty sure that in NoA you're good to go, you would just have to call their customer service with some info about your console and wait a day or two
for other regions I've heard wildly conflicting reports so I feel it's best to assume the worst so you don't get screwed

No, this is true for any and all regions. Everything you buy on the eShop is recorded in your NNID's purchase history. Like with every other account system out there. The only hoop you have to jump through is if you console breaks or you for whatever reason cannot perform the official system transfer procedure, you have to call customer service so they unlock the NNID from the old system which then lets you log into it on a new system.
The exact same is true for Europe.
So my copy turned up a day early and popped it on when I got in from work. It's now 5 hours later and I've neglected to have anything to eat. What an awesome game and the netcode is surprisingly robust since I've been mainly seeing a lot of Japanese names in games considering my awful UK internet connection I've had no latency issues at all.
