Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

I honestly don't feel like I've noticed anything in random turfwars that makes me think I'm getting paired with painters or splatters in higher doses. There are days where I see room after room of heavy paint-cover weapons (Aerosprays, Splash-O-Matics, Jrs, etc) but it's hard to tell if that's just because they're really common weapons. There are times I notice seeing more splatters (like Gals, Dynamos, Chargers) but it seems kind of random.

I have had random GAF people show up in random games (SM239 showed up randomly last week to kick me around), so don't know what that means either. I know I've definitely seen other random people's names repeatedly before that aren't on my friendlist.

Maybe when he says by "pairing" people, he's talking about who ends up on your team versus the other? I've noticed weird instances in GAF games or with randoms where I end up with the same teammate 10+ times in a row. Do we just play the same or do we play completely different and they're balancing?

It only mentions turf wars directly, but I think I was right about my earlier assessment. If you have terrific K/D in your rise up the ranks, your future high-rank opponents are going to be just as tough and aggressive. If you're coasting by with mediocre results, spend more time paiting the zone with few kills, or even stinking up your team but still winning and gaining rank, the people around you when you reach A will be "average" too. If you keep winning, the game will feed you into the lion's den of the real A/A+ players.

Someone tell me this makes sense because it has been my experience rising up to A, staying there no problem, but then inexplicably dropping a few times now.
This doesn't really make sense.

It just puts you in rooms based on your rank and tries to match you up with similarly ranked players. Sometimes there aren't enough open lobbies with similarly ranked players so they just put you in with lower ranked players.

It isn't referring to how it pairs up teams because team shuffle is a thing to have teams change around regardless of levels and whatnot.

However, there seems to be a bug where it may not change teams at all. I think it happens when there is a DC or something.

Do we know the team shuffle feature is completely random, though? They could be putting something in there to try to pre-balance the teams (although, if so, it fails miserably regularly at it). Maybe I just subconsciously look for patterns but it doesn't feel completely random sometimes. Could just be a placebo.

I dunno if that's what it means but I've noticed it too. Sometimes people in rooms just never go on my team, and it's usually the person who gives me the hardest time and I want on my team the most.

Is that why the game always seems to stick my team with the one random low level player? Does it think I'm good enough to carry them? Please don't think that game, I'm not

That carbon roller is right where I wanted the weapon to be. I could never get over how little coverage the brush has, and the regular roller was always a little too slow. Still OHKO with the slap splat. Plus I like being able to toss out the subweapon freely. The only downside is that Zooka, but I can deal with it.

Zooka a downside? What world is this.

Same. I have matches where I do good and make shots that require me to move my reticle from one end of the map to close to the other end and still hit my mark without having to take a second to aim, but I've been going on a 1:1 KDR or even 0/X on occasion recently. It's almost frustrating. Chargers are one the hardest classes to play consistently well. It's also been the source of my salt recently. =/

indeed, a charger with no kills is just sad. I'm missing so many easy shots right now, just terrible

btw, who of you is noite?

Well you're kind of contradicting yourself. Are you actually getting good stats that the system is making things difficult for you or is the system making things too difficult for you and you're not getting good stats?

I'm often the highest scorer on the losing team in turf wars when I play with randoms, so... both?

It took me a while to "get" the game. I played until I reached level 10 but wasn't really enjoying it or feeling it. Then I played with some of my friends and all of a sudden it just clicked and I now I absolutely love it. I didn't really understand some of the impressions you guys had until now.

Play ranked. When you want throw your controller out the window, that's when you know it's really clicked! :P

Nah, there are tabs on the bottom for the three clothing groups.
There's tabs on the bottom to switch between equipment types.

I'm an idiot. Thanks.

I feel like I could have written this post word for word. Agree completely. Well, actually I did get over the brush coverage but the carbon roller is just so much better.

What you said doesn't disprove that there is a hidden rank system within the letter tiers. I don't have solid proof, but I believe there is one. In a room full of B players where I'm the top person on my side with a high K/D ratio, the game seems to know who the roughly equal top player is on the enemy team and keeps us apart (separate teams) at a rate that appears much higher than chance.

Is defense up useful for anything at all? I know the .52 gal thing but that's pretty niche. I had a nice piece of gear going, 2 special charge up sub abilities and the last slot ended up being defense.

Ink score I guess. K/D tends to depend on the group I'm playing with, and the map sometimes
Ink score is ehhhh

Best player status is least deaths, even or higher kills, and second or first pts imo

I've seen games where people get tons of points but that doesn't mean you necessarily have map control if you're dying a decent amount of time

Spash loses bad to everything, it's basically a bomb rush generator and no other major positive.

Still really fun to use.
Very fun, yup. I also like that it has little spread

I prefer it in close range to most weapons tbh, don't think it typically has problems

I read somewhere that if someone in your team disconnected you would only lose 1 points in a ranked battle. Yet two people on my team disconnected and I lost all 10p.

I'm crying salty tears right now. I lost count of how many times SM239 was on the opposing side, making it absolutely impossible to get anywhere or do anything.

Why does Splatoon's matchmaking hate me? You're supposed to randomise the teams, not keep the exact same ones for ten matches in a row.
