Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

brush 2stronk

I think the key thing to remember with the brush if you don't have a lot of stealth equipment is that holding it down and using it like a roller will let you beat a retreat or an offensive push in a jiffy. It's a beast for quick escapes or flanking. You NEVER have to worry about moving in enemy ink.

Plus it's the best for that first push to the hill in splat zones.

Just witnessed the most infuriating thing in ranked: some guy standing at the spawn, just painting walls.

Fighting the final boss with the Splat Roller makes me want to punch myself in the face.
The last couple phases are the absolute worst with the roller.
There is just so much shit coming at you.

ROFL not that's playing the game on hard mode. Is that even possible?
Sure it is, you just wait for his fists/missile to get near then splat it.

I beat the whole boss just using the Kraken's jump attack. I bet it's much harder with the roller though since you have to dodge attacks too.

Does anyone have any general tips for if I were inclined to give motion controls a fair shot?

It'll be strange at first, especially if you're already played the game with analogs but force yourself to give it at least a half hour to an hour and see where that gets you.

As for tips, I use the right analog stick for broad, sweeping right left camera movement and the gyro for aiming up and down and other minor aim adjustments. Don't forget you can hit y to quickly snap the camera around, allowing for a fast 180 or quick fix if the gyro is slightly thrown off. With this method you have to remember there's no need for huge sweeping motions of the gamepad, I just rest it on my lap and slightly tilt it up or down to aim where I want. After a little bit of time it has becone natrual to me, I even tried playing dual analogs again a couple of days ago and found myself still tilting the controller to aim even though it was disabled, haha.

Good luck, hope it clicks for you as it'll probably be a bit of a struggle at first but eventually you should see the light and become great with it!

Brush and roller scrubs are free kills.

It takes some time to get used to, so give it at least an hour or two. Practice in single player. Start from a lower sensitivity to get a feel for it, then go higher. Use the right stick to adjust your horizontal look. Don't forget Y will reset your position. Make small movements.

Ugh just got hit with a string of laggy matches. Getting stuck in paint you've literally just covered because the game hasn't registered it yet is no fun at all.

Krackon rollers in the small maps in ranked are still insanely frustrating. They can hold down point forever and if you shoot them they turn into a monster and chase you away. Enemy ink doesn't slow down the Kracken either.

And then there's the golden roller. Brrrrrr

This game is so so much harder than I thought it would be.

Firefights in center areas with contested ink blotches everywhere is some serious shit.

You guys made me try the inkbrush, even though I'd been trying to wait for a bit. OH MY GOD this thing is hilarious! I'm dying! What an awesome game!

Only if they're bad

Brushers that is, I've yet to see a roller be super dominating in combat, very easy to fight. The brush is the equivalent to the knife in most shooters, if they see you outside your range you're fucked and vice versa.
Join us. GAF has a number of good rollers

Uh oh. Taking a break from Splatoon, I went back to The Witcher 3, since I only scratched the surface before I got sucked into Splatoon. I was trying to look up at a Windmill. And instinctively tilted the PS controller up. Gonna have to readjust...

Earlier today I learned what Hell truly is. Wound up in a match against 4 Krak-on rollers. Normally the thinking is "oh, all-roller team, this will be easy." We got absolutely stomped.

By the time everyone met at the middle, there was a Kraken. Forced to retreat or die, that left an area uncontested for the other rollers to come in and quickly cover. Which would give them another Kraken. Which would give them space to claim. Et cetera. Please for the love of everything, never again.

Not as bad as fighting invisible opponents. I literally could not see a single opponent. But I saw all of their ink just appearing.

Release the Kraken

Comm errors are still a thing I see.
Only when you put smashley and violet in the same lobby. That was my first one in days.
Sorry game started before I finished. Don't know why I hit send.

There are a couple of good rollers on here. Its not an easy fight if they know what theyre doing.
Nvm, Red's room was full.
I got out to reply and get a drink anyways so its good you didn't get in.

wow splat roller is garbo
keep trying. Its a lot of fun once you get the hang of it.
