Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

get-out.gif

Illmatic is great too but I don't listen to one song from it exclusively for hours a day.

Kelp dome is my favorite map. Its the first map that has wide open spaces which, considering every other map so far is essentially a bunch of narrow corridors for the most part, makes things interesting in that it changes the pace up. For this reason Im also excited for the skyscraper map as that is introducing some vertical elements that have been sorely lacking from other maps.
Also in kelp dome, there isnt one specific choke point which is awesome. Thats one thing I hated about the other maps, if you control one area you basically control everything.

I'm guessing people who like Kelp Dome on Turf Wars are pacifists or something cause there's almost no combat on that map.

I dunno, I get in combat a lot. Maybe Im just picking fights though. If I see an enemy guy painting our turf in the distance Ill run at him and splat him (or try to)

well the problem is that people tend to survive with 0.1 health (seriously), and I don't like to have to hit twice

Third time I'm posting this but... Echolcator.

Kelp Dome is turning out to be my most combat heavy map. I love hunting those innocent rollers...

Technically, you are correct, as I wouldn't call what I do "combat". More like shooting fish in a barrel.

I think the best defense is a good offense on this stage. If you are just running around re-spraying over enemy ink, your win/loss is a coin flip. I spray until I get echolocator on, then beeline straight to the enemy and splat wit my .96!

Rollers in general. I would think theyre meant to be tanks. Why else be soooooo slow. Theyre designed for up close but in reality, these weapons seemingly output the same attack power. If i roll into an inkbrush, it wins by default on account of its speed. Additionally, Dude was rolling a high rate fire gun and it was insta death for me. I dont get it.
Hmmmm... if you want additional survivability, how about trying a weapon that has Bubbler or Kraken? Once you build up your special meter you can use either to give yourself some more breathing room, and Bubbler is an excellent support special that helps your allies out as well. Otherwise, I think the nature of the game is that your survivability is very dependent on your mobility. Keep inking and always attack from the sides or from behind!

Played a few matches but matchmaking is slow today.

When did bunny hopping Blasters become meta? Hope they patch that so the Blaster players auto jump when firing if they're going to jump with every shot anyway.
I don't really do this often myself, but I feel like I should. What happens is that whenever you shoot with the Blaster or Rapid Blaster, you basically slow down so much that you essentially stop moving for about a half or a full second. And that's really bad, because then you're a very easy target at that point. Jumping is supposed to compensate by making you a slightly harder target during your "cooldown" from shooting, but that doesn't always work out.

Since the first weekend. Rollers and Blasters auto jump woh every shot. I am not sure if it actually helps, or if jumpers are just more skilled overall. I notice that rollers who don't jump never kill me, and those that do jump are an actual threat.

The thing with blasters is that a direct hit is too weak. It's always better to blast slightly overhead. The blast is stronger than direct hit, and the ink raining down also helps.
Oh goodness no, a direct hit with the normal Blaster is an OHKO, that's very much what a Blaster user wants to do. Aiming a little higher than normal is also good for a Blaster, because the projectile won't actually explode correctly if it hits terrain before it goes the full distance. That's actually a very slight nerf to the range of a Blaster now that I think about it, but it's maybe not too bad...

For Rollers, jumping helps by extending the distance that the ink will travel. I believe this applies for Rollers and Splattershot style weapon.

hey guys, I think the Rapid Blaster might be underrated

a direct hit normally does 80 damage, caps at 99.9 damage with Damage Up and it has a higher range and fire rate of a normal blaster. I might have to test this weapon
Ooooo, I want to test this :3 Been having fun with Rapid Blaster Deco, and I was asking earlier about what perks I should try...

Jumping while splashing actually decreases the concentration of ink and increases the spread of ink. For rollers it means that you actually do less damage when you jump and splash high.

The rapud deco is notable because it's the only weapon with suction rush.

Speaking of which I wonder if we'll get seeker rush. Would probably be outclassed by inkzooka, but meh.

Mackeral doesn't really have a choke unless you're very good at lane control.

I want to like the blaster weapons, but I'm just not very good with them. Probably because I don't jump, like, at all. Maybe I should practice that?

...Nah, it's probably just the fact that my aim is terrible, lol.

actually having trouble getting into matches... now due to not enough people in lobby... this is worrying

fuck.. nvm was jsut stupid marie and callie arghh...

Mackeral doesn't really have a choke unless you're very good at lane control.

It's not too difficult for the other team to hold the two lanes out of the spawn point because they have a wide space to work with while you only have lanes and even the higher areas have fairly predictable exit areas.

Nothing like getting a "connection unstable" message that stops all your inputs before getting splatted in the middled of Kelp Dome's Splat Zones by an E-Liter cheeser.

Can defense up even block 30 points of damage? If this is not the case, damage ups are practically useless with it, unless you miss the blast or something.
You don't use Damage Ups to secure a 2HKO. You use it so that any chip damage at all gets you an OHKO. So if they walk in enemy ink for even a split-second, for example, you can OHKO.

Just got my first violation on miiverse for mentioning white ink. Pic was safe for work even
Huehuehuehue. Should have said to google white ink. There's white ink tattoos , pens, ect

I once got a Miiverse violation for posting a pic from Wii Sports run event with a 8bit Luigi visible without spoiler tags...

I got a violation my first week for posting 'Get out of here, Carl' to a ZombiU post referencing The Walking Dead. And it stays in notifications forever now. FOREVER.
I got a comment removed today for telling someone else how to send me a friend request within Miiverse. Apparently the admins misread it and thought I was saying how to send a friend request in some way they don't support... I almost kinda wish Miiverse and GAF would swap moderation policies with one another for a day, just to see the carnage...

!
I see, so that's the reason. I actually thought most of they time they were used to negate defense up. Thank you for the tip.

This is the oddest Splatoon post I've seen.
What a way to find out.

As for actual Splatton posts, Kelp Dome is a'ight. Inkzooka is really helpful for the walkways from below.

People need to realise that inking their base even a little on the way out is pretty useful for the whole winning thing.

Aww yiss, hit a new personal best last night! Granted, this was playing with randoms all night. I'm too afraid to start playing with GAFfers because reality would set in pretty quickly.

But playing with people who are good at the game is the best way to get better!

I've noticed that can happen when ANYONE in the current match is having issues. It's only a matter of time until you or someone else drops off and then it clears up.

It happened to me yesterday and two of my teammates and three of our opponents dropped. It was just one lone charger left fending off me and another guy

So is there a way to reduce disconnects? I am using an USB LAN adapter and even disconnected my laptop from the internet. The last few days were horrible. The game became basically unplayable for me. I tried it again today:

Completed one match, followed by 5 disconnects.
Completed one match, followed by 3 disconnects.
Completed two matches, followed by 5 disconnects.

Every match there's a phase in the first 30 seconds where my ink takes about 5 to 10 seconds before it either shows up or I get disconnected.

I never had any problems with MK8, COD:BOII or COD:Ghosts.

Okay, I understand losing points on your disconnects, but if you're 1x4 on Splat Zones from 30 seconds into the match don't make me lose the goddamn full 10 points.

Got my first connection unstable message during the match.

Also in one of the match my team only spawn 3 members and yet somehow we won. :O

My gear is also starting to finalize in terms of look and what I want out of them, just need to get extra power and one that prevents speed drop in enemy's inks.

I don't, I find it unfair that I lose point just for my Wi-Fi disconnecting as that is beyond my control and I should not be punished for it.

Thankfully it doesn't happen to often.

If you didn't lose points for disconnecting people would just turn off their Wii U's whenever a match turns sour.

Don't know about that. I get my highest kill counts in Kelp Dome. You just need to know how to use the catwalks to your advantage.

So how big is the coin/experience difference between ranked and unranked? Should I just hit the ranked queue to grind to level 20?
