Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

One thing that I hate is people that could use my beacon to superjump but dont.
Like it's there! I put it on a really nice high place near the splatzone, use it dammit!
Sometimes I won't use a beacon if there's only one, I preffer to leave it there for the guy who placed it.

Man don't you just love it when you're playing on Arowana Mall and there are two really good chargers in your room and the game puts them together in the opposite team over and over. And over. And over.

I think it's worse in Bluefin personally...
But yeah it's rough specially since I main a roller :P

I was one of the only people who can get in range of them easily as a dual squelcher... so they would always aim for me the second they saw me :(

MIND = BLOWN

I always wonder where the fun is in playing a roller. It seems like such a boring class to me.

As someone with their most games played on Splattershot Pro, .52 Gal, Aerospray, etc... Rollers are fucking fun. If I could play Dynamo Rollers better, I'd do it. I feel like I play the faster rollers like Krak-On well enough but Dynamo is a different playstyle entirely. If anyone complains about the roller weapons I invite you to play them match after match... because while they are strong, they aren't so overpowered that you can brainlessly play them.

As much as certain weapons make me rage, I don't think any weapon in Splatoon is overpowered.

Inlkings can't swim and are land dwellers so you're not actually under the sea.

Time to glue that mind back together again.

Ranked is so fucking intense, and I love it :)

Yesterday I had a match which lost 5 out of 8 players, so it was me against 2 others, and I won :D Best feeling ever :)

trying to translate in between matches is hilariously impossible

non-gaf after-school rooms are so ridiculous. I just went 10-0 on a 3-man team against a full 4 man team and WON

/edit NOBODY ELSE ON MY TEAM GOT ANY KILLS AND WE STILL WON

This sounds fantastic! Are these sound dumps available anywhere for listening in its original sound quality? Can the mp3 handle surround sound?
Rich! made a thread about the vgmstream plugin then it is a matter of getting the raw files from somewhere like hcs64.

As for making derivative formats out of them. For 2 channel stuff just convert using foobar or winamp. For more than that using the command line version of vgmstream (to output to wav) and convert to stereo using audacity and would have to make a version for each you want to do. I've not tried this yet.

From what I gather Hyrule Warriors is easier than Splatoon and MK in that its channels don't have volume variance (some info on the MK8 volume variance are in a few pages starting here) but here is the 10 channel version of the Hyrule Warriors main theme downmixed to stereo.

Of course taking everything and downmixeding doesn't always make sense (e.g. Fire Emblem awakening where the regular and ablaze versions of tracks are 2 sound channels each...combining them makes a mess) as seems to be the case with the single player hub world.

you can your e-litre can go back to hell where you were spawned, heng! *shakes fist*

/edit this japanese dual squelcher bomb throwing jackass can go suck on a lemon

Lol you guys need to stop moving, you're making it harder to aim.

GG blue

It looks like my sniping abilities became horrible recently. At least I still have my bombs.

Anyways, it's nice seeing other Chargers play and improve. It's also nice seeing the base E-Liter get some love. I like it about as much as the Splat Charger.

jesus christ heng i thought you were just good with the elitre but then you hit me with three burst bombs as i was freaking MOVING

WHAT THE FUCK HENG

The kraken on the Custom is nice but I barely get a special per match. The bomb provides better close range combat. Not to mention I did bother placing beacon down.

Lol thanks, I've been practicing. It's not so useful covering turf though.

I bought this game two days ago.....and holy shit it's fun as hell. Reminds me of old arena shooters, a perfect experience (even online!). Sorry, Witcher but Splatoon could be GotY.

According to the explanation, "regular match" doesn't take into account the closeness of your ranks, but rather the similarity of one's playstyle. Rank is a measure of the amount of time that you've played; in direct matching its influence is negligible.

In other words, people who focus only on improving their kill count will largely be matched against other people like them. In short, kill count, death counts and paint points are the three criteria by which matchmaking is accurately assessed.

Initially, we wanted to make ranks vaguely map to the match-making criteria (?) but gradually began to feel that it just wasn't working. At last, we solved the mystery.

Of course it's not a perfect system, so once in a while players might notice and think "I've been ranked here?", but hopefully players will come to the realisation that they've been assuredly put into the same category as like-minded players (lol).

---

this was kinda difficult to translate, not sure if I got all the nuances...

sometimes the matchmaking goes wonky and you end up in a game against what feels like 6 year olds. I should have felt bad but I didn't.

Man i was B+ and played with really bad people and now i am C+ so fucking pissed off!

This exact same thing happened to be on Friday. It was a rather long time since I last played so a big part of my rank tanking was the fact that I got a little rusty.
Yesterday I went to sleep around 4 AM but it was worth it, now I am A-. Wonder if I can prevent falling again :-)

you can't

i just got to a-, played my first ranked game for a while, quad killed the entire other team dying to the last one and my team was too busy cautiously advancing to rush the point

The Wii U actually allows "IwataSucks" as a nickname, lol. Used it for a few matches but then chickened out in fear of fanboy DDOS attacks.

Seriously though, opinions on Splattershot Pro vs Dual Squelcher in ranked. Splatter hits harder, but uses so much ink. The Squelcher also has better coverage. Both have excellent specials. What do you guys think?

Yeah, some people are unbelievable. I used to switch teams everytime something like this happened to me but now I just stay in the same room. People disconnect, the new ones might be better or I may just be placed in the other team next time and enjoy an easy victory.

I never used Splattershot Pro but Dual Squelcher is pretty good. I used it a lot before my current favorite, the .96 Gal

Same here. I used Dual Squelcher frequently before changing to 96 Gal. The squelcher just takes too long to splat. I prefer to make my opponents think "what the hell just happened?" as I splat them in three shots.

I do like the .96, but that rate of fire is just so bad. Also not very good in CQC, right? My hunt for my weapon of choice in ranked continues.

I should use the .96 more often in turf wars to experiment.

It has a good range and a decent damage too. When you're up close to someone with a one-hit-kill weapon (like a roller or the dreaded custom blaster), I don't really think it matters much what weapon you have.

I never used .96 in turf wars though, since I switched to it after I reached level 20, and it seems that there's more sense in playing Splat Zones right now - more points for money and unlocking abilities, and still something to play for other than the fun.
But the coverage is not bad.

That's why you use tenacity with it.

And now as of last night I am officially A-.
I'm not too sure how much faster my special gauge will fill up with tenacity, but even if it did allow me to have it 3 or 4 times in a match, it may not be ready when I need it most. I think the Burst Bombs are more reliable and I can use it whenever I want, and the echolocator is very good as well.

And congrats on the A-.
