I actually enjoyed this, but I thought the Joker sucked. Leto did a fine job, but I just didn't like the way he was written at all.
However, when you make your villain a Witch capable of destroying the world, I'm left to wonder where the Flash is? That's always a big problem in these cinematic universes though.
A lot of the dialogue was dumb too, but I liked the overall tone of the movie, and want to see more of these characters.

Yup, that's Enchantress alright. Just stick a ridiculous helmet on her head and put some black smoke behind her and you're done.

Yea, I agree with people who want more Waller. She was badass.
Thinking back they had way too many songs playing. The songs really messed with my immersion.
Flash said, "I thought there was honor among thieves?" Or something similar to that and shoulder bashes Boomerang and disappears. I appreciate you Flash.
Cara is still a cutie though ^_^
I did wonder what the heroes were doing but then I remembered that they were probably off doing something else. Flash was probably jobbing to metahumans, Cyborg probably haven't emerged yet, Batman is off finding Marthas, Supes is six feet under, Wondy is.... Actually where is Wondy? Aquaman is probably trying to restore order in Atlantis.

Just got back, definitely a sloppy film that was carried by the characters and cast. It's really frustrating because it feels like they could have made an excellent film. I'd say it's probably a 4 or 5/10.
- Deadshot and Harley were done great but they take up too much time in the film. Deadshot more so at the start but Harley and Joker were in the film way too much.
- I like Leto's Joker as I feel like he's the most menacing of the ones we've had (Ledger's is better in the insanity/psychological aspects) but the scenes he got were totally whatever and totally worked against the pacing of the film. That said, I wouldn't mind having him in a different film with proper screen time.
- The rest of the cast worked but had no development or bad development in the film which is a real shame. I had to cringe at Katana getting her back story told by Flag twice. So stupid. Diablo's back story felt like it oculd have been a better constrast to Deadshot if they spent more time working towards that. Boomerang and Croc were well, Boomerang and Croc.
- Action didn't feel like it really accentuated the abilities of the villains at all. Deadshot was OK but the others were kinda meh. Harley was too much of a brawler and I sorta wished she had more of her tools and slightly goofier fight style. Boomerang hardly used his tools of the trade for cool things. Croc seemed underpowered. Diablo got one scene before the climax which ended up being kinda coolish but they didn't build him up enough.
- Intro was way too long and felt like they wanted to make it cool looking instead of trying to do a real story because all of these intros could have worked with them trying to traverse the city to do their jobs.

Boomerang uses his boomerangs as knives more than boomerangs. Boomerangs. His semtex and drone boomerangs were best at the end there, if not random.
There's a disconnect from Waller calling the crew dangerous to what we see them do. Good thing they had a military squad with rifles to do the shooting.

They were also facing a threat that basically none of them were equipped for because they were essentially all human.
Waller kept calling them meta-humans, but they aren't except for like one or arguably two.
Unless they're implying that Harley is now a meta-human in addition to apparently being as dangerous as Hannibal Lecter that she has a more high security cell than Deadshot who could kill someone with a thrown pen.

Well that was awful. I can have a good time with bad films if they're entertaining but I was so bored.

I wasn't oringinally sure about Letos joker before the movie. But he was the one bright spot for me personally, wouldn't mind seeing more of him in the future.
Another bizarre moment: After she's been defeated, Enchantress says "let me join my brother", i.e., kill me. Flag refuses, and starts demanding June back, then threatens her with crushing her heart, even though she just asked him to kill her. She then taunts him about not having the balls to kill her, and then he crushes the heart, killing her, which he had just refused to do.
Well she said she was not going to bring June back. He had no reason to doubt her since she wanted to die. She was holding all the cards so to speak.
Yeah, but the point is that he goes from refusing to kill her, to then killing her, which the movie seems to play as showing that he has balls, even though he's just doing what Enchantress already wanted him to do.
Just back. I really hated it, I mean I just wanted it to be over by the end. Absurdly disjointed, you can see scenes and stories pieced together from stuff which was originally a completely different story line (Joker and Harley I'm looking at you)
Wasn't funny, action wasn't great, story was so blah I've already forgotten most of it and half of the ensemble had fuck all to do. A couple of decent performances, but one of the worst 3rd acts I can remember.
And fuck me the CGI for the cleaned up version of the enchantress was utterly shit. The actresses face was just bouncing around.

I figured her plea was more about trying to control her with the heart (since they cut it out of her)

The Kinda Funny review pointed out my problem with that scene. It didn't actually tell us anything new. It teases that Bruce is going to go put the Justice League together, but we already knew that, because there's a movie called Justice League coming out and we've already seen a teaser where he goes to put the team together.
And it's not like Bruce needs that folder to find them, he already has their YouTube videos favorited.
It just felt like this was them trying to do the Samuel L Jackson thing at the end of Iron Man, but instead of being a cool surprise it was completely expected.

Its absolutely terrible. I hated Kinnaman, his lover Enchantress (worst baddie?) and generally everyone except for Margot Robbie who did a great job as Quinn and also got the most screen time.
The build up takes like an hour and then you hope they start to get it on, but looking back on it that was the fucking best part of this movie (Batman underwater punching Quinn etc). The actual mission was terrible and Joker? I thought I saw someone impersonating Jim Carrey in the Mask. Awful.
And how can Quinn escape in the end? Aren't they rigged (Waller still implies so right before they get locked up again)?

I just assumed he was keeping his promise to June that if he had to choose it would be to kill Enchantress. He made a last desperate attempt to get her back but realized it wasn't going to work out.

Can someone explain to me why Joker shoved Harley off that ledge (presumably to kill her) then changed his mind and dove after to save her? That part really confused me
I don't think that part can easily be explained other than "they have a complicated relationship" without reading the rather comprehensive list of cut scenes and what their dynamic was supposed to be like based on those scenes.

I agree, and as someone who loved seeing these two characters work in the animated show, it was a dream come true. Pleasantly surprised.

Yeah that's what I figured. Ayer said there should be a lot of stuff on the blu ray so even if there's no new cut hopefully we still get to see some of that stuff.
Which is funny because it's pretty much like reverse Lex. I liked Lex but I just hated how he was written.
I'm liking what I hear of the original Joker though. What with him abusing Harley and actually acting more of the Joker instead of whatever we got.
Too bad they didn't at least have Enchantress be on the team for one movie before she turns on everyone.

El Diablo was probably the best character, but I see why everyone talks up Harley and Deadshot since El Diablo is like 3 lines away from being set dressing like every other member.

Lol This feels accurate.
It made it weirder since it looked like he was trying to kiss her rather than revive her. And the editing of that scene was awkward all around.

He asks "would you die for me?" and she says yes. Meaning "would you jump". He then says "no, would you live for me?" and she says yes. Meaning "does she love him enough to survive the fall into the chemicals"
She does it and he waits to see what happens, but after a moment of hesitation he goes in to retrieve her, showing that he does at least sort of care about her
Obviously it makes a lot more sense if you explain that Joker was turned into that via the chemicals. It's like a twisted test to see if they were meant to be together

It looked like she was having a seizure.
The way she was talking throughout the movie didn't suggest, at all, she'd throw that out at the end. Threw me off and seemed really unnecessary..

Damn, so many moments where so abrupt and brief for major plot points, it was jarring as all hell.
One question I had because I may have missed it, how did the squad's helicopter go down? I saw bullet fire, which I was assuming was from the helicopter behind it, but Waller looked panicked as it hit the ground.

It's implied than it were zombies with machine guns, but it's kinda of a plot hole.

the camerawork in this movie whenever Margot Robbie was on the screen managed to make Wolf of Wall Street look subtle.
