Are people somewhat open to the idea this could be in the realm of Star Wars and Empire, or are people kinda building a fence around those two still?

Call me crazy, but I think it'll top Star Wars- but not Empire. That's something that will ultimately be up to Rian Johnson with Episode VIII or one of the future Anthology films.

For me, I am sure it will surpass ANH. I'm just not a huge fan of Ep. IV.

Likewise. I used to rank RotJ above it, due to it having much stronger highlights, but my most recent viewings of the OT did prove that Star Wars is a much more consistent film than RotJ. That said, Empire is the only film in the series that I think will be a real challenge to actually top.

Oooh lots of new tidbits since I last peaked in here.

It sounds like the flashback is what I was speculating towards the back end of the OTC thread. *gives self gold star* I still think Snoke will have been in Kylo's head for a while, and helped lure him towards his cause, using jealousy and ambition to steer him away from Luke. I think there'll be an aspect of Anakin's "they don't appreciate how powerful I am" attitude, but far more psychotic.

Could...could Kylo be the best villain the saga has had? Not as iconic, obviously.

I soooo don't want a redemption arc from him. In the ST, I can see Rey and Kylo's paths juxtaposing one another, both in terms of their upbringing, and their resolution. It won't be an internal battle, like Luke or Anakin; I think it'll be symbolized in two very different characters. Basically, I just want Kylo to be a badass throughout.

Final predictions about the gaps in what we know, before the Internet explodes;

- Rey is Luke's daughter.
- Finn isn't, and never will be, Force Sensitive.
- Snoke has been in Kylo's head for a while.
- Han gets stabbed in the chest.
- The vision will show the lightsaber's journey, showing how it ended up in Maz's hands. I'm staring to think BB-8 never has it, as we'd first assumed.
- Kylo is 15/16/17 when he attacks the academy. His turn to the dark side tears Han and Leia apart, after they gave him to Luke for training. He's motivated by jealousy, ambition, arrogance and anger. He idolizes Vader, with the encouragement of Snoke, and believes that he's destined to be as powerful as Anakin was. He's always felt it to be his birth right, to be THAT powerful. Luke tried to teach him restraint, patience and respect. Snoke was the devil on his shoulder, whispering in his ear, offering him the forbidden fruit.
- Finn loses his hand.
- Rey force pulls the saber into her hand.
- Finn says "I've got a bad feeling about this..."

I'll see you all on the other side. I'm not going dark, but this'll be the last time there's things we're not sure on. Hype!

The premier event is live. Case anyone wants to watch.

I just tuned in and they were finishing up interviewing Gleeson (Who I haven't seen promote shit in forever).

I totally think it could be in the realm of A New Hope and Empire. I think I'm one of the few people that thinks that Abrams is very good at what he does, and that's evoke your childhood nostalgia. Super 8, both Treks, and it looks like this too, harken back to my childhood.

The term nostalgia seems to be a double edged sword for many. I can kind of understand that. For every Mad Max: Fury Road, and Creed, you'll get maybe a dozen Terminator: Genysis.

When a capable filmmaker is at the helm, which I think Abrams is, you'll at the very least get something fun and watchable.

I'm not particularly interested in the thought process that IV and V are untouchable. Hell, for the longest time, Jedi was my favorite of the bunch, and depending on how I feel at the time, it still is.

With that said, I HOPE that VII is a good movie first, and I'll worry about how it stacks up to the OT later. My gut is telling me that it's going to be a good time. I don't care if it's GOAT. But I will say that, coming off of Mad Max and Creed, Star Wars has some stiff fucking competition when it comes to tugging on my inner 8 year old, while still being a competent, coherent movie.

Damn Creed was good. And Fury Road is still my picture of the year. I could look at frames of that film and shot compositions for hours (although, full disclosure, I AM doing that; I've been studying a lot of different films from different genres these days among other things to improve my storyboarding and comic book visual storytelling).

Me, the missus, my sister, and her teenage twins are going to see it on Sunday morning. The excitement, which was a dull thump, is starting to ramp up in intensity as release approaches.

I feel good for George.

There's a new movie coming out in the franchise that he created and no matter how it turns out the fans won't be able to give him all hell for it.

Ford's reaction just then, priceless.

Reporter basically said how he feels like with the new Han Solo film coming up, TFA is 'just the beginning' for this character.

Harrison laughed in his face and said, "You think?"

He said something like "I hope so".

Didn't seem suggestive of him being signed on, of course, it could just be him not spoiling anything.

I saw it too, and it did seem like a very likely-"I hope so",

And Hamill was just on. He seems to be enjoying not having to do a lot of press, although I expect that to change next week or after that.

And Boyega looks like The Joker.

I loved Clone Wars and have seen all the Rebels episodes thus far.

Edit: Jesus, I'm getting excited now. Can I just sleep for the next two days. Is that not healthy?

Dude has his own custom shirts i'd buy in an instant.
