What does her bust have to do with how fast she can get to the airport?
How do you even know she's a she, has big breasts or was even the same girl he met earlier?
The plot is too absurd and has now devolved into an anything goes situation, you don't know ANYTHING because rules of logic and physics have no bearing in the "story."

Twelve Kingdoms 24-26 - Okay episodes, but this series continues being somewhat uncomfortable to watch. I don't like how long it keeps the suspense going before it finally allows anything to happen, I can't take it and just want to know what's going to happen but in this show it's likely that it'll be way too long until it'll tell me. Not fun.
As for the plot, Youko is the main character but there are also bits about the stories of two other female characters we've seen some of before, the former princess Shouhei from ep. 23 and a Japanese girl who got caught in a storm and pulled to the Twelve Kingdoms a century ago and is now a servant at a quite nasty woman's palace. She's immortal and can understand their speech thanks to the servant contract, but hates her mistress and is miserable. Understandable, with the not very nice stuff the mistress makes her servants do.
Youko's story is the best of these three by far, so far. She's the queen now of course, but she's having a tough time with learning how to be queen of a fantasy kingdom. That makes sense, how many modern-day high schoolers would be able to cope with suddenly being tossed into a very strange fantasy world and abruptly made their ruler? It's kind of absurd to expect her to be able to get it all without problems, she just doesn't know how this world works and nor would anyone. I'm not sure exactly what's going on yet, entirely, because the show's keeping it hidden, but there is obviously a conspiracy. Probably several conspiracies. So far one has been revealed, in part; it remains to be seen if these people really were evil, I'm not sure, but I guess they were conspiring against her. The question is why, is that lord who escaped behind it or is it deeper? I expect there to be multiple conspiracies soon. Youko's doing what she can and she's doing a decent job of it, but it's really hard for someone to be tossed into a tough job like that, particularly when they know nothing about how this world works. I'm sure she will figure out things better as the series continues, she's smart enough. But yeah, it's an interesting story of conspiracies and Youko learning about how the kingdom works and how she should run it. This part was the best side of these episodes.
As for Shouhei, she's a serious pain. Sure, up to this point all she'd ever done was been cute and danced and stuff, without another thought in her head, and now she has to suffer and deal with being mortal, but seriously, I do think that she should be more able to rationally think about what people are saying about the things her parents did. She hears the innumerable horriffic stories of their crimes, but she somehow manages to mostly ignore them and just keeps defending his actions. Sure, she was sheltered in the palace and not allowed out, but now that the truth has been revealed to her, that she continues to be in denial and defend them is awful! Even if it's sad and hard to take, the truth is the truth, and she's not just denying it, she's making false, stupid accusations on others in her attempts to cling on to the lies her parents told them about what she was doing.
I can understand her bitterness at suddenly being mortal now and having to work instead of living in the palace, but her awful attitude, defense of her father's actions, etc. make her very, very hard to take. That Kei guy was being pretty admirable when he ignored her numerous stupid insults and just banished her, instead of having her killed like almost everyone else in the country wants...
Overall, 12 Kingdoms is a good show, and might be objectively better, but it's not nearly as much fun to watch as Gosick (referring to the comparison from earlier). Sorry.

Vampire Princess Miyu TV 1
I would say that this isn't exactly what I was expecting but as I wasn't sure what to expect that isn't strictly true. It certainly feels very Japanese horror, specifically the notion of having
a supernatural group cleanse evil spirits from this world while having some interaction with a 'normal' human
reminds me of Requiem from the Darkness (have you seen this, Hitokage?), as both works lean heavily on the trappings of horror, rather than just a supernatural story.
Then again, they even killed the 'normal' guy, so the audience is left without a tether point to relate with. Although he was kind of a dick, so seeing him tumble to his death wasn't entirely unsatisfactory, even if it did seem a tad extreme.
Speaking of horror trappings, a hugely important element in generating horror/suspense is the use of an oppressive, disturbing atmosphere, which in this episode was achieved largely with the use of Kenji Kawai's impressive, dirge-like (shitty word, I know) score. Importantly this score wasn't just reserved for say,
killing scenes,
but rather every scene was scored with a different piece so that the mood was maintained throughout the show. This is basic, but important stuff that other directors tend to somehow forget.
The camera work was very restrictive, in that we had a lot of close-ups. These restrict the information available to the viewer, constantly forcing them to imagine what might be going on outside their field of vision. Once again, this is another technique common in horror works. It's also a little weird to see shots like these so frequently (for example, the repeated imagery of staring down at ones feet) so it also unsettles the viewer. Like the sound, this cinematography is present throughout the episode, so that the mood is maintained.
Of particular note is the scene
where the teacher first comes home and talks at her chameleon. The whole scene is certainly weird to look at, but the repeated use of that odd, grating noise whenever she's finished talking is especially disturbing. It's not even a noise that sounds like anything you've ever heard before.
Coming home and talking to your pet isn't that odd, even if it has obvious implications about loneliness, but things get a slight more freaky after the boy mentions that the teacher has no boyfriend, which of course leaves us to think of the chameleon as a poor substitute for a boyfriend, after all it's companionship qualities seem rather doubtful. However, we later see the teacher pressed naked on a giant Chameleonoid figure, making the earlier sexual implications more pronounced and disturbing.
Of course, the Chameleon itself is a simple metaphor. It changes it's colour to pretend to be something it isn't. The teacher tells her students that's she isn't like them, she isn't a thief. However, isn't this just her claiming to be one thing when actually she's another? Much like chameleon itself.
Is there anything else to say? Oh yes, I see they
reserved some animation for that brief fight at the end. Surprisingly well animated and thoroughly gory. Great.
And yeah, I like how it plays with your expectations by
setting up that guy as the "normal" character you might expect to be a major character in the series, and then having her kill him in the end, to show you that no, this is about Miyu and not some annoying generic guy, and your expectations are wrong. Good stuff.

First, don't ignore the part where I talk about how the plot is shit and second, she's always the same character so not liking something she's in makes sense, it's not like she gets different roles all the time.
Well sure, of course I agree that the plot is terrible, etc. Hating a show just for one of the voice actors, though, doesn't make sense. Maybe her characters are similar, but I imagine that they're at least a little different... either way though, the point is that I would say that it's the show that makes it bad, not the voice actor(s).

How can you hate on Kinji? Compared to Ichika, the dude that gets hit on by all the girls and doesn't get it even once, Kinji is actually cool in is own passive way since he has some clue about what goes on around him.
Aria has everything over IS simply by not having a complete retard (as of episode 2) as a main character and actually having some humor that doesn't put you to sleep.
So you mean that you like him because he acts like a generic harem lead? Because that kind of thing is exactly the kind of thing generic harem leads do. Ichika's actually a bit abnormal in the degree of his ignoring things...
Ichika is very stupid, but sorry, this guy's complaining is more annoying. And the female characters in IS are less intolerably irritating, too... and as for the female characters, as I said the IS ones are better and much more entertaining.
IS is a horrible, horrible show, but Aria... ugh. Aria is a very generic bad harem action show, with nothing interesting about it to mention. IS, though, is a true one of a kind gem, the kind of awesomely disastrous anime that only comes along once in a rare while...
Remember, IS wasn't the worst show of its season either -- stuff like Rio Rainbow Gate was clearly worse. But it was much more fun to watch IS than Rio, or Aria, and for good reasons. At least IS is funny-bad, and does almost everything so badly that you can't help but laugh at it and talk about how entertaining it is, and all the ways it fails. The two shows aren't in the same category at all.
Aria, though? It's just generic, average bad.

Popularity with Otaku = DVD/Blu-Ray Sales, which is what the list is measuring.
Kid shows usually can survive just fine without selling many DVDs because they generally still have merchandising sales, with toys, or games in this case, and also higher ratings than the otaku stuff, so they actually get money with advertising, rather than the backwards "pay for the timeslot" way of the late night shows.
Dragon Ball Kai is a good example of how good ratings won't save a show. Shit always made the top 10 in ratings, but the DVDs and BDs sold like cancer in a case compared to the Dragon Box releases, toy sales were down, and the franchise as a whole was generating less income than before Kai started.
Beyblade a good example of surviving despite mediocre ratings, no DVD sales (the second season is rental-only in Japan), but huge merchandise sales.
Yeah, that's it. It's kind of an entertaining episode actually but there's so much fluff it's kind of hard to forgive them for how slow everything is playing out.
So you mean that you like him because he acts like a generic harem lead? Because that kind of thing is exactly the kind of thing generic harem leads do. Ichika's actually a bit abnormal in the degree of his ignoring things...

I like Kinji because he isn't a dumb, obtuse idiot (so far at least, he can still be one and I'll hate him). The usual harem lead? I disagree. Usually harem leads are more inept than Kinji's been so far. He just seems unwilling to get involved too much with stuff, which is the way he acts with Aria too. He complains to himself, shuts her up one way or another and goes on with his life. Completely tolerable for me.
Ichika is abnormal in the sense that he is either gay or just a siscon who isn't able to see past his nose unless his sister is in front of him. He was insufferable for me because of his obtuseness, just as the whole female cast was insufferable as they kept going after a guy that didn't seem to understand the difference between men and women.
Aria isn't worse than IS (for me) simply because so far, past the ridiculousness of the plot and the silly premises, it has been funny to follow, has only shown 2 girls interested in the lead, of which 1 romantically (and for some reason I get the feeling this one is with the bad guys as well), the other just as a "partner in crime" (this will change of course, but until then, completely tolerable) and even though Aria is somewhat annoying, she's still more bearable than Ichika's childhood friend(s) thanks to the way Kinji handles her (in a way, some of his actions in regards to her remind me of Kyon, with his "not interested" behavior), even though she's voiced by goddess Rie Kugimiya, imitator of tortured cats at large.
I watched all of IS, and hated myself for it, because I found it awful AND boring, yet I've watched 4 episodes of Aria and while it's bad, it's an amusing bad. It gets me to laugh at the obviously retarded stuff (like the reveals in episode 4, of which the bloodlines are just the smallest thing, the link between Riko and Kinji's brother is even more amusing, if he really is Riko's boyfriend, because, since she didn't use the past tense, would make him alive and with the bad guys. Absurdity at every corner) while still giving some cool, doubly over the top moments (sniping from helicopter).
Watch Milky Holmes instead, the better recent those characters and more reborn show.
Hidan no Aria 4
Might have crossed a bit of a line there with
the HAIR POWERS
, but it's STILL the best damned buddy cop anime since Mad Bull 34. >
Drama! Intrigue! Betrayal! Is there something Hidan no Aria DOESN'T have? Laughing my guts off here. Still great. The sudden deduction he had was great too. "My Boner Powers(tm) have led me to deduce that there is some sort of blatant and obvious pattern going on here". The gun-fu fight brought in a little bit of John Woo, and it's still all pretty well animated. Only thing it needs now is some technology porn showing off that AMAZING butei standard issue body armor they're donning. It's moving pretty fast too, interested in seeing how it goes.
Excuse me as Team Hidan no Aria does crazy fuck'n stunts over everyone else while they fight over otaku scraps.
Does one even exist? I remember just getting the normal Nu Asurada model and getting my friend to make it all shiny. He also bought a normal Asurada model and converted it into Athrun's car from SEED Destiny >.>
Yep that was fucking awesome. RuPaul Fire Emblem is hilariously FABULOUS. The way he changed when he was attacked by the mech made me lol. Glad to see the true 'villain' finally make his debut, though I wish that he wouldn't be in the next episode and that they'd just keep him a bit of a mystery still.
Ok I decided to watch Aria to see if my initial impressions of the show being horribly generic and bad were wrong.
Nope. God, shows like this make me lose my interest in anime altogether. Generic art-style, characters, stupid plot-twists, and just an overall crappy story.
What a classy and charming show! It had been recommended to me before but for some reason I never got around to it. Boy, was I missing out on what appears to be a nice little story. It's definitely got my attention now.
Excellent little movie. The animation was fantastic and even the story got pretty interesting at the end. I usually ignore this random shounen movies because they are always filler and usually kind of bad, but I guess there are some good ones. Any other good shounen movies you have to recommended?
This show. Oh, this show. I love this show. Some of these scenes don't deserve to work but KyoAni makes them work anyway.

Hot sister is hot.
Sengoku Otome (Battle Girls) 02 - This was better than episode 1, I thought. I almost dropped the series after ep. 1 because of how bad it was, but now I think I'll continue... The main character is still annoyingly stupid and mostly useless, but I liked a few things about this episode and found it moderately entertaining.
First, the main character girl (she is, remember, a complete moron) starts out sleepy, and looks for her toothbrush before remembering where she is. Then she complains that the only clothing she has is her school uniform and school gym uniform; she wants other clothing, apparently. This has got to be one of the first times in a "girl pulled into a fantasy world" anime that I've seen the main character complain about only having a school uniform, and want other clothing... good stuff.
She goes with Nobunaga and underling to look at the nearby village, which was destroyed in the fire in ep. 1. The women there are picking up what they can of the rubble of their houses. The main character tries to inspire them by playing a song on her cellphone (she also checks for reception several times in the episode... see my above comment about her being an idiot. And I wonder how long those batteries are going to last...). Nobunaga likes that she inspired the peasants. Underling woman is angry.
Also, she asks the talking dog for an explanation of why (among humans) there are only women in this world. He claims that there are indeed no males here, and that children are found in places like where they are in classic stories -- in bamboo shoots, floating down the river, etc. Who knows if he's telling the truth, but it is kind of amusing if true.
After that, the angry woman who's Nobunaga's underling challenges our heroine to a set of matches testing her combat skills. She loses, badly -- no super awesome all-around combat skills here. She does do a little better in the last round, the fight with staffs, by using a move she saw on a TV martial arts show she used to watch, but still loses.
Hyuge Mono 01 - Pretty good show! I will definitely be continuing with this series. It's got fairly decent historical accuracy, Sengoku combat, Nobunaga being a good leader and also a jerk, a guy obsessed with tea, and more. The main character's faces when thinking about tea, and that special teapot, were pretty awesome... he's an interesting lead. Solid plot too. This is good, I'd been meaning to watch it for a while and it's good that I finally did.

This was directed by Hosoda Mamoru. Yes, I've become a Hosoda bitch. No, most shounen jump movies tend to be crappy because they are by definition, filler.
