One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Woah woah woah. Jason doing a post on Wolf Children, so that's what he's been up to.

Regarding the tank action is Girls und Panzer, it's pretty safe to say that there's no possible way that they could have produced those same scenes using traditional animation, at least for a TV production from 2012. Not only was there a huge volume of mechanical objects engaging in action but the camera work would have been hugely taxing in traditional animation, especially the 1st person sequences or any sequence with a lot of moving background art.

Of course, that's not to say that PS1 cutscene level graphics are acceptable or anything, but just that this was only this show was ever going to get made with those same shots.

Wow, the ultimate feel good show. Somehow strike witches in tanks became eyeshield 21 in tanks; mad props to the staff. Had the last two episodes been presented as they were now, last year, I think I'd have put it even higher in whatever my aoty votes were. Also, some of those cuts at the end . . . one step closer to the bright CG future. That
360 drift finish
was so swag.
Adding Strike witches name into it is a insult to GuP. GuP put strike witches and uprotte to shame and have shown how to do girls with weapons.

I see my friends are slowly warming up to the future. I hope my army can keep marching on in Spring with the next Yoshida-CG-action vehicle!

I don't even know why I read blogsuki, if the post doesn't piss me off than the comments will.

Yet, for a movie with no ingenuity or innovation, it won the 12th Tokyo Anime Awards’ Animation of the Year award, among many other accolades. Meanwhile, other movies with more deeper, unique concepts didn’t even get a mention.

Wait, I know now. :/

They did ditch that scrolling ground texture from the beginning of the show. The CG work as a whole improved, I think - some of the stuff at the end of this episode, I don't think they could have done earlier in the production.

Strike Witches > GuP

GuP had bad character designs and Majestic Prince does as well, I see a pattern here.

I understand there's a posibility there might be a legitimately good show somewhere in Strike Witches, but pantlessness being completely normal and the entire cast being adolescent girls is, I think, beyond my comfort line.

So I get the feeling I should watch Girls und Panzer.

The questionable practices of safety and physics does drive you to drink though. Ignoring that makes it a great show.

Ah yes. We use live ammo, but we practice safety. Then every other team captain sticks head out of tank and team scrub flees the tank while it is being fired upon. No one gets any disciplinary action.

I think you just have to throw that kind of consideration out the window. Tankery is a sport. Explosions are exciting, not deadly. The only thing that endangers drivers is water.

So it was a 2D platformer this whole time.

Then you're coming to the right place.

I think I liked that gif better out of context, when I thought it was a solitary female recoiling at horror of the military industrial complex propaganda as her classmates bought into it. Then it just turns out to be fairly mundane.

What an impressive ending for the show. I was really pleasantly surprised with how the show saw the main character's arc through while managing to give the cast at large a chance to shine. All of this happened while GuP got a little emotional without ever dwelling on anything or feeling heavy handed, meaning the series could accomplish what it wanted to while maintaining its very affable and unique tone.

Mind you that I have not yet seen ALL Gundam shows, here is my Gundam hierarchy:

TOPEST TIER OF GUNDAM:

Mobile Fighter G Gundam

Next best things:
Mobile Suit Gundam
Gundam SEED

Mostly Good Gundam shows:
Gundam Wing
The 08th MS Team

The Worst Gundam Shows:

Gundam SEED Destiny
Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory
Gundam 00

The Single Worst Mecha Anime I have Ever Seen:

Gundam AGE.

Mobile Fighter God Gundam 32

MY GUNDAM IS A BIRD. YOUR ARGUMENT IS INVALID.

So while I was before hesitant to really include G Gundam with the other series, I most certainly am not anymore. Why should it be seen as different? The villain of the tournament arc has the exact same goal that most major Gundam villains have: Dominance of Earth and its surrounding Space. He is, as were Zabi, Zala, and Ezelcant Flit, a man from the Space Colonies. He's got cockamamy schemes and evil Gundams and an army of varyingly sympathetic and despicable underlings. Burning/God Gundam isn't much different from any of the other mid-season upgrade Gundams. Schwarz Bruder is a hilarious Char, literally emerging from shadows, with a hidden agenda of his own (Master Asia freaked out when he saw his face.) There's an annoying girl hanging on our hero nobody cares about (Allenby) Domon is certainly more hotblooded than the likes of Heero and Setsuna, and a little smarter than guys like Kira and Amuro, but just like them, he's gathered his True Companions piloting their Custom mecha.

Oh sure, this show has GIANT BUFFALO Gundam, but hey, it's not any stupider than the fifteen thousand "THIS TIME FOR SURE" Gundam-Killer Mobile Armors in the series. And so it gives me great pleasure to announce that G Gundam is the best damn Gundam ever.

Seed had a good story but a horrible cast(kira yamoto especially). Seed Destiny was actually also good until it turns into shit the last 15 episodes when Jesus shows up at every battle lol. I have yet to see the original Gundam and others, the one I'll never watch is AGE, I mean we all have seen kids controlling robots but in AGE they look exceptionally young to control them.

Haganai NEXT 11

I'm not expecting the TV series to end the story. Pretty sure it's just going to lead into the next novel.
Well usually I would agree but they have gone so fast trough all the light novels that I thought that they are going for anime original ending. Well hopefully you are right. I have really enjoyed Haganai. This second season has been billion times better than the first.

I don't know what you mean by this. Can you explain?

What's gatai action? I don't know the term.
Right typo, it's meant to be gattai which means combine and is thrown around in this instance to describe the squid bunny combo attack. (and whenever people combine in anime)

As for the cat mouse play line I borrowed it from SDBurton's review from episode 9 or so because it fits the interactions between Haruka and her 'toy'.

Higurashi 26 fin

Well it got interesting towards the end, but the show itself was pretty boring. Oyashiro sama's curse, the way the episodes were set, a new chapter every 5-6 episode made me lose interest and after a pause of 4 months I just recently found the courage to finish watching it. it failed as a horror/thriller. Not recommending due to the tedious pacing and plot.

Score: 2/10

Will I watch the ova and sequel? Yes, I like to watch everything from a show no matter how bad it was for completions sake.

This show actually deals with Unit 731. You have no idea how pleased I am.

I like how this episode snuck in a visual metaphor about science to add some subtext to its exposition.

Jexhius may have been right; because of some of the longer detours this show takes, I think I may have forgotten some important details about Kinuko that are vital to the stuff going on now. I think I've got a handle on things, but it's a little confusing. Eno's habit of jumping about three logical steps ahead in every conversation makes life harder than it needs to be. But that's part of what makes him fun to watch. Most detectives like that would say, "And how did I know that, you ask?" and then fill in the blanks, but Eno just charges full speed ahead. His conversations are like his driving. He doesn't care whether or not we're comfortable going at his pace.

Maybe I'm shallow, but when this episode did a burning-film transition into a film-reel flashback, I creamed my jeans. For a show with moderate budget and CG cars, it's always had a lot of visual creativity.

The plotlines that are moving forward now are the ones that I've been the most interested in since the early episodes of the show. I'll be watching the next episode shortly.

For someone who keeps claiming to be part of the CG future you haven't put your money where your mouth is. You only have a few hours to put your name down on the #TeamCG poll.

I have seen the CG future, and it definitely does not look like that. :(

It's... unique.

Well, that was a lot of information. That episode was practically wall-to-wall exposition. About events that I had almost forgotten. Good thing I could go back to Jexhius's exhaustive recap of events through Episode 5 and get back up to speed. I had totally forgotten who Suzuki was.

iOAqVTygt1VMt.jpg

The quick cuts in this rotating shot emphasize all the different perspectives in the room, illustrating the truth of Kyougokudou's insight.

All the pieces of the puzzle are rapidly being assembled before our eyes. Parts of this episode do a great job of complementing Kyougokudou's speech, as usual. I guess I can point to a few parts that impressed me. But it's hard for me to comment on the mystery as a whole, since there's an important element of this puzzle that still has to be explained next episode.

i3DaEas3QRvl4.jpg

There's some significance in the cavernous nature of the lab. It fills the entire screen here.

I liked how as soon as Kyougokudou started explaining things, Kiba immediately said, "Get to the point!" Fat chance, buddy.

I need to spend some more time thinking about what mouryou are so that I can have some quality analysis ready for when the series is over.
