Huh, you guys didn't take the bait and jump over to that OT thread.

Times really have changed. We aint invading the Off Topic anymore!

Also, of course, all the individual OT's appear to be doing their jobs correctly.
Making it impossible for me to follow impressions for these shows without fearing spoilers? (especially on Manga based anime) if so yeah!

Perhaps it's another sign we've grown a little. Anime ending style.

Why are skirts so short in anime, yet girls still freak out when their panties are seen. You'd think they got used to it after wearing skirts all their lives. And would dudes still get nosebleeds if panties aren't such a rare sight?

It's like seeing boxers from sagging thug people.
Sounds like a question about swimsuits and underwear.

Dat SDBurton...

And Kumojacky in dat loincloth...

And those yukatas...

But still, I said this before (don't remember what for, probably Futari wa), but sparklers are FUCKING LAME AS SHIT! Don't say fireworks unless you've got some power in there. Not stupid-ass sparklers. God sparklers suck so much ass.

The only thing I don't like about the ED is that it's almost too good. It sometimes almost feels like I'm waiting for the episode to end so I can listen to it.

Most school uniform skirts don't seem that short. The ones from K however, you can see their butts just hanging out!

This should have its own |OT|

The subtitle could be "How my teacher is trying to help me get out of the Friendzone".

Because they want to be able to get married, duh.

If you hadn't followed the development of the project, this video wouldn't tell you anything about what Kickheart is about. At all. It's kind of a jumble of interesting images and ideas that might interest you further if you liked the designs but beyond that it doesn't sell itself or explain itself one iota.
According to ANN, this video is advertising an actual premiere event, which may be the reason it's not a trailer selling itself very hard.

Now you're asking the hard questions.

Answer: because the animators like to draw girls and they'd rather draw the girls in short skirts.

Does this make otherwise innocuous works a little bit creepy? Yes, yes it does.

Truth. I've spent entire afternoons looking at sakuga MADs. The channel that is linked above is prettry good btw. It's where I found MADOX 01 and other things.

Been there, done that, and yet I'm still rubbishing at recognising specific animators. It's easy enough to see when a different animator is animating a different cut (assuming that they're talented, of course) but beyond that I struggle.

Pretty interesting MAKING OF for Little Witch Academia:

http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/english/tv/imagine/arch.html
It's in English, so watch it. It's supposed to be for Anime Mirai as a whole, but they focused on LWA for obvious reasons.
Finally! Thanks for the heads-up, 7Th!

Now I remember no one answered me on that day (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=52510410&postcount=4777)...

:-(

I'm sure many of you kind inject some interesting and lively debate into this thread So is Spirited Away the best animated film?: http://neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=541530
I don't have an opinion, but even if I did I would always leave instead to the actual experts, the creators, all the talk about these matters:

Nishikata Film Review: Laputa’s Top 150 Japanese and World Animation (2003)
http://nishikataeiga.blogspot.com/2010/10/laputas-top-150-japanese-and-world.html

This could somewhat be seen as rigged for being too complacent towards attendant, speaker (http://www.laputa-jp.com/laf2003/bulletin/bulletin4.html) and overall usual collaborator of the festival Yuriy Norshteyn, but I don't think I can fault them for those results!

It's more comfortable in here...
and RatskyWatsky said all it needs to be said there, really.

It depends on the animator. Some animators have more distinct styles than others. For example, Ohira's work tends to stick out a lot.

[JoJo's OVA's'] - 1

I've already seen these two OVA's many times over, however I've never jumped into them off the back of actually experiencing 'traditional' JoJo. Therefore it seemed like a good idea to see how they look when examined from a new perspective.

As others have already said, the most marked difference between JoJo's TV and this is tone. While the TV series had a number of extremely serious elements it always contained a certain sense of self-aware ridiculousness which considerably lightened what could have otherwise been fairly dark material.

Here the scenario is played extremely straight, as is the direction. There's no wacky cuts, reaction shots, silly expressions or over the top acting. It's all manly, gruff men doing badass stuff because they're tough. Now, some of this clearly has to do with the shift in protagonist because Jotaro is a rather difference figure to his grandfather. However, the tone of the episode is not just limited to the scenes involving him - all the scenes which occur without him maintain the same air to them. I don't think this is inherently a bad thing, because they achieve the dark, mysterious tone that they are going for. However, if you're looking for the light-hearted and more wacky stuff then I can see why this might be a turn-off.

Still, it's undeniably well made. The direction is solid, if unremarkable. The fight scene looks great and it features some really nice effects animation which really sell the
heat of Avdol's attack
. On that front this series delivers, and the follow set of OVA's blow this one out the water, so you've got that to look forward too as well.

That's great to hear, will watch more when I get home from work.

I'm really liking Ritsu right now, but anything can happen!

Ritsu's not a bad choice either. Though out of Mitsu I still think you will end up liking Mio more, at least when you get to season 2.
Or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

Slam Dunk 96-99

The training for the Inter High championship continues, thanks to Sakuragi and his freshman friend(forgot his name lol) from Ryonan their training becomes an exhibition game against the best players from Ryonan and Shojo, they're literally the dream team of Kanagawa, star players like Sendo, Fujima and Uozumi. Uozumi actually gave up basketball to become a chef -promised that to his dad-, when he was asked to play in the practice game he didn't wan to, but in the end showed up.

Unlike the others this match feels 'rushed', usually the games can take up 10 episodes give or take, making them at times very tedious.

Anyway..... this show is almost over... I wanted to see Shohuku compete in the national championship! :( :( :(

lol Sakuragi always playing with coach Anza

We don't want little girls who watch this cartoon to blow their heads off with actual fireworks.

He shaved his head in episode 84. But come on RT, you started to dislike it just after they played Kainan, the best game of the show? :/
It was a joke post. I've been stuck in the mid-70s for two years now. The matches are horrendously dragged out, and there's only so much "RUKAWA YOU JERK/I'M THE MVP" shenanigans I can endure.

That guy from Tsubomi's old town who had a crush on her was such a buttweanie. I thought it was funny how he thought Itsuki was her boyfriend, though.

I actually thought this was one of the best episodes yet. I loved the story about Tsubom's grandma and grandpa and the garden of lavenders. Made for a great ending to the episode too. And as much of a buttweanie as Mitsuru was, it was sweet how he hung onto the music box that Tsubomi lost when she left.

I like how everybody who meets Sasorina says, "Ah, a weird person!" or something to that effect.

Yeah, same. It gives me greater respect for someone when I see them talking about the nuances of an animators style that are giveaways in scenes.

That k-on poster in the movie thread brought uo something I have noticed in some of these anime were the girls are trying to be portrayed cute. Why are there knees bent like that and point inward (maybe just kyoani thing). Wish I could find a gif for it.
