Macross SDF - 09

Oh my god that Miss Macross footage were so dated, I can't watch it with straight face. The Zentraedi can't understand they having bonner just make it funnier.

Oh, okay, I feel silly for not realising that Cardcaptor Sakura was directed by Morio Asaka that directed: Gunslinger Girls, Nana and Chihayafuru among many other titles. Madhouse are lucky they've still got talent like him under their roof.

I haven't really seen enough of his works to pick up on any obvious directorial quirks. He's not quite as easy to spot as a Dezaki, an Ikuhara or a Hosoda. Perhaps if I consume more titles from his catalogue it'll become clearer. One that that's immediately clear is that he's a very tasteful director, I can't really recall any pandering or fanservice in works that he's put out but as there's so much I haven't seen it could well exist.

The only people who think the CCS manga is better than the anime are the hipsters who just have to have a different opinion and/or people who haven't seen the anime.

You just going to take that lying down, Keiichi, or are you going to substantiate your earlier points via argument?

Your honour is on the line!

Well, most people i know who prefer the anime haven't even read the manga. :p

The anime completely lefts out a lot of story points in the endings.

This is factually incorrect.
CCS needs that music and animation.
The Cute had to be realized in its true form.

'Your saying this isn't "cute"?

Its a good thing I've read it then. So I can say the anime is so much better its not funny!

Saying that the anime skipped some parts of the manga is different from saying the manga better unless you're one of those manga purists. In that case, no anime adaptation will ever be good enough for you.

Nothing they skipped hurt the anime anyway. The anime had a story to tell and they stuck to it.

Slam Dunk 85-93

Regional tournaments are over, Shohuku finished 2nd behind Kainan, its now time to train for the national Inter High tournament. The team goes on train camp and plays exhibition games against another team who made it to the nationals. Except for Sakuragi, he stays with coach Anza to get special training. Sakuragi has come a long way, he is good at rebounds and dunks but sucks at throws, and thats what they'll be training. During the course of 1 week he has to shoot 20000 times, which he does, he is a fast learner and amazes everyone when he shows off his newly acquired skills.

Pretty interesting MAKING OF for Little Witch Academia:

http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/engli...gine/arch.html

It's in English, so watch it. It's supposed to be for Anime Mirai as a whole, but they focused on LWA for obvious reasons.
OMG that narrator voice haha.
Some interesting stuff. Dat Yoshinari slap.

Edit:

School Days 03
Sekai > Kotonoha. Also more Makoto being an idiot. A shame for all other awesome Makotos in anime.
Also we get more hints of what seems to be the formation of a harem of sorts.

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
Kamen Rider OOO 1-14

(It's basically live action anime. Shut up. Plus there's all of like five people in TokuGAF, so meh.)

A bit more that 1/4 of the way through the series now, and I'm enjoying it. Definitely not as much as W, but it's still quite good. The high point of the show thus far for me has been Ankh. The dynamic between him and Eiji/Kamen Rider OOO is great. Ankh SHOULD be Eiji's enemy, yet working with him is the only way he'll ever be able to regain his own body, so he grudgingly helps him out by providing him with the OOO Driver and Core Medals he needs to transform. Plus I think I might have a bit of a mancrush on Ryosuke Miura. Stop being so pretty, Japanese dudes.

Eiji himself isn't nearly as interesting or just plain cool a protagonist as either Shotaro or Philip were in W (especially Shotaro), but I'm warming up to him. He does seem a bit one-dimensional so far ("I just want to do what's right and help people!"), but I'm sure he'll develop as the show goes on.

The supporting cast is great, too. Hina is way less annoying of a female lead than Akiko was in W (though I didn't hate her as much as some did). And I absolutely have to mention Kougami as well, who steals (and chews up) every scene he's in. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

So yeah, OOO is pretty good so far. I'm sure it won't top W or Blade in my book, but I'm still going to enjoy the hell out of it.

K. Thanks to Articalys' help I figured out how to make my thingy a survey so you guys can do this anonymously. This would greatly help with my research for a class and on my paper so if you guys can answer this to the best of your ability and honestly, it'd help a lot. Thanks.

Quoting one last time. Thanks guys.

The anime completely lefts out a lot of story points in the endings.

That's specifically a reason why it's different to the manga, but not necessarily a reason why it's worse, though. Although history often suggests otherwise, differing from a manga doesn't necessarily make something bad - infact, there's a number of clear examples purely restricted to CLAMP works (mostly thinking of Angelic Layer here) where the anime is both wildly different and most certainly superior.

Cutie Honey is, if anything, proto magical girl rather than magical girl itself.

Somewhat like how Urusei Yatsura is proto-harem.

Ultimately the distinction needs to be made between a female superhero show and what constitutes a traditional magical girl show. Granted, the lines start kinda fuzzy and then become blurred beyond recognition later on, but such a distinction remains meaningful.

What would the argument for Cutey Honey to not be a magical girl show be? If we go by "source of the powers of the heroine", Cutey Honey isn't any different from Corrector Yui or Nanoha. If we go by "the way in which the heroine fights", Honey is fairly similar to Precure and Nanoha (again). If we go by target audience, Honey fits right in with Uta Kata and Nanoha (I'm abusing this example). Hell, you can even compare it to shows like Minky Momo and Akko-chan due to Honey using her powers to change shape and take different "jobs".

Technically speaking, Cutie Honey is an android.

And Nanoha is fake magical girl anyway.

What I meant was, it should start with yes/no questions for those which basically have a yes/no answer, so people are guided along to know what sort of preferences you're trying to filter, then you expand on that with the more detailed questions. Surveys are kinda psychological in nature, and starting off with a question which requires a detailed answer can sometimes result in lower quality answers because people don't want to put in so much effort immediately at the start.

It's like how examinations usually start with a MCQ, before going into essay questions! Pacing. :)

I'd do it. Idk how to change the current survey to fit that. If I'm doing another survey I'll try and do this next time. I'm so fail....
