Heartcatch Precure 28

I don't think I've ever seen such an amazing summer homework episode in anything. Goddamn, this episode was so great. Erika was on fucking FIRE throughout. Unquestionably her best episode yet. Ice cream for breakfast, that little angle/devil dynamic, her in the library, her during the long battle with the children Desertrians...just wow. On her game the whole time.

Cobraja telling the kids watching the show that he'll come for them if they don't start doing their homework got a kick out of me too. And then Coffret pooping out all those heart seeds and then being passed out on the bed at the end...definitely one of the top five episodes so far, at least for me. Soooooooooooo good.

Slam Dunk movie 3

This movie comes after the breathtaking Kainan match, Shohuku is challenged by a newly formed team called Ryofuku, this also marks the debut of the shaven Sakuragi. Anzai sensei accepts the challenge, he sees this as an opportunity to regain confidence. Ryofuku are formed by great players, including an American Japanese(or is it Japanese American, dunno) who trained in the USA. Its probably because of this guy Rukawa wants to go to America to train, but the coach rejects it. One of his former students did the same and he became a total flop.

The match was exciting, Shohuku were getting beat up badly, but as Ayako noted, their biggest opponent was not Ryofuku but themselves, the Kainan match was still in their minds. They eventually get their shit together thanks to Kogure, who inspires his team mates after giving everything and breaking his glassess. Ofcourse, once they got their shit together, they win by a point.

Kogure...

It's slow, particularly in the first half, but I don't think it's boring. But it is a very talky show, and I can see how that style and pacing might not work for some people. There's a lot of suspense and questions about what exactly is up with certain things, and I felt like that made it a really exciting show to watch and try and figure out what was going on.
There was something that always bothered me about .hack//Sign before I nailed it down which was "Why do most of the characters just wander around doing nothing much when there's stuff going down" before I rationalized it as well, you're an average joe player with no knowledge of how the game works but you're wanting to find out why weird stuff is happening so what else can you do but wander around looking for it?

I think Sign has some problems with it's pacing but it's still a pretty good series and man did I love how it hooked up with the start of infection. One day I will start G.U.

Are we talking per episode or total? Because it's probably Sailor Moon if it's the latter.
Overall. It's not hard for any random series to cram a bunch of funny expressions into any single episode, but it's more impressive to do so consistently.

I suppose it could be credited more to particular directors or animators, though.

The post-SatoJun seasons maintain the same level of expressiveness?

I see the poorly researched Hito FUD has reached you too...

SatoJun had the exact same role in the entire Doremi franchise: "Chief Director" (what Shinbo does for every single Shaft show, basically); he never left that spot. The actual "Series Director" was always Takuya Igarashi.

Speaking of FUD, Umakoshi does not get credit for Satou doing the same character stuff he has in other shows.

Fraud character designer.

Also, does Satou actually do episodes past s1? No, he doesn't.

Ok, he did one episode.

Well, it's not as if he was the only great director involved in the series. Starting from season 2, Doremi has a consistent stream of Yamauchi episodes! Including "the greatest anime episode of all time" according to firehawk12.

Been working my way through Bakemonogatari

Watched Tsubasa Cat last night.

Just what is it about catgirls, that is attractive? Is it purely their flirty nature as normally depicted? Or does me being a cat person make me predisposed to liking catgirls. I've certainly never thought humanoid dogs were ever cool. Not that I hate dogs, just that normally they are pretty meh.

Again another interesting story. And did not expect a date episode in the middle of it like that. Which I liked. And I must say I like Hitagi, from the outside at least. Don't think I could handle dating her myself.
