I mean, thinking she died served as a motivator to have him act and after such a shock, he won't waste an occasion knowing that at any moment the person he loves could disappear forever, right? Nope, fucking wrong. Haurto is the usual wimpy ass main character and because of something stupid he fucks it up of his own accord and then tells us the reason why he did it, which is totally, 100% idiotic.

I don't know what's going on in that show, but for mobile phone signal you need minimal obstruction (for radio) between the two ends and have them at a distance that the signal strength doesn't reduce too much (1/d^2).
Time lag is also an issue but tolerances may vary.
All the other ridiculous shit in the episode aside...somehow that didn't bother me too much, in retrospect.
He already was the usual kind of main character in his default state, so I wasn't surprised by his
getting the urge to back off upon cooling down and realizing the mess he just went through. There's really no good explanation for his lolvampire healing/bodyswitching powers, which are rather inhuman as the rival character blatantly pointed out.
Not a very smart conclusion, of course, but I don't really consider him a smart character either.

the beginning with Kasuga running around with the bag in his arms was even more pathetically hilarious than it was in the manga, but that paled in comparison to just how domineering Nakamura comes off as, especially in that scene.

All I remember was it was the early nineties and Mulder and Scully had cell phones that worked everywhere. Also your cellphone technotalk has reminded me of when I took the classes to be a Ham Radio operator.
Fun fact: I am a licensed Ham Radio Operator. This is literally the least useful skill I can think of.
Well ham radio was kind of a neat thing before the existence of the internet.
This was the thinking behind the acquisition of the skill, except that Ham Radio requires a tower for anything over a certain distance and depending upon the Apocalypse, towers won't be in operation.
The class tries to make it sound cool with stuff about how you can talk to Astronauts and accidentally cook your neighbors organs, but to be entirely honest, most of my experience has just been checking in to the emergency preparedness group my Church has going. I think the E-Prep Ham group has done something like, a grand total of one time and I don't think I was in the area when that stuff went down.

So much CG in these episodes. Not the strong point of the show. Thankfully, I think there's no CG in TSR. Whatever the case, this episode is neat 'cuz it has Tessa prove she can do more than just sit in her chair and order missile launches. Also a close up on Gauron's super creepy eyeball.

Sadly, the stupidity in this is pretty pedestrian and doesn't inspire any of the gleeful incredulity of genuinely entertaining "so bad it's good" shows. Doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Geass; it's a self-serious and unambitious rehash of mecha tropes with a (thus-far) sole defining gimmick.

The visuals on this show can be such a mixed bag. On the one hand, the saturated, colorful drawn backgrounds are beautiful, and certain scenes, such as the negotiation at sunset, display a gorgeous harmony of cinematography, visual effects, and art. On the other hand, the CGI is all pretty horrendous. The ocean looks like a PS1 FMV cutscene most of the time; I wish the future of anime would stop pissing uncontrollably all over the place.
As for the content of the episode itself, it was good. It was a pretty believable depiction of a standoff situation, and the way that
was surprisingly ruthless.

Grabbed the Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet First Fan Book, featuring a bunch of Naruko Hanaharu character designs, and a ton of mechanical art work. It's really quite fantastic for something that only ran me 1,000 yen.

There are some really cool pieces of art explaining the functions behind each of the main ships, as well as how the whole formation is laid out and why. The whole thing is super detailed, and it's surprising how well thought out the logistical side of it is. Really great stuff.

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam 22
BWAHAHAHA Dude, this Pope Timus Sriracha guy is like, the creepy love child of Char and Garma. I mean, he like, is coming on to ERRYBODY on this boat. LAWL. And if Fa died right now, I would so be over her. Such a lame character. Emma, on the other hand, is a boss among bosses. Zeta Gundam looks like a cool fusion of the Freedom and Aile Strike, which means those two are probably more like references to this.
I kinda like the progression of mecha in this show. As in, there's a clear, defined progress from the Gundam to the MK. II to the Zeta. Which allows me to put into context why people hated Nina Purpleton's Gundams (which she loved more than Kou but less than last-minute Gato) because they make no technological sense as 4 year predecessors to the stuff in this show, which I feel could be more believably developed in the eight years between MSG and Zeta.
And the music in this show always reminds me of Super Mario Galaxy.

Well, one is simply a crossreferencing of data input and historical records, the other is triangulation across intergalactic distances.
I'm thinking they don't have ansibles.
Also, as a spacefaring race I'm sure they've encountered more than their share of primitive tribes (even if they're only humans) where such speech analysis was necessary.

It shouldn't be that hard though. They obviously have maps of the galaxy, if us primitive 20th-century earthlings can figure out the layout of the galaxy just from looking at the stars I'm pretty sure an advanced AI could do it.

I don't remember what the show says about its setting, but are we sure the place where Red comes from is in the Milky Way? I mean, they used a bullshit wormhole-like "rip on the space-time continuum" to take him from the war to the Earth, it could be anywhere.

One other thing I want to mention about this episode is that I'm impressed they managed to get a post-coital image into a kids' show.

A shame that it'll probably revert back to the incredibly boring as fuck parade of pointless self-indulgent internal monologues for every single fucking person sitting in the same fucking room where a Karuta match is going down.

After the ending I couldn't go to sleep. I literally had nightmares just thinking about it and trying to fall asleep. Ugh.
