Another nice episode, though not climactic like the last one.
Lots of nice little character bits in what was a break episode between matches.
I really do love Shinobu. not sure why. Maybe its purely her attitude.
Really looking forward to next episode to see how much the various things in this episode distract the players from their game.

Sunshine is definitely the most otaku Jewel Pet series; I mean:
it has TWINCEST, one of the girls is in love with the old butler guy and the dominatrix headmaster marries the dolphin.
Every single thing I read about it is insane. This is not a dream sequence, this is something that actually happens on the show.
I still can't help but laugh it Yui's interpretation of a "White Christmas" when her and Ui were kids. So sweet and adorable.
It's not that I really like Azusa, but just her introduction and entry into the group provided some really funny moments. I was going to say Nodoka has gotten some competition for Yui's heart, but from what you said in your spoiler looks like I have more to look forward to.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 1-26
Pretty good. I can see why this is considered a classic. It had its up and downs and there was a noticeable inconsistency in the art. There was also the fact that, for the majority of the series, there was a startling lack of weight. Only the really SAKUGA moments managed to convey the mass of the characters. For all its flaws though, it was highly enjoyable and memorable.
Tachikomas are the broest of bros that ever did bro.

Highschool of the Dead 1
Kind of intense start and probably as a whole. I was nearly on the verge of looking away or closing my eyes every time the zombies would go in for the bite...its just too much blood at times. Though I imagine Ill probably still watch it, with some reservations, as it is also on the neon alley. Anyway why so much panty shots, it was kind of way excessive, unbelievable, and just really pointless ruining the suspense and dire situation they were trying to establish for the atmosphere and environment of the anime. It was difficult to take anything Rie said seriously because of it and even just aggravating to me and made me just quite angry at her character, not that she didn't already instill anger due to plot.
Liked the moment of the city at the top of the school, the city streets, and when helicopters flew by.

Why they kill off the main character like that, Hisashi was really epic and cool personality, calm, and collected and was really stunning in taking initiative and even getting himself some kills. I thought we'd get some really good best friend moments with him and Takashi, but now, well ugh. That tragic end was just too intense because of it, flashbacks will make up for it, I hope. Having to be a martyr and take the hit for Rie's incompetence and lack of any concern for her own life was offensive and annoying. She ought to have died in his place instead, would have been a much better written episode.

There's something I really can't stand about this show, but it isn't the characters (
). The main three are such a colossal mess, albeit Yui less so and for a different reason, that how they act in normal situations is amazing.
This show bugs me. But I enjoy it.
edit: I think I understand my conflict. It's that I want it to be less of a romantic comedy, or a "romance" anime or "comedic" anime (in an attempt to be more precise, I'm speaking of the more "hokey" elements of Love Come like Hikigaya hitting himself with the ball and getting smashed with the racquet at the end), and more of an anime about fucked up high school kids being fucked up but in slice-of-life type ways.
You watched Episode 5, now there is no turning back.
There's something I really can't stand about this show, but it isn't the characters (
besides the part where the only thing I got from the trap character was that....he's a trap and that's it. Somehow I still feel cheated by the "Will you do it with me?" BS
Hikigaya about ready to, what I assume was, beg for use of the court was astounding. And even better were his nasty remarks to that hotshot guy that he played against. It was unbelievably pathetic ("Can't you just let me have this tennis court?"), just like his repeated social-darwinist strategizing to social situations.
And on the flip side you have Yukinoshita, who is excessively proud and catches herself referring to Yui as a friend. They may not even be "real" friends at this point!
Yui, who seemed to make some progress last episode, still struggles to assert herself, but makes good faith efforts to reach out to Yukinoshita and Hikigaya. I wonder why she couldn't tell the blonde bitch with the twin drills to shut up, but perhaps she still wants to be her friend on some level.
But that's what makes them so awesome. Their personalities are so extreme; but they have great traits underneath that. Yukinoshita's warped personality hides a sort of idealism and determination to push herself. Her excessive self esteem allows her to tear into Yui's friend. Hikigaya, like he pointed out to himself on the first episode, shares a similar sort of honesty with himself: one immensely tainted by his immaturity and teenaged misanthropy, but he struggles to do anything that is perceivably a sincere gesture of affection, unlike Yukinoshita's defense of Yui/attack on her friend. Yui's people-pleasing just has two sides on the coin, but at least she manages to be honest with herself (when wondering about how "close" Hikigaya and Yukinoshita are) even if she can't do it with some of her friends.

One other thing I want to mention about this episode is that I'm impressed they managed to get a post-coital image into a kids' show.
(Interspecies romance before Hosoda made it mainstream!)

First half of this episode wasn't very exciting; we found out that the tremors underground were being caused by the gunmen (and further establishing a motive for Simon to hate them), we discovered what powers the Lagann, and we witnessed Kamina's respect for his father. The visuals were also notably diminished since the last episode, but...
The second half however, was more of the insane fighting that made such an impact in the first episode. I don't know how anyone can watch that sort of insane animation that Gainax is now known for and not be entertained. Interested to see how they will up the ante in terms of ridiculousness.
Onward to more~

Shit begins anew. Princess Kreahe is back, motherfuckers. Moreover, it seems the main plot of this season was actually set up last season when Kraehe corrupted Mytho's love shard. Now Mytho's got some Jekyll & Hyde dynamic going on, evidenced by his malicious cutting up of Mr. Cat's ballet shoes given to him by the world-famous Mr. Meowzinsky. This season is gonna be interesting.
I've never quite figured out if this girl is supposed to be Duck's friend.
