It's also harder to find. Other than the yaoi that gets animated and turned into real anime, most of it is just porn of some sort or another. And hey, I watched both versions of Queer as Folk, so I don't have a problem with sex, but the porny nature of yaoi means that there's pretty much no story beyond the Japanese equivalent of a pizza boy showing up and accepting sex from the lonely housewife in lieu of a tip.

I mean that pretty much comes from the territory of how things are classified.

Sure there are some series where the whole point isn't just them doing it, but that wouldn't be as common especially if it starts hitting the shounen-ai area.

Of course you could always just check the rating for doujins to see the potential ratio of porn to not porn.

If you're honestly trying to rag on girls tribing and saying that guys putting it in each other's asses is better then holy shit. :lol
I'm saying it's the same!

Well, there's also the fact that the groups who are so inclined to approach this material are more focused on the sexy-time more than anything else. The yuri groups tend to be more balanced inasmuch as they will work on the smut as well as the Shimura/Otsu/Takemura stuff.

Well it is also probably also that the smut is more popular and hence gets more focus for reasons.

I'm sure there's lots of groups that don't do only smut, not that I can name any of them.

Coming off Joseph, all JoJos suck with the possible exception of Jolyne, who doesn't suck as bad.

To be fair, the OVAs cut out a lot of Jotaro's fights. I think Polnareff actually had more in the anime by the time it was over for some asinine reason. Should have called it Polnareff's Bizarre Adventure.
If there's something the world needs, it is more Polnareff.

Well, if we sort of accept the fact that there are more female manga readers than male manga readers, it sort of makes sense as well.

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam 49

Katz is the Scrappy Doo of Zeta Gundam, which I guess shouldn't be surprising, since Those Damn Kids are the worst thing Gundam ever gave to the genre. DEAR MECHA WRITERS: PUTTING THREE HORRIBLE, ANNOYING CHILDREN ON YOUR BOAT IS A BAD IDEA. IT MIGHT BE AN HOMAGE TO MSG, BUT IT WAS AWFUL, EVEN THEN. JUST PLEASE STOP DOING IT.

And here's another bad influence Zeta had on things: Why is one mobile suit able to take out an entire battleship? The Radish is COVERED in guns and shields and stuff and Browless Joe just blows it up? This is why you have Kira and Heero laying waste to colonies later in the series, man. There's no reason why one fighter should be able to take down a battleship. Especially not one that's already been beaten up in a fight.

I'd just like to point out, though, that everyone who died aboard the Radish died because Katz is a jerk ass who NEVER EVER listened to orders. If he had even ONCE stopped being such a little shithead, goodness knows how many people could have not died right there. But people are still gonna cry for him, and not the crew of the Radish, that he selfishly murdered today.

HO DAYUM LT. EMMA IS BEST GIRL. "Everyone cried when those two died, but I don't think anyone will shed a tear for you when you die, Rekkua!"

Oh and also, GOOD GOD THEY DO NOT CALL HIM KILL 'EM ALL TOMINO FOR NOTHIN. I can't even count the number of deaths in this episode alone.

I'll be your aidoru coachi, Mad Pierrot-chan.

Well, I look at it this way - the men in bear culture is pretty much the antithesis of what most women find (or are taught to find) attractive.

Which is why Kevin Smith likes to joke about how his bear friend went from being rejected by women over and over again to find a new guy to hook up with once he came out. lol

Naw, look at the yaoi today. The female-created stuff is still super thin pretty boys gently going down on each other and such.

That said, I have no idea what the bear culture is like in Japan or in Asia, since Asians seem to be both muscle and fat phobic, so who knows. If real world men in ni-chome actually look like manga/anime yaoi protagonists, I think I would be massively disappointed anyway. lol

It just seemed to be the take home message from a con last weekend about it and perceptions of the industry.

Well I mean there are some that are basically like a mix between yaoi and bara. Not crazy in muscles but also not bear either.

Those are the most acceptable.

All this talk reminds me of a stand-up segment of Louie I saw last night, where he talks about how gay guys make sense, because they have something to stick into, but with lesbians it's just two holes.

MJP 7

I don't really get it so this "alien" race is actually
human
? Either way this was set up for a pretty epic battle next episode (hopefully).

Valvrave 6

Wonder how much longer it'll take for the other 3 Valvrave to get pilots. Great fight and looking forward to seeing the confrontation between "former" friends.

That last death. I don't even. Holy balls of fire. WHY. WHY? WHAT WAS EVEN THE REASON? I guess at least they excelled at portraying the feel of senseless violence? Tomino was just like, "Screw it, after making this cast live out the same 5 scenarios ten times, I don't know what to do with them, SO I WILL KILL EVERYONE. THAT'S RIGHT, NOBODY LIVES."

Words cannot convey how thoroughly disappointed I am by this show. I went into Zeta Gundam with considerable hype, since people have ventured to call it the greatest of all Gundam shows, and for the first act, it was certainly a worthy successor to Mobile Suit Gundam, which was a really good show.

Then, once Four dies, the show dies with her. From that point on the viewer is subjected to random, aimless plodding through teenage drama and repeated, rehashed plots for more or less the rest of the series. It could perhaps best be described as "the plot moves, but nothing happens." Why was Four brought back and then dropped again in the space of the same episode? What was the point of Rosamy? How many times can Sarah escape from the Argama? How many times can Katz steal the G Defenser of Gundam or whatever he's stealing this weak? It's just an endless bout of these things time and time and time again, with no meaning given to them at all. Shit happens, but there's no rhyme or reason to it. The English VAs did not help, but this goes beyond that. Even Kamile, whose character was perhaps the best part of the show, does not escape this wretched mid-section alive. Then the ending comes, and rather than resolve the myriad meandering plots going on, Tomino just fucking kills everyone.

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam is not the worst Gundam show at all. Even at its worst, its better than the out-and-out actively awful levels of Destiny, Stardust, AGE and 00, but it is, without a doubt, the series that has disappointed me most. I didn't expect Stardust Memory or AGE to be good. I knew Destiny was so-so. I expected 00 to be good, yes, but Zeta I expected to be on par with its predecessor, and it simply is not. After that stellar first act, the show dips, and just as it starts to redeem itself, Tomino kills everyone and calls it a day.

Now, ZZ Gundam is next in the UC timeline, correct? Should I even watch that, or just skip to Char's Counterattack? Also, I really do hope Turn A and Unicorn are everything I've heard, because I need a reason to believe in Gundam again.
