Zouroku is the best character of the season without a doubt. Such a well written character outside of the "wise old man" tropes. Great dialogue between him Sana and the evil bitch in this episode...

Smuggest MC this season. Looking forward to more, and glad this is scheduled for 60 eps.

Yo what, this has an anime?? And 60 eps!?
I liked the webnovel quite a bit, although I'm only 170 chapters in so far.

Caught up on shit

Pokemon

Why does Ash need so many waifus? The little owl is so adorable, steals the show.
This show is good. So good that it actually makes me maybe consider the possibility of potentially actually playing a pokemon game again.

Monster Hunter

This Cheval going sith story-line was pretty good for a while but its gotten kind of ridiculous all of a sudden.

Digimon

Offmon is cute i suppose. Show is still fine but my interest is waning a little.

KiraKira Precure

Yep its a precure show alright.

Tiger Mask

Kevin did a styles clash. This show is truly phenomenal.

Still my favorite arc mostly coming down to how it feel realistic in a normal dating couple way. The ending is actually the same as the game best ending which still work well. You got to see Ai struggle of been alone by herself without her lover, Tachibana, and this is mostly because of how heretic both of their life with little time been together. Eventually, both find the time to be together and use it as much as they can with little time they have. Got to love the odd situation they put them self into near the end when the teacher saw them near the love hotel of the city. Overall, a good arc and still cement me a bit of the better arc of all if you want something somewhat realistic.

Yeah. It's also surprisingly good looking.

Probably the first Chinese animation show for me that's consistently good looking enough to compare with the shit Japan pushes out every season. Hope they can keep this up for 60 episodes.

The studio working on this kind of feels like they're trying ufotable techniques with less budget, but it looks good enough to compete with the Japanese stuff this season.

[Little Witch Academia TV] - 16

I can (somewhat) see where people are coming from with their critiques of this episode, but I don't feel the same way. As with the last string of episodes, I feel like this is actually part of the 'real' LWA TV series that actually feels crafted as opposed to just crapped out like the first cour.

What makes this particular 'wacky' adventure different to the kinds of adventures that Akko faced in the first cour of the series? Well, there's actually a number of important differences:

- Actual, serious stakes (perhaps outrageously serious stakes?)
- Akko isn't an idiot, she's actually coming up with ways to solve a problem
- Akko actually commits wholeheartedly to a task
- Akko experiences actual character growth
- Akko's is actually somewhat charming

I suppose you could just sum up the reason why this episode works by harping on the fact that the writing here actually works. In the first cour of the show, the characters would happen into some wacky situation that they needed to solve. But nothing about those situations, or the way they were resolved, meant anything for the characters. This isn't true here. In this episode, the way Akko handles the situation and how she experiences character growth is the actual point of the episode. Hurray!

I'm not saying that the episode is flawless. There's plenty of things to complain about:

- We visit Lotte's home and family but learn basically nothing about them. The scenario that has to be solved is basically incidental to the character's visiting Lotte's home. In a better show, these two things would actually be tied together.

- Speaking of Lotte, both her and Sucy are completely useless non-characters who show zero signs of character development. This is not only really boring, but completely inexcusable considering we are 16 episodes into the series! Side characters in Doremi get more fleshed out in a single episode than the supporting leads in this show!

- Akko's moment of self-doubt felt completely forced and unbelievable. It came from nowhere and went nowhere. It did not ring true to her character.

Still, basically a decent episode.

When Chinese animation become better than Japanese animation and when more audience want more of it over the Japanese is the day I will weep a bit.

I can't watch Chinese shows/Chinese Anime quite yet. It took years for Japanese to not sound silly and grating on my ears when watching cartoons. Now here comes Chinese funded Anime and cartoons and my brain can't put 2 and 2 together that it isn't supposed to be Japanese, and the way they speak is almost surreal when I keep expecting Japanese or English.

Maybe later down the line I can handle it. But if I can't even stand spanish dubs anymore for the most part, then I guess years of English and Japanese did it for me.

Hell, I could barely get used to db super in Japanese. I still don't quite like high pitched voices for every grown man in this show

Oh yes, budget Ufotable is a surprisingly good description, lol.
There's some very noticable out of place CG here (the crowds *cough*), but it looks pretty good in generel.
Hearing chinese is so strange though.

Quan Zhi Gao Shou - The King's Avatar 01

Ye Xiu is a pro player in the super popular MMORPG Glory. He gets kicked out of his team (because they're assholes) and has to hand them his account as well having to retire for a year until he is allowed to get back into the pro world.
Without money and a job, he starts working in an internet cafe. At the same time the 10th glory server opens and he starts from scratch with a new character, that uses a very specialised weapon and build.

Cue him getting underestimated, breaking records, being smug as fuck and teaching other players along the road.

Worth noting that this is not a Virtual Reality game, but a good old Mouse+Keyboard MMORPG.

I feel for this poor guy. He suffers from the most relatable problem of all.

Fucking people.

Other guy was basically the lead from The Flowers of Evil.

Golden Boy - Completed

So Mother's Basement did a video yesterday on what he considers underrated or relatively obscure Comedies and Golden Boy was included in the list. I heard about this series before so I figured I'd check out. The dub was so over the top I fucking loved it. It's up there with Konosuba and Daily Lives of High School Boys as the hardest I've ever laughed while watching an Anime.

The legendary "How do you like my swimming" definitely lived up to the hype.

as far as I can tell this season will only be 12 episodes.

there was an announcement about 5 seasons but it seems if was for live action stuff based off the IP
I saw the news of the announcement of 5seasons.

I have a good and bad news. Good news is that for the fans there is indeed an actual announcment that they are doing 5seasons.

Bad news is that if you only go for anime, the planned 5season of TKA is not for anime. It is for 网剧. A film.

as well as an off hand comment that they have enough material for 5 seasons but nothing confirmed anime wise.

Gotta catch 'em all?

More bitching about Ash Why does that fucker need a vacation? His whole life is a never ending holiday.

Scums Wish 1-4

Wow at the sensei playing 4D chess with everyone. Lol there was a scene of someone staring at someone from behind while someone else stared at them from behind, fucking romance inception, i laughed so hard.

I like the show the a lot. Probably my two gripes about it so far are. Too much unnecessary and sometimes clumsy monolouging and exposition. There are a lot of times where the scenes are constructed well enough that i know what characters are thinking without it being spelled out for me. And the ghost version of Hanabi kind of ratchets that up to worse degree. Its not a big problem but i think its one of the cases where "less is more" u know.

And two Moca feels a bit out of place so far. Fair enough she has't got much focus so far so maybe she'll reveal a bit more going forward.

Something I've seen pointed out that I thought was brilliant is the fact that Moca is the only character in the show that talks with an "anime voice" and acts like stereotypical anime character so it makes her stand out more because of it.

Sayaka finally falls prey to drug dealer Kyubey and now has some rando out for her head because of it. This magical girl business seems like quite the losing investment.

Noragami Aragoto: 7-12
For some reason it had bugged me that I never finished the show. Maybe because I liked the first season or as it turned out later, I had watched 9 of the 13 episodes so I was almost done anyway. It seemed like everybody dropped this mid-broadcast and going back over some of the mid episodes, I see why. Almost all of the humor is dropped from the show and it's almost entirely drama all the way to the end. The strength of the show has always been the comedy and so by doubling down on the serious aspects, I felt kind of bored. None of this stuff was interesting enough to really grip me and while there are some moments near the end that are well handled from an emotional standpoint, the second half as a whole is just lackluster.
On the animation side, I was really disappointed. The final arc while having some action in it, didn't stir me in the slightest. It felt like a significant step down from the strong sakuga at the end of the first season. There weren't really any showpieces unlike the duel at the pond. I did notice though that the storyboarding was pretty good in a couple of episodes, 6 and 13. 6 was done by Igarashi so that's really to be expected. Episode 13 had some surprisingly good layouts and you can tell that Kawamoto was the animation director for this ep in particular.
luwVyoV.jpg

This final twist was really fucking obvious.
It's interesting how this cour followed the manga much more closely compared to the first season and yet it feels more lacking even on a narrative front. I think part of this is due to the fact that the arc in the anime doesn't feel complete. It has a decent ending point I suppose but it felt like I watched half of a full arc. In summary I can't really recommend this season even to fans of the first one. The Aragoto OADs are good though.

Oh and the ED is great. I needs more Tia.

Future Card Buddyfight X [Battz] Episode 2 (Engdub)

Gaito and Abygale engdubbed, interesting choices, especially Gaito's as we were so used to hearing Aoi Shouta's voice for him. I kind of miss him as he is in my top 3 favorite voices, but the engdub actor is good.

Batzz is pretty hilarious especially just him coping with his SD version. Best buddy yet.

Aragoto first part with Bishamon was the part I did not like, I thought the Ebisu? part was pretty cool. It had some pretty emotional stuff, the comedy moments were good and the action parts were cool.

Season 1 was better tho.

BUT Aragoto op is much much better then season 1 op.

That does look good

Hope you like Spice and Wolf. Once done, go read the novel or manga to continue the story.

I really only buy what I've already seen or something that I am super interested in. I love Spice and Wolf and have the vain hope of a season 3 someday...

Edit: Also, I had some disposable income which I usually don't have for anime. So, more than anything, this is me mostly catching up my collection of some of my favorite anime that are on sale for reasonable prices for what I can spend.

Looks like I picked a bad day to check the thread.

Why are you always a bully? ;)
