Square Enix asks fans about if Persona 5/FF15 were out at same time, release hint?

To me FFXV it's like SE looked at Xenoblade and went "whoa! big creatures, huge field. Looks fun, let's do that" Seriously who didn't think that FFXV took a lot of cues from Xenoblade in those trailer with the huge expansive fields populated by big ass monsters.

Oh wait that's FF13.It sucks so it doesn't get any credit for anything it does.

Maybe FF12 did it all before either game ?

I'll have both eventually but P5 first if possible. 15 has just lost a lot of the original vision of vs13, at least from what was shown and comparing to 15 now. Changing hands from Nomura to Tabata, a...user base design approach multiplies that lost of vision even more, it's getting hard to find something uniquely special in the game anymore imo.

If Persona 5 has the same random dungeons like in Persona 3-4, then it can GTFO.

I did see a lot of variety for the dungeons in the trailer so hoping this time the battle and dungeon exploration is actually fun instead of a chore. I do like the Slice of Life aspect of the game, and it is easily my most favorite part of it, aside from the characters.

Dungeon crawling felt a lot better in 3 than 4. At least the random aspect of it made sense.

Final Fantasy was always one step ahead of curve, now it seems like they are playing catch up, to fucking Monolith Soft of all studios (shows how much as a studio Monolith Soft has grown since Nintendo bought them). Now those questions about what fans liked about Persona...

Does SE has a clue what they are doing? It all seems so aimless. This constant switching of staff and directors, it doesn't give the series an identity. With Gooch and Kitase you knew what to expect, but now Toriyama and Tabata... It's like the series has no identity anymore.

Personas has its identity, Dragon Quest has its identity, Tales has its identity... Can't say the same for FF in a long time. That's one of the reason why people are skeptical, no one knows what to expect from this game.
This post is all kinds of wrong packed. Where yo ass was at when they made FF XI AND XII oh wait AND XIII im sorry my mistake one more, XIV as well? And XII was in what, 2006 I think? Bruh

I've not been a fan of what I've played of the demo for FFXV, though I did only really play it as soon as it was out so perhaps I should give it another shot. That said, I'd 100% pick up Persona 5 day -1. I'd probably wait to pick up FF until it was 30 bucks or so, I haven't enjoyed any since FFXII so I think I'll be okay.

Gotta say, that twitter account is the absolute grandmaster of getting neogaf's attention.

I disagree. I loved Persona 3 but the dungeons were so repetitive. Persona 4's dungeons were far superior in variety and they linked that into the narrative really well I felt.

Agree to disagree then. I played P3FES after P4G, and playing that game made it apparent how repetitive and boring dungeon crawling was in P4G. It never felt as rewarding as exploring Tartarus and overcoming the block boss. Granted, Tartarus has its frustrating moments, but it never felt dull to me.

The narrative I have some problems with, especially when you go through the story sessions in the dungeon and then go back to social links to see the character arc in its entirety. Some of the character progression feels nonsensical and strange (specifically Rise).

Are you comparing FF spin-offs to a mainline game?

FF Tactics, a spin-off is better than 90% of mainline FF. Persona Q was a spin-off as well. It may or may not be as good as mainline Persona, but I don't think it really suffered in quality either. Being spin-off is not an excuse for bad games.

I don't watch and don't care for animes in something like 10 years, neither consider myself an super enthusiat for Japanese culture (besides I do like it) and still think that Persona mainline is an AMAZING video game series!

Everyone who avoid the game based on how it looks and its social simulation aspect should at least give it a try someday. I was surprised when I first played it, and in P4G I got more than 160 hours of gameplay, a platinum trophy and finished the game 3 times.

This is the new FF15 vs XCX thread now that XCX is out isnt it? Considering P5 will most definitely release first, what game will FF15 be pitted against after that?

As much as I liked Persona 4, the dungeons were awful. Tartarus in P3 and it's endless bring floors were even worse and the main reason I prefer Persona 4 over Persona 3.

Randomised dungeons are always pretty much shit. It's why people can love games like Bloodborne but hate the chalice dungeons.

After XBX and Persona 5 aren't most if not all the remaining big JRPG's to release all from Square? I suppose Ni No Kuni?

in this thread no one talked about speculation of FFXV release date, thought of the intention of this survey and everybody is making this thread just a fanboy warfare(or massacre by P5 supporters) as always.

There was talk about FF XV's potential release date, and the intention of the survey. The conclusion that most came to is that they want to absolutely maximize the sales potential of FF XV since it took a decade to make and that they'll probably move the release date from Persona 5's release date because of that. It's not really hard to figure.

Ive been seeing a LOT of posts like these and Im a little confused like, uh... what vision of Versus XIII? How much gameplay footage of that game existed, a few minutes at best? And aside from UI changes it just looks the same as Episode Duscae, except theres no weapon switching and teleporting.

Theres Star Ocean 5 and whatever the next Tales game will be.

Ok dude chill, Xenoblade was probably a good game but it wasn't the first of its kind.

I found both P3 and P4's dungeons to be boring and repetitive... Persona 2 Eternal Punishment had much better dungeons.

No one wants to admit that FFXV actually has a shot at releasing in 2016. Everyone just want to make the same old joke.

Big as in what? If you mean sales, you're missing a lot.

I never said I would only play the big games. I'm interested in the smaller and more niche stuff to. But it's only the big games that tend to get involved in these silly little head to head 'my game is better than yours' nonsense. What JRPG's am I missing that won't be released by Square? In terms of sales and/or large anticipation. Ni No kuni is the only one I can think of

Star Ocean 5 is another Square game and Tales isn't popular enough or have that eager anticipation the likes of a platform exclusive Xenoblade and long awaited Persona 5 do.

Considering how long it's been in development and how many "we're almost there"'s there has been, the jokes are apt even if it does release in 2016.

Everyone is going to of course say Persona 5, but it will be massively outsold by FF15 I would wager.

I honestly have very little interest in FF15, which is unfortunate. I will still play it and love it I imagine, but I hate the cast so far and I am really not a fan of these modern type settings that Square does. FF9 is my favorite in the series for context.

I finally decided that I need to see why people love Persona so much and started playing the first one. I know that 3 and 4 are supposed to be pretty damn different games from the first two but I definitely am loving Persona 1, so I guess I am more interested in Persona 5 by default.

What? I love Xenoblade X but previous FF games have all done this before.

12 did this in 06. Not to mention the FF MMO's.

They lost the benefit of the doubt when it comes to both release dates and quality a long time ago. No one will "admit" that FFXV could come out next year or even that it will be good once it does because hasn't given them a reason to in quite a while.

Well, Star Ocean 5 is more Enix than Square. Same as Dragon Quest. And Xenoblade, awesome as it is, will be lucky if it does Xillia's numbers. C'mon man, don't act like two of J-RPG's oldest, most storied franchises are some Compile Heart write-offs.

Ehhh....... Aside from a select few who are out of touch with the recent development related to the game, most of us know exactly what we are getting and when. People just try to make the joke because hey, the game was announced back in 2005/6 and it wasn't until 2012 that it was fully rebooted.

The game is already complete and can be played from start to finish. What more proof do people need now?

As for the quality of the game, there was a demo that was released with an early and unfinished combat system and the inital impressions around it were overwhelming positive, from press and fans alike. It wasn't until after SE decided to focus on the single demo for the rest of the year (2015) that people got tired and sick of seeing it again and again. It slowly turned negative with the focus on demo and releasing a new update for it. People were also getting annoyed with all the removals and changes from Versus to FFXV.

There are some great trailers for FFXV that promise a lot of stuff in the final game, but they were released before the whole focus on Duscae i.e in 2014 (TGS+Jump Festa) and hence people have forgotten about them. Another set of trailers + renewed focus of marketing on new content will kickstart the hype again full time and make people believe the game they are getting is good. The rest? We will know once the game is actually out. Same applies to Persona 5 too.

Based on this thread I don't think gaffers here, generally speaking, are not believing the game is gonna get a 2016 release, neither that the game is not gonna sell well (it will certainly sell way more than Persona, since FF is targeted to an mainstream audience). Most are just saying that if they plan to release at the same time as Persona, they'd get Persona first / instead. What's totally reasonable.

Persona 5.

I think the biggest factor is just that people are going to wait to see more from FFXV. It's not that Square has put out anything awful. It's just that we don't know what to expect. Will it be like XIII and its sequels, or is this new form going to reinvent the franchise?

Persona 5 is exactly what the fans want. It's a new feel for the game, but with the same Persona style that has made the last two titles such big hits. And whereas XV feels filled with a giant world, I think Persona feels just as full with content, but in a smaller more controlled package.

It really comes down to the critical response to XV whether it is a success or not, whereas Persona 5 is just going to be another hit with its fans.

Happy new year everybody. 2016 is ours?

I'm saying that because of the attached image and I really believe a question mark should have been added at the end of that sentence.

Square Enix asked fans about their feeling if Final Fantasy XV was released close to Persona 5. That question was asked back in December 2015. Since then, Square Enix was able to:

  • Show a 100% in-game new gameplay footage
  • Give a new progress report
  • Fix a release date
  • Plan a major event in Los Angeles with videogame personalities Greg Miller and Tim Gettys to reveal the release date of Final Fantasy XV

And since then, Atlus as done... well, nothing.

February is tomorrow. Summer is in a few weeks. And I would love to hear your thoughts on wether or not Atlus is doing the right thing by keeping low and surprising us at the end, or if we should just simply be prepared mentally for a Summer-free of Persona 5?

Think you're jumping the gun a little bit there, buddy.

As for your question, I'm perfectly fine with Atlus laying low for P5. I mean, Atlus knows. They know we're all going to buy the game. They don't need to do anything except actually release the game and then immediately follow it up with Persona 5: Dancing All Night.
