Square Enix Reportedly Developing Dragon Quest VII Remake, Planned for Release in 2026

Uh, Torneko Taloon is awesome, sir. He basically is an NPC that you happen to play as, a merchant family man that saves the day with his good business skills. Plus he's the guy that started the entire Mystery Dungeon series.

As for DQ7 remake, that's a little odd. Besides the original trilogy and iOS ports, it's actually the most recent game in the series to get remade (the 2015 3DS remake) so it'd be weird to get another remake of it.

I'd rather them just go in order. No reason why they can't remake 4 or 5 in HD2D next. Those are both more popular than 7 anyway.
3DS is an outdated system, there's actually a ton of jrpgs stuck there that need modern releases.

The most annoying part of Square Enix ignoring the existence of DQ9 is that some years ago, there was an interview with Yuji Horii and Akihiro Hino (Level-5, the guys who did the original DQ9) joking around about a DQ9 remake. And I totally took that as a hint because no way Square Enix PR would let this happen otherwise.

Fuck everyone. And fuck me.

The game is alright, it as other said, the choice to remake VII over say V or VI is puzzling.

VIII would require bigger budget for a true Remake, IMO, hence their reluctance. That said, it should be by far the one to drive sales so who the hell knows what SE is thinking.
