I give that title to Dragon Quest IX.Cool if true, but also arguably the worst Dragon Quest game.

3DS is an outdated system, there's actually a ton of jrpgs stuck there that need modern releases.Uh, Torneko Taloon is awesome, sir. He basically is an NPC that you happen to play as, a merchant family man that saves the day with his good business skills. Plus he's the guy that started the entire Mystery Dungeon series.
As for DQ7 remake, that's a little odd. Besides the original trilogy and iOS ports, it's actually the most recent game in the series to get remade (the 2015 3DS remake) so it'd be weird to get another remake of it.
I'd rather them just go in order. No reason why they can't remake 4 or 5 in HD2D next. Those are both more popular than 7 anyway.
There's a fan translation, works great on PCSX2. I would like to see that one get a modern release as well though, even if its just a port of the PS2 version, holds up really well.As far as I know, The PS2 remake of DQV was never released outside of Japan so it's lesser known.
I think XI is incredible but no game is for everybody.Okay, buddy. I'll give Dragon Quest XI another try.
I don't think Nomura has anything to do with Dragon Quest (thank God).it's modern Square, so all the characters will be tall lanky metrosexuals in Banana Republic outfits with laughably cringe dialogue and voice acting
It's in development hell.I'm curious when we will get infos on Dragon Quest XII. I hope it's not in development hell.
Nah dude this is Dragon Quest. That means it'll combine heavy subject matter and pervy humor with characters + writing that belong in a cartoon show aimed at 8-year-olds.it's modern Square, so all the characters will be tall lanky metrosexuals in Banana Republic outfits with laughably cringe dialogue and voice acting
That's because it's heavy relying on memories playing the game when you were 8 years old. These games haven't changed much so it speaks to your nostalgia.Nah dude this is Dragon Quest. I think many VIII fans don't even want a full remake, just a way to play it on modern consoles. Remember back in the PS360 era where HD remasters were more of a thing? Simple ports of PS2 games just ran in high definition. I feel like DQ8 having its PS2 assets and art style, just in high definition with the 3DS additions (no random enemy encounters, the additional party members, etc) is want VIII fans really want. If S-E is feeling ambitious and would consider a full-blown remake of VIII, I'm open to the idea, I just don't think the game needs that.VIII would require bigger budget for a true Remake, IMO, hence their reluctance. That said, it should be by far the one to drive sales so who the hell knows what SE is thinking.
IX was great. I like it more than V.Honestly surprised by all the hate for IX here. I thought that game was lovely. I also enjoyed X Offline, which had a similar art style, though changing the interface from the dual screen setup to single screen would definitely take some work.
Probably one of the best Dragon Quests. You start as Hero...forced to become a Zero....and slowly get back to Hero again. Probably one of my favorite stories.Honestly surprised by all the hate for IX here. I thought that game was lovely. The 3DS version is perfectly playable via emulator, if anyone is interested. Works great on Steam Deck or PC.The 3DS remake was already good design wise, fixing the original Game issues. They should justbupgrade the graphics and it would be perfect.
Sounds a lot like Atlus. Maybe they should trade games to remake just out of sheer boredom.I swear, they will remake every DQ game multiple times before they even consider doing something with DQ 9...
Supposedly Nintendo only offer a single 64GB option for publishers on Switch 2, while Switch (1) offers a much wider arrange (1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB).I went back to potentially preorder the Switch 2 version on Amazon and I didn't realize that the Switch 2 version is only 6GB!!!!! WHY is it on a game key card?
The Switch 1 is fully on the card. So what reason would they have for not putting it fully on the Switch 2 card?
No digital upgrade path if you buy the Switch version........just like Octopath Traveler 0
Fuck them (once again!!)
Nintendo offers a 16gb and a 32 gb. They could easily use the 16gb. .....and then why not offer the upgrade path for those that get the Switch 1 version which is fully on the card?Supposedly Nintendo only offer a single 64GB option for publishers on Switch 2, while Switch (1) offers a much wider arrange (1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB).
We only very recently got rumors about Nintendo backpedaling and starting to offer smaller sizes on Switch 2 as well, so hopefully things improve going forward.
But I think it's perfectly understandable that Square Enix don't want to pay for a 64GB cartridge on Switch 2 when the game is only 6GB.
Haven't seen that, but even a 8GB size Switch 2 cartridge would likely be more expensive than the equivalent 8GB option on Switch (1) due to being faster/including more expensive storage.Nintendo offers a 16gb and a 32 gb. Would an 8gb vs 16gb really be that much of a cost difference to developers? A few $$ max.Haven't seen that, but even a 8GB size Switch 2 cartridge would likely be more expensive than the equivalent 8GB option on Switch (1) due to being faster/including more expensive storage.
So the 16GB option is likely still seen as too expansive in comparison.
I've never worked within publishing, so I'm not sure. But even with Switch (1) developers were hesitant to use the larger capacity carts because the cost eat into the profit margins on retail titles, which are already pretty slim to begin with.Would an 8gb vs 16gb really be that much of a cost difference to developers?
