Chances are that it will be no gold + subscription, given that that's how FFXI was handled on 360. It would be a joke if they asked for live on top
of a pay to play MMO.

I don't think it would be that much of a joke for MS to demand it. It would only alienate people that only have a 360 and currently don't play games online. However, I believe if it's finally coming to the 360 it's b/c MS caved and not SE (aka: No Gold needed)

Gold Membership + Subscription = No sale.

No gold + Subscription = Maybe, I'll see which version is the superior version.

Gold + No Subscription (lol) = Holy shit yes.

There is currently no game released so far for the system that has a monthly subscription and requires Gold.

it would be a joke actually. I am not exactly sure how live works so feel free to correct me but why wouldn't it be a joke for MS to ask for gold when you aren't even using their servers or service? Iirc the reason you pay for a subscription is partly because of the server costs, so it would be ridiculous to make gold mandatory.

Thats a pretty good way to get people to subscribe to LIVE though...

For new users, or renovating users it would be actually a very good deal.

Buy a year Gold subscription and MS will give you 3 months free of FFXIV, that would make many people get the 360 version over the PS3 version, I would actually do it, tho I'm still playing on PC, the console copy would just be my alt/mule account.

I did some research since I wasn't a console RPG gamer at the time and you're right, FF was on the nintendo consoles first. My research also shows that Nintendo was assholes in handling the cost of cartridges on the SNES. That was very dishonorable. In Japan honor comes before business unlike the rest of the world. Right now Square is being dishonorable. They need to keep FF games on the sony consoles for at least 3 years before releasing them on other systems. If a gamer is honorable they will boycott FF13 and 14 to teach SE a lesson.
