Square Enix teasing their E3 booth

What does it matter. The only difference this makes would be that XVI is called XV instead.

Exactly. I don't get people who say "If Versus becomes XV then what will happen to the XV in development."

1) we don't know if this "XV" is in development

2) if it is they can just call it Final Fantasy XVI. I don't see the problem here.

Because as cool as Versus sounds, I'd rather the next mainline title not be a renamed action-RPG spinoff announced in 2006 with a new subtitle. Seems like the easy way out for a company that really needs to apply itself. I'd like a return to form, and I guess you could argue that the subtitle and if/when that game actually comes out don't really matter, but I think fundamentally it would just be good for the brand if Versus remained its own thing and the next game was actually intended to be the next Final Fantasy from the beginning.

And yeah, marketing it as XV might cause them to artificially delay the next actual title a bit longer, though I guess the XIII/XIV release gap is an argument against that.

ARE YOU READY TO HAVE UNCOMFORTABLY LONG BUTT SHOTS ON YOUR SCREEN AND TO SEE NOCTIS CROTCH GRAB PROMPTO?

ARE YOU READY FOR FANS TO BE DEBATING THE TRUE NATURE OF THE GAME'S VILLAIN FOR YEARS?

And most importantly, are you ready to have to do a re-vote and have GAF declare it GOTY TWICE?

I know this is a joke, but I'm legit worried that Stella will have the tropey breast size comparison convo with another female party member, and worse, seeing the way JRPGs are going.

I dont think they will take THAT long to release Versus at this point (probably somewhere next year). So if it is actually renamed XV then I dont see how it would it delay an eventual XVI game too much.

I want Stella to be a clumsy tsundere.

Not really

And this is why it SHOULD be called Final Fantasy XV.

Also why does Stella have to be like other characters? Why can't she be like an original "Stella" character? I would prefer that. She actually seems like a strong female character. Not like Lightning.

From the very beginning Nomura was trying to create characters that aren't like that, so here's hoping.

X-2 did enough of that for everyone.

Oh come on, that conversation was totally okay when Cordelia had it in Fire Emblem Awakening. Even though it made no sense, since her bosom was shown to be ample in the ensuing scene and they had to handwave it looking to be decent size in her art by saying her breastplate was misleading. And then there was that awkward conversation in the next DLC chapter between Anna and Severa that had them calling Cordelia flat.

Okay never mind that conversation was crap! Why they gotta make my waifu feel bad about the way she looks? Just cuz she don't look like Aversa don't mean she looks like Nowi.

But it wouldn't remain its own thing because then it would still be titled Final Fantasy Versus XIII and by having XIII still in the title people would associate it with the mediocre JRPG with Lightning in it since the FNC was a miserable failure.

All this chest flatness talk reminds me of Etna.

Incredible how Final Fantasy threads always take interesting turns.

I imagine they're taking the "XIII" out of the title regardless, as they did with Type-0, so I don't think that's going to be an issue if it doesn't become XV.

Final Fantasy Threads are actually all of us experiencing the 5 Stages of Grief over the capacity of Square Enix to put on a good presentation. Some of us are in denial, some of us are in bargaining, some of us in anger, and so on.

Being part of the FNC series, it'll still be associated with FF XIII considering the themes and terminology it'll have. Just like Type-0 even though it's not named "XIII" anymore.

The thing about Versus being renamed XV is I wonder if SE doesn't mind making their next mainline title also part of the FNC series. All mainline titles are separate new ideas but if Versus is XV it'd still be part of FNC, not something wholly new.

Also does any FF have breast comparisons? This isn't Tales or Persona we're talking about...

Except Type-0 was originally titled Final Fantasy Agito XIII, anyway I agree they're likely going to change the name in some form or way.

As long as it's new characters, new setting, and a new story, I don't think people will care that much.

Versus is a separate new idea and we never heard FNC mythos talk in any of the trailers. It wouldn't be that hard to take out any FNC mythos in the game (if there is even any) and call it XV. It's a wholly independent story from XIII and Type-0.

You're worrying about a problem that has no basis or merit.

It's always been part of the FNC series. Obviously it'd share the same terminology and whatnot. It's even being penned by the same guy who created the FNC mythology.

They can take out the FNC stuff, maybe, but at its base as we know right now it's part of FNC.

You people are crazy if you think Stella is flat-chested. Like really, is this flat chested:

I guess his definition of new is different from mine.

I think he is hinting at Versus being renamed to XV

There's nothing wrong with FNC itself though.

What was wrong was how the XIII series handled it.

This time you are getting FNC by the guy who actually wrote it, and actually can write competently. Although he does do some weird stuff.

What's frustrating about this image is I still can't see the symbols on the coat of arms on her right breast.

Back in 2006 it was. Things change.

Why do you think back in 2011 they changed the conference name from "the Fabula Nova Crystallis Conference" to "1st Production Department Showcase".

We have Lightning Saga. Type series(maybe). And XVersus.

Because they were showcasing more than FNC? In that conference they also showcased KH and Dissidia too. And they showcased FF XIII-2 and Type-0, both games we know are part of the FNC series. As well as Versus.

I don't think anybody thinks she's flat chested. We just hope they don't do the stupid thing where the not flat chested girl thinks she's flat chested cuz she doesn't have :chet larger than her head.

i hope they update her face
looks kinda ugly compare to the CG model
also kinda masculine
makes noctis look feminine even

this one looks better

XVersus makes so much sense. I can see they showing the game and the logo for Versus in the end and then suddenly a X appears in from of the Versus part and "ersus" disappears.

Didn't Nomura say that the reason Versus is there is due to the game being so different to FF13. If its being renamed to XV I doubt they will keep the versus.

FFv13-Graphics-Compare_2.jpg

The bottom Stella looks cuter though the top one looks more like her CG counterpart.

Wait......now I'm finding it hard to tell the difference between the two. It looks like she just has darker eyes and skin tone.

That's what happens when you have an entire generation of mediocre home console titles I suppose.

Right on.

I hope to god the Lightning Returns stuff just ends FNC and FF15 is just what Versus was, but folded over for PS4.

Hedging bets on that...but who the hell knows at this point.

It's more than that for me. I've just had it up to here with all Otaku pandering in JRPGs. Even Bravely Default suffers heavily from it.
They're really the only games I play aside Fighters, and I'm finding myself replaying old classics instead of buying new ones due the state of the genre.
It's why all this "Fantasy based on reality" speak reallllllllly interests me, instead of "Fantasy based on modern day one dimensional animu tropes".

Mainly it was because it was so different from the series in general, not just FFXIII.(But especially FFXIII since it's not being a corridor and all :p)

It helps that it's bringing back some long gone series staples. Airships man, airships you pilot yourself..

You never know what you have till it's gone.

I'm hoping it's kinda like BERSERK myself. Though I doubt anything can ever amount to what BERSERK is.

Noctis reminds me so much of the protagonist of "The Man From Nowhere"

I can see why you say that.

Unrelated, but you know what I want? I want to be able to change the clothes of the characters. Mainly because I want to be wearing that suit at all times.

I'm trying to be ABAP.(As Baller As Possible)

It's a sad day when your actually surprised you can control airships in a Final Fantasy game :(

Well, didn't they design a whole clothing line based on the game? So I hope there is some kind of customization
