Square Enix teasing their E3 booth

I am going to say that this is the last E3 where I will give square a chance. They have disappointed me the last three years. Every year I prayed for some type of news on versus... And every year they pretended that it didn't exist. C'mon Enix please don't disappoint.

FFXIII had a very brief thing where you could touch the controller for a battle behind closed doors, FFXIII-2 actually had a pretty big presence - it was playable on machines at Sony's press conference after party, and had 12 or so machines running it at SE's booth.

The "last couple" of DQ titles was really only DQ6 and Nintendo didn't bother advertising it. They did, however, advertise for DQ9 and that did very well for them. I'd say DQ9 is probably the best selling non-Pokemon rpg in the west on the Nintendo ds though i currently don't have the data to back that claim up. Remember that S-E did DQ4 and 5, but skipped 9 and 6. Those were the last two DQ titles released in English, and both are from Nintendo. Compounded by the fact that 3ds could still use a few more rpgs, I think Nintendo very well will be doing Dragon Quest VII. The problem is whether or not they feel Bravely Default has more priority over DQ7 and do that instead. :(

DQMJ2 was also brought over by Nintendo :P Anyway, we'll see. I'd rather stay pessimistic and be surprised if it happens. DQVII has a huge script and I don't know if Nintendo will go blaze in terms of advertising as they did with IX for a remake (as VI proves). IX was brand new afterall and had very visible marketing perks such as the visible equipment slots and the create a party function that really sold it to its audience.

No. The only public demo of FFXIII was the demo that came with Advent Children Complete.

The same is true for XIII-2, though it was released on dd services instead.

there was public demo of FF XIII on TGS if i remember correctly, unless you are talking specifically about E3

There was a FFXIII-2 public demo at Eurogamer last year as well. (guess they wanted to make sure people saw more of FFXIII-2 after the backlash of FFXIII which only had the AC demo edit: didn't know it had one at TGS though til now)

For those trying to guess what's likely to be playable at the booth, just think about it for a second - it's pretty obvioust:

KH HD has already been playable to members of the public/community at the London office for a community day
FF14 is approaching open beta
Lightning Returns will be releasing within months of E3
FFX HD seems like it'll be out at some point this year, and media is being released, so is definitely in a presentable state
Deus Ex: HR Wii U has been playable at PAX and a small UK show

Plus Square always, always, always have a mobile area of their booth, and that's grown in size every year really - I imagine it'll get even more so this year.

This is just extrapolating off what we already know. The question is if they'll have anything out-and-out new, I suppose.

You're forgetting the "Please be excited!" PS4 announcement thing they had.

I'm expecting:

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD
Lightning Returns
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD (maybe a teaser of 2.5)
Final Fantasy XIV
Final Fantasy XV/Versus

Want to see:

Kingdom Hearts 3
Final Fantasy XII Complete Collection HD (PS4)
Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core/Dirge of Cerberus HD (why the hell not? :P)

If they actually show Versus, the question is how much they will show.

they could do 30 second CG teaser, full ~7 minute trailer with gameplay like they did with the latest trailer from 2011, or actual playable demo booth.

It will be treated as a new reveal, so it'll be an extensive trailer. No CG teasers. IF they show another brand new FF (XVI) then that will have a teaser trailer.

As long as it has a release date it doesn't really matter. That's what we care about most of all.

I don't know if I have it in me to even play it this way, despite being my favorite game of all time.

Do not really want. I would actually much rather have FFVI for iOS.

Actually no. You wouldn't rather have it on iOS. You wouldn't rather have anything on iOS.

When you think about it, FF6 would have a ruined soundtrack (one of the best), terrible as fuck controls and worst of all... Vector art. Although it's subjective of me to say pixel art looks better, do people really prefer the new art style of phoenix wright and mega man?

I liked playing Chrono Trigger on my iPhone for like the 8th time. I'm sure FFVI would be fine.

If they do a 30 second blip of Versus, I will rage. Its been 2 years since the last trailer. Either show a huge trailer with everything that the game encompasses and end it with a release date, or just announce that you're a bunch of blue balling hacks and that the project was put on hold to fulfill the Toriyama train-wreck trilogy...AGAIN.

Am I the only one who wants a Theathrythm of the Chrono games?

I dont understand what's taking Versus XIII so long! is this the longest it has taken to make a game?

It's been a long time, but it's really not the longest. There are games that have taken twice as long. Especially when you realize that they haven't even been making it with a full team for more than 2-3 years.

I'm so hyped for this S-E's E3. So full of promises and already announced titles. First of all my most anticipated title (LR) will be finally shown to its current and probably final form (with a super trailer). Then all the HD editions of those games I loved, Bravely Default, A Realm Reborn, THIEF, more portables titles and surely FFXV. I'm HYPED as much as 2006. Bring it on!

Fixed! :D

If it's still aiming Ps3 it will release on 17th December 2013 in Japan and 4-7th February 2014 for the rest of the world.
If it's been moved to next gen late 2014.

Yes I just made that up.

Jokes aside don't expect anything but a quarter target. If it is being shown that is...

I dont understand what's taking Versus XIII so long! is this the longest it has taken to make a game?

-announcement trailer made/shown well before any actual game production started
-game engine it was supposed to be designed on (White Engine/Crystal Tools) wasn't even completed until like mid-late 2007/early 2008 (right?)
-FFXIII had production problems, so staff from VsXIII brought in to help finish.
-various important design ideas changed (i.e. from world map to open world; from real-time cut-scenes to CG cut-scenes, etc.), so previous work was either scraped or completely redone.
-FFXIV bombed catastrophically; more resources (likely from VsXIII's production) were used to fix it/create XIV: ARR.
-possible hardware switch: from PS3 to PS4
-possible gameplay re-design

Most of that is just guess work (correct me if I'm wrong on these), but I'd imagine elements close to what I've listed have contributed to VsXIII's crazy development time. If it truly has changed hardware platforms (rumors say as long as two years ago), that would account for a big deal of the delay and overall media silence.

Expect a lot of iPads! :P

Seriously, all I care about is Type-0. I would say Bravely Default but that's Nintendo!

I don't think we are getting Type 0.

Unless that is their new FF title.

Which would be a rather interesting move considering...

Would you be sad if LR is now a backburner game in SE's eyes?

It's their only hit for this year, they'll market it wisely when the time comes. Of course, any main new entry that will be announced (XV) will likely steal the show. But I'm still going to anticipate LR this year, it's too interesting for me as a fan of the XIII series ;) It'll be a good game and I know. Personally it's my most anticipated title for this year (or for this gen I could dare to say).

Maybe they'll promote it through Twitter and Facebook and call it a night.

Bzzt. FFXIV says hi.

It really isnt that hard to foresee the games that will be playable in their booth if you think about it (LR, XIV, KHHD, X/X-2HD, mobile, etc). Im really expecting to see what they are doing with Versus though, so many rumors floating around, its about time we get a confirmation.

Also, regarding LR, I still stand by my opinion that SE will heavily market it and it will end up selling more than both the HD re releases.
I really hope so. @_@ I think I have a bet with someone here, cant remember though. lol
