Square Enix's E3 2013 Booth Lineup Revealed!

I do not expect Versus to make an appearance at E3. Square will showcase Agni at the PS4 reveal.

We will see Versus again at TGS.

Versus was announced for the West. The trailers even end with 'For PlayStation 3 Worldwide'.

Not that it makes much difference. We had years of FFXIII media before we got 'Trailer 1'.

I mean if they were gonna have FF15 there (or something else big), what are the chances they would've announced it through a product listing for E3, and not keep it a surprise until the actual event.

Not that I'm super anxious about it anyway.

Isn't it weird that FFX/FF X-2 get a port on the PS Vita but not KH?

Given that the whole idea behind the HD remasters is to bring the series that has spun off to beelzebub knows HOW many handhelds back to consoles, no, it's not weird at all that it doesn't get ported to a handheld.

Is this the first E3 for most people here or something?

These lists are for titles which are already announced. You don't actually expect them to announce big surprise titles on such lists when most of them will be announced during the conferences...

The most depressing indictment of SE and E3 all in one compact statement.
I don't see how. Bravely Default has gotten some really good impressions, FFXIV 2.0 seems like a quality MMO (you might not like MMOs, but that's no reason to shit on quality titles), the HD Remasters they are doing are high quality ones that people have been waiting for a long time and even Lightning Returns seems interesting from a gameplay POV (as long as they execute all of the cool ideas well), even though the story will be the usual Toriyama'd stuff in an universe some would like to forget already.

And that's not even counting their western portfolio and unannounced games & surprises. Really, Square Enix has had way shittier years, as far as E3 presence goes.

Are you not entertained!?

Bravely Default's running on Nintendo's floor, though, and serves as a healthy reminder of the great rush SE's been in to localize things lately. Lightning Returns is a sequel to a sequel of a game that is several rungs beneath the standard of quality for the series. 14 can be as good as it wants, but it will forever be FF14, the stillborn FF.

Yeah, not enough marines, boobs and guns (even if Versus probabile features two of these!). Depressing line-up.

You really just said that to me.

XIII-2 and LR are probably the best sequels (/spin off) in the series, I would not complain. Maybe only Tactics qualify as a superior product.

That list is underwhelming to say the least. Nothing on 3ds.........

There's Bravely Default on that one. For a company that aims to be inbetween the five biggest publishers around the world, portables should be their last concern right now. Plus we need more Final Fantasy, and we need that on the only viable systems for the greatest series evah: home consoles and PC.

Versus maybe (not cross gen though) but I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if they got another, mainline FF out next year.

i disagree

That depends only on Versus being cross-platform or not. If it is, then we can hope. If not, Versus is the sole next-gen FF to be released in the next two years.

The damage was done. When you have to rebuild your game because it was terrible, you need to sit down and think about what you've done. 14 can be great now, but the damage was still done.

I'm not so sure. We all know how bad the original game was but since then we all know how hard Square has worked to make this game work. The videos they have released and dev commentary have all looked promising so I think people will give this another chance.

Also, those who had the original will get the updated version anyway and if it is good then the word will spread from there.

If the game is as good as it looks then I think people will soon forget the travesty that happened before.

Yours is a more forgiving view of the fanbase than mine, then.

I live in a world of hope.

Gamers are fickle creatures and while some will swear off Square because they have gone downhill in the last ten years they will still come back to the threads looking for news. I've been annoyed with them myself for the lack of good games or games that appealed to me but here I am.....hoping.

Don't feel that much excited right now. Then again, the new thing to be excited about is not on that list I assume. Also lack of iOS games is mindboggling!

No one is denying that damage was done. But the game that people hated is literally non-existent now. It's been shut down. It ended in a fiery apocalypse. You should watch it. It was pretty neat.

The new game has literally been remade from the ground up, with a new engine even. It's pretty much an unprecedented move for all of gaming history as far as I know - especially for an MMO. Knowing all the work that they put into literally rebuilding the game, the very last thing I would say about it is that it's just the same FFXIV. I would hope that if people realize how much they put into it, they would at the very least give it a shot and make up their own mind if they're interested in it. If they're not interested in it, I would hope that at the very least, they can not spread misinformation about it being the same game and at least let others try and formulate an opinion on it without needless negativity.

After all, the game looks pretty damn amazing. I don't know who could watch that and not be impressed.

They let people play the old one free for a year. They built a new game entirely from scratch to make up for it and are giving it to all the old buyers for free. It's literally the most complete apology for a game ever in gaming history. Holding on to grudges for no reason is just ridiculous at this point. Do you even play MMOs?
