Square Enix's silence about the PC version of Nier Automata

It's really baffling how a publisher can announce a version for a game and then go completly silent about it. And it doesn't seems to be related to developpement troubles considering the game is developped with that platform in mind first according to the game producer and developpement is going smoothly according to Platinum Games' employee.

Can't Square-Enix adress this once and for all ? Cause I got 60 bucks to use on pre-order
and also to appease the wrath of a certain mod, who seeks to appease him/herself with a sacrifice if the game is delayed :")

More serious question, when's the next event in West Square Enix may potentially talk about the game before release ?

I can only imagine Sony have got an exclusive with regards to marketing and initial release, so Square can't talk about the pc version.

It's the Square-Enix way when it comes to the Japanese side. Don't expect any news about the PC version before the PS4 version is out.

Yeah its really annoying, atleast give a date or something to look forward to. I don't have my own ps4 to play it and can't ask my friend for every now and then.

they just don't want to bristle Sony?

SE is pretty good about getting out their PC ports without much fuss. not really worried

Yeah this is really stupid you already announced it's coming to PC don't just go silent all of a sudden and act like it doesn't exist anymore

Like what was said in the thread already, Sony probably just has a gag order on the PC version until it's all out and ready. With Platinum developing the game, I don't see it being a bad port, but if you're still worried then don't buy until after word gets out.

I'm shocked that a character action game with JRPG elements was even confirmed for PC before it launches on consoles. Y'all should be grateful that you're even getting the thing.

It doesn't make sense that Sony has something to do with it. SFV was heavily marketed by Sony and got a freakin beta(s) on PC much less allow Capcom talk about that sku.

Remember when the PC version of FFX/X-2 was actually finished 1 year before the actual release according to SteamDB, then 4 days before its released on Steam they opened the Steampage?

....

Oh i am so grateful japanese masters let us play their fandom games .

OH GREAT WORLD is saved.

Here is my wallet and here is my a##

Sony is one to blame. They became cancer Microsoft was during X360 era. Exclusivity to shut developers/publishers with Money.
yeah that will work greatly for you

Maybe they signed the deal a bit after the pc port announcement? Guess it'll release 6 months after the ps4 version at this point

Well, at least this time it's announced on time without double dipping myth crap. But still what a weird silence. Do they even want to sell it ?

Wasn't it the same way for dragon quest heroes, ala nothing talked about until it actually launched?

In DQH's case, it was announced after release. Here, it's announced before.

The game's Squeenix Store page still says "Early 2017", which I assume means "Before July", accounting for the Squeenix Logic that released within the first six months = released closer to the beginning of the year than the end = released early 2017.

It doesn't make sense that Sony gotta do something with it. SFV was heavily marketed by Sony and got a freakin beta(s) on PC much less talk about that sku.

PC versions of most multiplat games don't get much marketing or attention from what I've seen too, console versions always get the preferential treatment from publishers, but sure... obviously in this specific case it's because of Sony plowing big marketing bucks into this guaranteed cash cow release because they're running scared of a PC version :/

This is what's holding out hope for me, I really want it to be soon.
But on the other hand if it is delayed I can spoil myself with more switch games so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think it's just Japan not caring as much about the PC market. Or I hope it's just that because this should be the last game hindered by bullshit exclusivity dealings.

Y'all should be grateful because usually they don't even bother with a PC port for these sorts of games. What's so cryptic about that?

I should be grateful to pay €60 or your regional equivalent to the publisher and we can't even say we're dissapointed by a radio silence about a confirmed release platform?

Like seriously they didn't even have a steam logo on any of their trailers even the ones on the SQ youtube too, this most probable marketing deal and unconfirmed timed exclusivity is annoying.

That's one of the disadvantages of an open platform. PC doesn't have the luxury of someone to defend it when stuff like this happens. I couldn't imagine PlayStation or Xbox allowing this to slide.

If it did, it'd mean more agressive stance from 1st parties. I'm thankful it isn't.

It's kind of annoying to have no news about it. Is it really due to some Sony deal? Why would Sony even care that much about Nier?

Why have you paid €60 for something that doesn't exist yet?
