I like to think Yoko Taro went behind SE's back and announced the PC release even though it was already a timed exclusive.
No, he tried to make me feel better when I was worried. Tune in next month to find out if his trust in Square Enix was misplaced.
After first Nier Automata not mentionned PC, I said it was the PSX version of the trailer and there was nothing to worry about. Duckroll asked if it was okay to ban me if it was delayed. I said don't worry, you can if it's delayed by more than one month, as long as the delay after that month. Basically, I'm now hoping it's not delayed more than a month... and not cancelled :")
Seems like a reasonable move. Announce the PC version so a bunch of pc gamers dont run out and get a ps4 over a lie, but then shut up about it so the leading version can have some of that exclusive buzz. Can't please everyone.

Don't worry, everything's going to be okay.

every japanese port these days gets put on steam with little to no fanfare. just "oh, here you go". really nothing fishy going on here
Maybe it's cancelled. I mean, look at Death Stranding, they said it would release for PS4 and PC, then suddenly they removed all mentions of a PC release, because Sony will publish it and the game uses their first party Decima Engine.

It's still pre-purchaseable on the Squeenix Store.
Death Stranding had a steam page too, and then they stealthy deleted it. It wasn't pre-purchasable though, but still.
I'm pretty sure this isn't true.

I'm shocked that a character action game with JRPG elements was even confirmed for PC before it launches on consoles. Y'all should be grateful that you're even getting the thing.
Remember when the PC version of FFX/X-2 was actually finished 1 year before the actual release according to SteamDB, then 4 days before its released on Steam they opened the Steampage?
....

This. It isn't a title that's gonna sell a lot. Timed exclusive dlc in a AAA game will do better for them than this. I'm already buying a few copies of this. Lol.I doubt it's Sony. Sony didn't and still doesn't give a fuck about Nier, I mean they're not even trying to hype or market it.
It's probably cancelled.

Come on, man. They already said in a Q&A a couple weeks ago they're hard at work on the port.

This just seems like typical SE, unwilling to commit to same day PC releases for their Japanese titles.Yup, mentionned that in the OP. Even though PG's employee's been pretty clear that SE would kill him if he told more haha.
It seems fairly normal for Japanese publishers to mostly disregard PC. Either announce it and remain silent until near release, or stealth release it with an announcement like two weeks before release.

In this case it's possible they announced the port too early. Maybe they just wanted something for a tradeshow idk.Usually announced after console release. Although I do have a close exemple in mind: FF9
