Stadia Games and Entertainment is setting out to change the way we play, enjoy and create video games. With Stadia, the creative possibilities are limitless. But we can't build those experiences without a talented team of game designers, artists and storytellers. We started that journey with the opening of Stadia's first original games studio in Montreal late last year. Today, we're adding a new Stadia Games and Entertainment studio in Playa Vista, California, which will be led by an industry veteran, Shannon Studstill.

The new Playa Vista studio will focus on delivering exclusive games, using new gameplay mechanics, creative ways to play together and unique interaction models that we're just starting to explore. While we're not ready to share specific game plans yet, rest assured we are listening to what gamers want and adding our own Stadia twists to create new IP and experiences.

I've been a fan of Shannon's for a long time, and have admired her award-winning work leading Sony's Santa Monica Studio and the industry defining franchises like God of War that have won fans all over the world. She has an extensive background in product development and creative leadership, but most importantly, she's a visionary who, as the Studio Director, will lead and inspire the Playa Vista teams. We're thrilled to welcome her to the Stadia family!

Stadia is designed to be the one destination for all the ways we play. It's key to bring on talent that not only has success in delivering the industry's best content, but also has creative ideas around how to embrace this new and unique way to create.
Building a world-class studio piece-by-piece is a unique opportunity that you don't often get in the game industry. And we want to do it with you.

Odd choice, considering the position she had at SSM.
Microsoft might have been a better long-term option, I like Google and all but I don't trust them with new services.
Beautiful lady by the way, had great synergy with Cory (as per some interviews they did about GoW and parenting).

She's got nice knockers.

She's good looking and a fantastic developer.

Genuinely sad to see this happening but that's life. I respect Nintendo's staff members who stayed with the company for all these decades, true loyalty to the brand.
Loyalty doesn't matter anymore. At the end of the day it's about who gives the best benefits and the biggest pay cheque's. Cha-Ching.

Gonna be years before they have a game; interesting that at least for now Google seems to be moving forward business as usual.

I'd expect things to change if the Free launch flops.

I wish her the best, but I'd hate to have that much (presumably) creative freedom and resources, only to have it inevitably end up fundamentally undermined by the inescable major flaws of the platform it will be stuck on.

This would mean something if this thread was like two years old. Seems like Google is a day late and a dollar short.

Still dont care really. Unless the games are like 1 dollar each with no subscription fees I have no interest in a purely digital streaming platform regardless of who makes games for it.

I like all the choices Jade has made so far for Stadia's studios but at the same time i still don't know if we'll ever see a game from all these studios Google acquired / formed.

It's about time Stadia got a legit developer
Yeah people keep counting Google out, but I'd wager they've planned for all the growing pains they're going through. I'm watching them. They ain't out of this thing yet. They can float this entire initiative for years. Google has more money than god at this point.

But NeoGAF told me cloud gaming had no future, Stadia was a complete failure and Google was going to shut it down.

At this point y'all are sounding like those doomsday cult leaders who keep promising their followers that the world is going to end while finding new excuses to push that date back every time it comes and goes.

I know she was studio head at SSM but I'd love to know what she actually did apart from be a powerful female figurehead....

Anyway, she'll be back within 12 months. Stadia is dead.

From a gamers perspective this makes no sense but Google has a fuckload of money and know absolutely nothing about gaming. They probably doubled or even tripled her salary.

Could be a nice lump sum till Stadia kicks the bucket and then probably she goes back to Sony or another big company.
